Gary Player designed the 27 championship holes at Steele Canyon Golf Club in Jamul. The holes are divided into three unique nines that are played in different 18-hole combinations. The nines, called Canyon, Vineyard, and Ranch, each offer a different character but they are equally challenging. On the Ranch/Vineyard Course, golfers will be playing alongside free-roaming cattle that wander across the grassy meadows. There are a few elevation changes but they are not as dramatic as on the Canyon nine. Water hazards come into play several times and there are strategically placed bunkers to contend with as well. The third hole on the Ranch nine is the signature hole at Steele Canyon. This tricky par 4 plays from an elevated tee that sits 175 feet above the fairway. It is made even tougher by the prevailing winds that blow from left to right.

Great course! Staff was friendly, Marshall Tim was awesome and was very respectful when we fell behind 9 min pace of play. Had bad experiences with other marshals. Thank you for the fun experience, will be golfing here again

Birthday present
Every thing was great on the course . Even though it was busy the pace of play did not suffer. My only thought was that the carts were sub par. Not much to complain about when everything else was very nice.

Great layout I normally only play Canyon/Ranch and would not recommend the Vineyard
As a side note the restaurant makes the best tuna melts in San Diego County that I've ever tasted

The Canyon
The course was awesome. The challenges of elevation changes and varying tee boxes continue. I am 77 years old so i do try to find the right distances to suit my aging game.

Not sure why you felt the greens were in poor condition. Possibly ball marks that were not fixed as it was a busy weekend with multiple events. Also, a mini tour event the previous week, they loved the greens! Rolling at a 10.5-11 on the stimpmeter and running true now, Sorry if you caught an unlucky time.
