Desert Falls Country Club
About
Can bunkers qualify as their own continent? Desert Falls Country Club in Palm Desert seems determined to find out.
This Ron Frehm design boasts bunkers so huge that they look like the inventor of the Big Gulp came up with them. And escape is anything but guaranteed. Sometimes getting out of one bunker, just means landing in another at Desert Falls.
That is just part of the reason this course totes a 128 slope rating - putting it among the five highest slope ratings in the entire Palms Springs area. Remember, this is the golf mecca with Pete Dye's Stadium Course, which was only designed to be "the toughest golf course in the world." Desert Falls is on that list.
There are five sets of tees to take away some of the bite. But the greens are still an obstacle of their own. These are undulating greens that are large enough to offer several varieties of challenges.
Just getting on the green is not enough at Desert Falls. It's important to land on the right part of the green. This is also a course with more hills than you expect to see in the desert.

Golfer Reviews
Needs markers and ball washers
Needs better directional markers and 100&150 markers
Very good course
good place to play
bunkers need more sand They were raked but hard bottoms
Poor shape poor amenities
If you don’t have GPS on carts there should be yardage markers!
Great layout but poor greens and bunkers
Layout is the selling point.
Bunkers are horrible and if your anywhere near the lips the grooming terrible.
Greens so not true, slow and bumpy.
Disappointed because considered buying a membership but after playing it a few times it never improves so won't be a member.
Also the reputation of the owner from homeowners is he doesn't care about the maintenance of the course or doing any improvements. The GM that was new was starting to make positive changes but was fired, The good personnel are let go PLUS the clubhouse food isn't recommended by homeowners; the restaurant fails health inspections regularly. I read the last report in the Desert News Online paper and it was disgusting the violations that occurred.
Was at this course early in summer last year and the staff was so nice but they are all gone, quit or were fired.
Great Course Bad Counter person
This is a great course it's in great shape the person in the pro shop Sunday morning not so great He had a very bad attitude that not only I thought so but the other 2 guys we played with said the same Bad attitude.
If you do not like your job then get a different one but don't ruin other people's day with all that negativity
Would not play again
Basics of the course are there, but not maintained well. Fairways seemed like semi rough and not mowed, moss on the greens and very bumpy, only matts on the driving range and piles of debree everywhere.
Grass heights cut on tall side.
Played here a month ago and the grass height is cut so high you end up loosing balls even a few yards off the fairways. Played again hoping they cut the grass lower but the same or higher. Little roll out on fairways and some greens a bit bumpy and slow..Nice layout but can be frustrating when loosing balls just off fairway.
Decent course with decent value
Great layout with lots of diversity . A definite reply for me .
terrible sand traps
the lay out in the back nine was a little confusing . the Sand Traps from the pro shop should be told to the customer to move it anywhere , the walls are brick walls , in the middle of the fairways, very unfair.
Great condition!
I've played a few times. Course in best shape I've seen. Pro shop is basically empty. Cart was old and beat up. Go only for the course if you got a good deal. Not worth $100+.
