Galleon/Brigantine at Shipyard Golf Club
About
The Galleon/Brigantine Course at Shipyard Golf Club combines two of the three nine-hole golf courses at the club. Galleon/Brigantine has a rating of 72.7, with a slope of 133 from the championship tees.
The original nine holes - Galleon - meander through large oak and tall pines. Accurate placement of approach shots into heavily guarded greens is necessary on this nine.
Designed by Willard Byrd and built in 1982, alligators sun themselves along the scenic, water hazard-filled Brigantine nine holes. With slight doglegs and well-placed bunkers, this golf course requires shot making and a good short game.

Golfer Reviews
Great Course in Shipyard Plantation
Excellent practice facilities. The course layout was a bit challenging, but fair. The greens were perfect, they rec dived the ball well, and rolled true. Pace of play was slow, 2.5 hour first 9. The second 9 was better due to some of the groups only playing 8 holes.
Good course for the price
Course is overall in good shape. The greens were a little slow, but in good shape with the exception of a couple of spots on a few greens. I will definitely be back
Solid
Solid golf course. Gorgeous condition. Beautiful layout. Pace of place was expected. Just beautiful scenery and solid golf.
Good Golf
We signed up online thru GolfNow. When we got there, the staff member checking us in was awesome. He gave us a lot of good information. We were traveling and wanted get out earlier if possible and the team was able to provide that for us. The course was in great condition on a good weather day.
Good round and course in good shape
Enjoyed our round playing the Brigantine and Galleon nines at Shipyard. Club is nice and has good practice areas. Starter could have spaced out groups a bit to help manage play. Ranger was aggressive when calmly discussing pace of play. Fairways, Tee boxes and Greens in real good shape. Will try again next trip.
Gorgeous course
Hadn’t played Shipyard in many years and has happy I came back. Played the Brigatine and Galleon courses. Really showed off the beauty of the island and was in great shape! Greens rolled true like a carpet. Staff was very welcoming and friendly. Highly recommend.
Shipit
Course was well maintained especially the greens.Rental clubs were nice except no 60 degrees wedge. Pace of play slow…seemed like a lot of people who were beginners. Staff was friendly and helpful.
Beautiful day…nice course.
Staff were not very friendly. Walked into pro shop and neither guy spoke to me until I have been at the counter for well over a reasonable time. They were glued to their phones.
Three guys at welcome stand by carts and no one offered any assistance.
Pace of play was very slow. We waited nearly every shot.
Great great course
Loved it!! Greens are the best on the island!! beware of the gators!!
J & J
The course was well maintained and conditions were good. The course is great for a person who has not played much( like post winter/after a long period of not playing) because there fairways are wide and forgiving . The greens were in excellent condition and not tricky. The operations staff was very friendly and courteous.
Lived up to previews good #2 dogleg on B course
Played 1st 2 holes then started racing and had to stop after 7th hole. Got refund for back 9. So can't really rate full course played 4 holed in rain hard to rate condition of full course or what it would have been like not playing in rain. Based on 1st 2 holes course was terrific, interesting and challenging fun. Which we could have played full 18.
Excellent Greens, short course
I thoroughly enjoyed this course. The greens were in excellent condition. The grass was just a tad long and slow, but they ran true on every hole.
Shipyard is an underated gem!
Golfed at shipyard and was blown away by the service provided! We had golfed at golden bear before shipyard and thought golden bear would be better. It wasn’t! Shipyard thought of everything from an iced stocked cooler on the cart to fresh towels on the cart and balls and tees! We didn’t get any of that at the previous place so was a nice surprise. They also had a practice, chipping area, driving range and putting green. Will be coming back to do the unlimited 3 day golf package! Love Shipyard!
