Steele Canyon Golf Club - Canyon/Ranch
About
Steele Canyon Golf Club is a 27-hole layout designed by Gary Player that is hailed as one of southern California's best courses. The holes are divided into three nines that are played in different 18-hole combinations. The Canyon, Ranch, and Vineyard nines each offer a different set of challenges. The Canyon/Ranch Course starts in an expansive canyon, climbs across dramatic elevation changes, and then wraps around an operating ranch. Free-roaming cattle wander all along the back nine. Although there are no blind shots, golfers will be faced with uneven lies and elevated greens. Steele Canyon's signature hole is the Ranch's par-4 third hole. The tee is perched 175 feet above the fairway and plays into the prevailing winds that blow from left to right. It is one of San Diego County's most memorable holes.

New to the game what a beautiful place to play thank you to the staff
Best course for the money
Great course, great food, greens and fairways in excellent shape
Jamul's Hidden Jewel
This course is amazing! Anytime it is featured on golf now for under $80 I try to book a tee time. The greens are great and the course is well manicured. The elevation holes on canyon are fun and challenging...if you get a chance to play Steele Canyon don't miss the opportunity...you won't be disappointed!
This course is always in great condition!
Any of the 3 nine hole courses here are always nicely kept and in great condition. We usually play Canyon/Ranch but it was nice to play Ranch/Meadow for a change. We played under a threat of rain but had only a few sprinkles. As a result of the possible weather we had an empty course and never saw anyone either ahead or behind us. We finished in four hours without hurrying at all. A delicious lunch afterwards capped off a very nice day!
Steele Canyon Ranch/Meadow
The staff was courteous and helpful. I was a single and the starter offered to send me out with a twosome on the Canyon/Ranch package which is the most requested package, but I decided to play Ranch/Meadow because I didn’t want to wait a half hour for the twosome to show up. The course conditions were excellent and even though I was stuck behind a foursome the pace was still good. I’m a 4 handicap and I shot a 78 from the tips. The course offers the most discriminating offer a challenge. A yardage book is a must for first timers.
Nice track
Good course, well maintained......each of the three nines are different so it offers good variety.
Nice Couse
Challenging set of three 9-holes. Course knowledge or a course book would help shoot a good round. No GPS on the carts, which surprised me for the price charged. Overall a good golf experience. Staff needs to brush-up on their hospitality skills.
Winter conditions, still great
Most courses at this time are getting worn down due to the change in weather, but Steele canyon is still holding its own. Their greens may be a touch sandy and fast but the tee boxes and fairways are still in tip top condition. Best course I've played in the last month.
GOLF COURSE
The golf course is beautiful too mild.Golf is well focused and surrounded by mountain!
Where does one find a "course book"?
ONE OF THE BEST COURSES IN SAN DIEGO !
THE COURSE CONDITIONS ARE THE BEST I HAVE SEEN AT THIS TIME OF THE YEAR OF ANY COURSE IN SAN DIEGO COUNTY ! THE GREENS WERE ROLLING PURE AND FAST AROUND 10 ON THE SM AND THE TEE BOXES WERE CLEAN AND MANICURED SHORT GRASS ! KUDOS TO THE GREENS KEEPER AND ALL THE STAFF AT STEELE CANYON ! BEST VALUE FOR THE $$$$
Exceptional
Great place to play. Greens were deceptive just when you think you got it down, they throw a curve at you.
Challenging course
Great course good shape I would recommend to anyone!
Thank you.
beautiful
Awesome course and staff!! Had a blast can't wait to go back!!
Steele Canyon - One of San Deigo's Finest
Steele Canyon has always been one of the favorite courses in San Diego for my son's and I. The rates for locals where very fair and the course was at it's challenging best. We played Canyon/Ranch which is the more challenging combinations. Pace of play is always kept up and that makes for a beautiful but not long round of golf. I'll be back!
Great day
Beautiful and very challenging course well maintained and all staff were gracious and mannerly
Better kept secret...
Great place to play if you're willing to drive a few minutes from San Diego. Very nice facilities and a very good value.
Pace of play is typically within reason and the greens are well maintained and quick.
Tee boxes on some holes could be improved as well as traps but overall I think it is a must play.
Three 9's: Canyon the most challenging, with Ranch and Meadow right behind.
Show up a few minutes early to gauge the speed of the greens on the practice putting area.
This course is well designed.
Enjoyed the round. Disappointed that Canyon course was not part of Golf Now package.
The course rotation varies depending on what time of the day your tee time is booked. You may always call the golf shop after booking your tee time to see which courses you are on and make requests if available.
Good as I remembered
I played Steele Canyon about 15 years ago. It was fun then and was fun again this time. We do not have "Canyon" course in PA, so I really enjoyed those holes.Recent maintenance on the course was the only drawback. Range was good and so was putting green. Greens were pretty much grown back in after aeration.
If you would be so kind as to email me with regards to your difficulties with our staff I would be happy to address it as quickly as possible. Thank you for joining us, I hope we can have you back and give you the proper hospitality that we strive to achieve for all of our guests.
