Course Highlights
The three-nine layout delivers dramatic elevation changes and stunning scenery that consistently impress golfers unfamiliar with San Diego's hilly terrain. Friendly staff and well-maintained greens that hold up even after heavy rains make this course a reliable, rewarding choice.

About

Rating 71.8

Steele Canyon Golf Club in Jamul offers three unique nines: Canyon, Vineyard, and Ranch. Gary Player designed all 27 holes, which are played in three different 18-hole combinations. The courses are considered some of the best golf in southern California. The Canyon/Vineyard combination starts with dramatic elevation changes and then transitions into the subtler nuances of the Vineyard nine. The hilly front nine demands accuracy and golfers should be prepared for some uneven lies. The Vineyard nine doesn't get any easier either with several water hazards and many holes that play directly into the prevailing winds. The Vineyard's sixth hole is one of Steele Canyon's hardest. This lengthy par 5 measures 582 yards from the back tees and requires a forced carry over a dry creek bed on your third shot.

Way too much money for what you get!

When we went to get our golf cart it was raining and they said they didn’t have any towels to dry the seat.

Never saw the golf assistant until the 13th. hole where we informed him that play was very slow and maybe he should check in on the foursome 2 holes ahead. On the 16th. hole we saw the beverage cart for the FIRST time. We also had a ball land on the green on #1 on the Ranch while we were on the green. They might want to post a sign on the tee box making people aware if they’re going for the green off the tee box. Bottom line way to slow of play.

Won’t be coming back.

Fun course just a lil too pricey

Only complaint are beat up tee boxes. Greens are perfect and the whole course has amazing views.

vineyard 9 is aweful

soooo disappointing!! They put us on the vineyard and it was horrible. Sad becasue it feels like they had to cram it into the layout to appease the home builder not golfers. the Canyon 9 was a great and completely different stature. the starter was grumpy, never said a nice word only the cart number and when we could tee off. No, Hello how are you, hope youre having fun, have a nice round. Just all business no courtesy at all. Maybe he felt guilty for sending us down the vineyard 9

Canyon & Ranch

Such a friendly layout! Long off the tee but wide fairways to entice bombers. Overall it has friendly layout and worth a play. Will go back to this course.

Does not Disappoint

Played Canyon/Ranch with a member and his friend. The course was in great shape. I thought the layout was fair and rewards long tee shots. It has 4 tees to accommodate all levels of play. Hitting to the correct side of the fairways shortens certain holes considerably..The starter provided me their course book which was a great help for first timers. I would like to play Steele Canyon again.

Good course. Ridiculously overpriced

Great course but the price does not justify it. They constantly have been raising rates and now near the same prices as the top courses in the area. Why pay to play here when I can spend alittle more for Maderas or Torrey

challenging track, which i knew. In overall good shape, even though greens were recently punched, they still rolled true and quick, go figure. The course will test your game so play the appropriate tees.
