Oak Valley Golf Club

       About
This course used to be considered a hidden gem. Now, Oak Valley Golf Course in Beaumont is an off-the-beaten-path known reasonable joy. Stopping on the way from Los Angeles to Palm Springs for a golf detour is no fool's play. Not with the fast greens, dramatic elevation changes and swerving fairways available at Oak Valley in Beaumont.
A Lee Schmidt and Brian Curley design, Oak Valley is probably best known for greens that are anything but desert typical. Speed is the name of the game here, with a tap sometimes too much on a downhill putt.
Recognition does not travel that quickly. It took a decade for Oak Valley to get a four star rating from Golf Digest. Once it did, Beaumont suddenly became a golf stopping spot on the Palm Springs express. Now, you're considered a smart golfer if you linger on the way to Palm Springs.
"It's a nice getaway from the crowds in the desert, as well as some of the other, more populated golf areas," head pro Scott Arnold said. "It's almost like being in the country. No houses line the fairways. Each hole is different. And because of the way it's laid out, you often can't even see another hole from the one you're playing."

Oak Valley back 9 Photo submitted by VICRAZ7 on 12/09/2013
Where do I begin?
The desk forgot to give me a key for the golf cart so I had to walk back upstairs to get it. Then when I took my cart to go find ice for the cart cooler I was told I had to go back upstairs again to get ice??? The practice green was nice and quick. However my downhill putt on the first hole never got half way to the hole. The second hole was the opposite. I blew my putt 12 ft past the hole. My putter is the best club in my bag. Inconsistant greens. The tee boxes need to be trimmed. The course layout was pretty good. Very scenic. Dont hit your ball in the rough. It resembles a cow pasture. Fairways were good. I didnt see a chipping green but I didnt ask either. The course has promise.
Oak Valley - Solid
The course is kept in fairly good shape. Greens have healed nicely from aerification and rolled true and receptive to approach shots. The fairways had solid lines and although rough was thin in some areas, it was good enough to put a precedent on hitting fairways.
The 1906 Bar and Grill is open and staff was very friendly.
There were only two complaints. I wish they had a beverage cart that was on course because you need to stock up before teeing off and at the turn. They did run out of range balls in the morning and that could be an operations issue but I would recommend that they get new range balls as they are heavily used. However, the practice tee was very good.
Overall, it was a very enjoyable day and will come back. It’s competitive in pricing to the area but on the higher end considering no beverage cart and no gps on the carts. The new carts do have a hidden gps to prevent you from getting to close to the greens.
Laid back
I like this course because it's peaceful and laid back. It's not always in perfect condition but it's decent.
Gen. Conditions
Great golf course; well maintained; rough is really penalizing, bunker behind #15 however, is a disgrace (cement-like dirt underneath weeds). Greens have turned fast this week!
IE Gem
Oak valley was in great shape. Greens are back from punching. We had a nice day of therapy 😌
Incredible greens and rouuuuuuugh roughs.
First time playing here. I usually go out to Palm Springs, but wanted to try a local course this time. The front nine is right next to the highway, so it’s noisy. Doesn’t really bother me much, but might for some people.
Staff was friendly when I arrived and allowed me to play early and by myself instead of pairing with another player(s). Always thankful when they’re willing to do that.
The tee boxes weren’t bad, the fairways are great, and the greens were MINT. Absolutely beautiful greens, and not difficult. If you like putting straight, this is the course for you. However, I lost so many balls today because of you get in the rough, there’s no finding them. There are like 17,000 gopher holes and so many trees and bushes with shadows making it extremely difficult to find anything. There is only very slight fairway bending, so if you like to play off a slice you’ll have difficulty here as the fairways are narrow and straight.
The back nine was more beautiful that the front, because it introduced several water holes which always give the vibes.
All in all, I’d come back, but I’d wait for a deal because their peak rate is more than some PGA courses in the desert.
