Steele Canyon Golf Club in Jamul offers three unique nines: Canyon, Vineyard, and Ranch. Gary Player designed all 27 holes, which are played in three different 18-hole combinations. The courses are considered some of the best golf in southern California. The Canyon/Vineyard combination starts with dramatic elevation changes and then transitions into the subtler nuances of the Vineyard nine. The hilly front nine demands accuracy and golfers should be prepared for some uneven lies. The Vineyard nine doesn't get any easier either with several water hazards and many holes that play directly into the prevailing winds. The Vineyard's sixth hole is one of Steele Canyon's hardest. This lengthy par 5 measures 582 yards from the back tees and requires a forced carry over a dry creek bed on your third shot.

Challenging and fun, great value

The greens were in excellent shape. The elevations were fun and several holes were very challenging. Beginners will lose balls. Staff was friendly and amenities were great. Public welcome, family atmosphere in the clubhouse. One of my new favorites!

Great Course

Overall course is great! Beautiful views, nice layout. Golf maintenance guys are doing a great job. For the rate, I would expect a little more help from cart staff. 120 bucks for me to have lug my clubs to and from my truck. Got to course with 3 guys on their phones and back from my round to 1 guy on his phone. Overall would go back ar a cheaper rate.

Love the layout

Had a very nice time on the course, the layout is a true test of golf. The greens are in great condition playing at a 10.5. I will definitely play again when I’m back in the area.

Way too much money for what you get!

When we went to get our golf cart it was raining and they said they didn’t have any towels to dry the seat.

Never saw the golf assistant until the 13th. hole where we informed him that play was very slow and maybe he should check in on the foursome 2 holes ahead. On the 16th. hole we saw the beverage cart for the FIRST time. We also had a ball land on the green on #1 on the Ranch while we were on the green. They might want to post a sign on the tee box making people aware if they’re going for the green off the tee box. Bottom line way to slow of play.

Won’t be coming back.
