Rough day
Pretty easily the worst course conditions I’ve ever played. Everywhere you hit, regardless if you were in the middle of the fairway, was dirt. The only saving grace was their greens which are pretty well maintained. Other than that, it’s hard to justify playing this course even for the low cost.
So much potential
The greens are solid for a muni. The course doesn't water so you're playing off of dirt for the majority of the round. Sad because the course has potential. Hole #3's fairway was completely dirt. No grass, just dirt.
Someone please do some maintenance
We figured it out....when most of the fairways are dirt, you don't have to cut the remaining single blade of grass.
Where are the Marshalls? We had over a 5 hour round, often with 3 groups on a hole.
City of Chula Vista should be ashamed to have their name on the course.
Two Good Things
There are two good things about this course right now.
1 - The staff is as friendly as they come.
2 - The greens roll true.
Ugh!
I could live with the dirt fairways given the price, but the slow play made me quit after 10 holes! Play was already slow, then a FIFTH player who said he was a Marshall joined the group in front of me!
DUMP!
As the title says, dump! If this place had grass the layout would be that much more. If I wanna play on nothing but dirt I'd go to the desert and kick rocks. I'll give it 2 thumbs up for being the most ghetto course in San Diego. Pretty sure most of the people who play here couldn't get a tee time anywhere else or just couldn't pass up the price! Chula Vista spending to much time and money trying to make the bayside look like a diamond surrounded by trash and forgetting about everything else!!
save your money
Probably the worst course in San Diego. The fairways are just dirt so you won’t be hitting off grass ever. We jokingly had somone putt off the tee box and watched his ball roll forever on dirt. Pace of play was horrible, took us just over 5 hours. Save your time and money, go somewhere else
Searching for Grass: A Golfer’s Wild Expedition
A dusty adventure if you’re looking for a golf course that truly test your skills and sense of humor, look no further than this Gem! I recently played here and let me tell you, it was an experience like no other.
1. Fairways or Dust Bowls?
Calling the fairways “nonexistent” is a bit generous. Imagine playing on a mix of dirt and the occasional weed peeking through. If you’re looking for the thrill of an obstacle course, you’ve found it! Just be sure to bring your best shoes because you’ll be more likely to leave with dust on your soles than grass stains.
2. The Great Grass Hunt
Finding actual grass was like playing a game of hide-and-seek, except the grass was really good at hiding. It seems the weeds decided they’d take over the course, and I can say they did a splendid job. If you’re a fan of the wild side of nature, you’ll fit right in!
3. Putting Greens:The Oasis
Now, let’s talk about the putting greens. They were the only part of the course that seemed to get any love and water! They shone like diamonds amidst the dirt. It’s almost as if they were saying, “ hey, we may be surrounded by chaos, but we’re fabulous!” Honestly, I think the putting greens could have their own instagram account.
In conclusion, if you’re up for a round of golf that’s equal parts comedy and calamity, this course is for you. Just remember to pack your sense of adventure, and maybe a broom to sweep off the dust after your round. You might not play your best golf here, but you’ll definitely leave with some hilarious stories to share.
Some day this place will be awesome
Love this place but the city needs to fix the river problem and fairways need grass desperately. Greens are very nice but bunkers need sand.
More dirt than grass
Fairways are 80% bare of grass. Great for a long drive roll-out, but miserable for second shot . I'd guess they are saving a bunch by not having to cut the grass - since there IS NONE. Will they EVER fix the third hole? Also, no Marshall to help alleviate the 5+ hour round, and allowing 5 somes. The City of Chula Vista should be ashamed of the conditions.
