Oak Valley Golf Club
About
This course used to be considered a hidden gem. Now, Oak Valley Golf Course in Beaumont is an off-the-beaten-path known reasonable joy. Stopping on the way from Los Angeles to Palm Springs for a golf detour is no fool's play. Not with the fast greens, dramatic elevation changes and swerving fairways available at Oak Valley in Beaumont.
A Lee Schmidt and Brian Curley design, Oak Valley is probably best known for greens that are anything but desert typical. Speed is the name of the game here, with a tap sometimes too much on a downhill putt.
Recognition does not travel that quickly. It took a decade for Oak Valley to get a four star rating from Golf Digest. Once it did, Beaumont suddenly became a golf stopping spot on the Palm Springs express. Now, you're considered a smart golfer if you linger on the way to Palm Springs.
"It's a nice getaway from the crowds in the desert, as well as some of the other, more populated golf areas," head pro Scott Arnold said. "It's almost like being in the country. No houses line the fairways. Each hole is different. And because of the way it's laid out, you often can't even see another hole from the one you're playing."

Course Management/Supervision
No marshals/mgmt. supervision as to what's happening to play on the course. Apparently (on this day) the paying public rates second to the Golf Academy kids playing in 5-somes...very annoying. Also multiple tees (#1, #2, & #3-white,) are dying and need to be completely re-sodded)
Golfen old lady
One of my favorite courses in the IE. My only complaint is: To get ice in the ice chest you need to take the ice chest upstairs to the restaurant and purchase something or no ice. The tip jar at the cart return is funny.
Golf, but hit and miss services
I've played this course about once a year since 2015, playing each time I'm visiting family in the area. Today, it was extremely hot. Without any explanation, there was no drink and food service, and the halfway house was closed. Although, there were water coolers when we played the first nine holes, by time we got to hole 10, an employee passed us and was collecting the remaining water coolers from off the course (about 3:45 p.m.). While the course was in good shape and fun to play, beware that you may be risking serious dehydration unless you plan ahead and bring all the fluids you might need, without the expectation of being able to get more from the course.
Hot but great comditions
The course was in great condition and not busy due to the heat late in the afternoon. If you can tolerate worth a play. Bring your own water and ice. The course won’t give you any.
Where do I begin?
The desk forgot to give me a key for the golf cart so I had to walk back upstairs to get it. Then when I took my cart to go find ice for the cart cooler I was told I had to go back upstairs again to get ice??? The practice green was nice and quick. However my downhill putt on the first hole never got half way to the hole. The second hole was the opposite. I blew my putt 12 ft past the hole. My putter is the best club in my bag. Inconsistant greens. The tee boxes need to be trimmed. The course layout was pretty good. Very scenic. Dont hit your ball in the rough. It resembles a cow pasture. Fairways were good. I didnt see a chipping green but I didnt ask either. The course has promise.
Oak Valley - Solid
The course is kept in fairly good shape. Greens have healed nicely from aerification and rolled true and receptive to approach shots. The fairways had solid lines and although rough was thin in some areas, it was good enough to put a precedent on hitting fairways.
The 1906 Bar and Grill is open and staff was very friendly.
There were only two complaints. I wish they had a beverage cart that was on course because you need to stock up before teeing off and at the turn. They did run out of range balls in the morning and that could be an operations issue but I would recommend that they get new range balls as they are heavily used. However, the practice tee was very good.
Overall, it was a very enjoyable day and will come back. It’s competitive in pricing to the area but on the higher end considering no beverage cart and no gps on the carts. The new carts do have a hidden gps to prevent you from getting to close to the greens.
Laid back
I like this course because it's peaceful and laid back. It's not always in perfect condition but it's decent.
Gen. Conditions
Great golf course; well maintained; rough is really penalizing, bunker behind #15 however, is a disgrace (cement-like dirt underneath weeds). Greens have turned fast this week!
