Desert Falls Country Club

About
Can bunkers qualify as their own continent? Desert Falls Country Club in Palm Desert seems determined to find out.
This Ron Frehm design boasts bunkers so huge that they look like the inventor of the Big Gulp came up with them. And escape is anything but guaranteed. Sometimes getting out of one bunker, just means landing in another at Desert Falls.
That is just part of the reason this course totes a 145 slope rating - putting it among the five highest slope ratings in the entire Palms Springs area. Remember, this is the golf mecca with Pete Dye's Stadium Course, which was only designed to be "the toughest golf course in the world." Desert Falls is on that list.
There are five sets of tees to take away some of the bite. But the greens are still an obstacle of their own. These are undulating greens that are large enough to offer several varieties of challenges.
Just getting on the green is not enough at Desert Falls. It's important to land on the right part of the green. This is also a course with more hills than you expect to see in the desert.

Nice Course
First time I played this course and found it to be a good choice. The wide open fairways are great but it has hazards that make you play other clubs rather then the driver on each hole. I will be playing it again.
This golf course was truly remarkable!
The gentleman in the pro shop was a true professional, as the first individual we met who represented this golf course. He was an excellent "ambassador " for Desert Falls golf course.. Our first tee starter, Elaine, was very knowledgeable and welcoming. Elaine made our start to our round of golf at Desert Falls truly memorable. We will play this course again and again. Thank you for a FANTASTIC day of golf. Thomas.
Woman Starter
It was a treat to see a woman starter. Haven’t ever seen this at any course in all the years i’ve lived in the valley. i also appreciated that she marshalled the back 9 and tried to get the pace of play picked up a bit.
The pro shop staff were also friendly.
thanks.
Not worth the money
There are plenty of better places to play in the C. Valley. You can skip this one. Poor conditioning of the greens, and unhelpful staff. Way overpriced. Simply not worth the money.
Great course & layout!!!
This course is beautiful and although it has many difficult challenges, narrow fairways, deep bunkers etc.... the incredible conditions and awesome views make it all worth it! It plays long from all sets of tees but if you can stay in your proper golf lane and play from the correct set of tees based off you true skills and not let your ego push you back to the "Blue's or farther.... you will enjoy it so much more!!! The conditions are excellent and you will not be disappointed. Plenty of water so beware and also course strategy is a must if you want to play well.
Decent course, fair price
I liked the course layout, there was a good mix of fairly easy to rather difficult holes. I really liked that we weren’t constantly bugged by staff trying to help (clean clubs, handle clubs, etc with an expected tip every time). The course was in decent shape, the greens rolled true and not too fast. I would play here again.
Desert Falls
This course is not worth the money. We played other courses in the area that were less money, in better condition, and included free range balls. No free range balls here. No beverage cart and non-alcoholic drink selection in the pro shop was poor-only Gatorade. Snack shop closed early (1:00) and how do you get to the restaurant? Not well marked. The only thing we liked was the course layout. Sorry to say but we won’t be back.
Good course layout
The course was fairly challenging. Enough water hazards and bunkers to make it interesting. Nice terrain variations. Grass was in good shape on tees, fairways, and greens. A good value for the money. Would definitely play here again.
Fun day
It was windy but it made a moderate course difficult overall an nice course
Great Experience
Course was in great shape, pace of play was very good, very friendly staff, plenty of amenities, driving range, chipping green, snack bars, etc. Well worth a visit.
Staff Friendliness
Arrived at the club with no rentals available as they were out being used in a morning tournament. As a person with experience in the golf industry I made some suggestions which would facilitate a solution to the issue. The Head Golf Professional refused to listen, failed to accommodate our needs and was discourteous to the point of being rude.
Good back nine
Large greens in good condition. Several blind shots--course knowledge is beneficial. Practice range on mats and balls are extra. But overall an interesting layout. Back nine much more interesting than front nine. Better players would like this course more than high handicappers.
