About
River Falls Golf Plantation in Duncan is a Gary Player Signature Course. Its location makes it convenient for meeting up with people coming from Asheville, Columbia, Atlanta, or Charlotte. The golf course is also just minutes away from downtown Greenville. The narrow layout will test the accuracy and shot making abilities of even the best golfers. Rolling hills provide a variety of elevation changes that range from subtle to dramatic. Water hazards come into play frequently and there are also strategically placed bunkers framing the greens and fairways. Player crafted a golf course that is both formidable and scenic. The abundance of mature trees helped him achieve this. He carefully wove River Falls Golf Plantation through the mature forests, allowing the trees to surround the holes, giving each a secluded and peaceful feel.

Let the fairways grow
First time here, and a really interesting layout....quite unique. Not as much sand as other Gary Player courses I have played, but course certainly has great character. Tee to green course was in great shape......EXCEPT.....fairways were cut way too thin....to the point where they were stressed out in some areas. Unfortunate, because you can tell they are nice & full, but just cut way too short. Almost impossible to get a Lob or Gap wedge under the ball for approach shots.....which kind of dictate scoring well. Greens roll true & fast enough. Will definitely return again......with hopes that the fairways are a little more lush. Its a shame, because you can see they are nice grass & full. Also, the gas golf carts are old & finicky....have to push on the brake to get it to start....maybe I just had a bad one!!!
94 degrees with a heat index well above 100 and no water on the golf course. Every water cooler was removed due to covid. Yet, personal coolers are not permitted and golf carts do not have coolers on them. Only course in upstate SC that I've played that does not have on course water coolers, this 16 months after covid. Will not be playing here again until this is changed.
Nice course. Elevation change, including several signature holes. Would play again.

Carts
The carts were terrible! The brake pedal was difficult to lock, needed to press the gas pedal several times before it would start and when it did, it would jerk you.
The cart paths are in bad condition. Very rough.

Not all it’s cracked up to be, not worth the price of admission
For 50 dollars for 18 holes you would expect a lot better. Decent layout but the course conditions were questionable. Played at way better courses in the area for way less than the price here.

Fair Challenge
Friendly and helpful staff. Fairly narrow fairways requiring accuracy off the tee. Not overly long, but some blind shots and several doglegs to keep you focused. Greens were a little rough and slow. Played with some guys that play there regularly, they said condition of greens was unusual. Overall a course I will enjoy returning to.

This is probably the bast shape I've seen this course In the last couple of years. Greens should be perfect in a couple of weeks since they've punched them

Great Layout
This Gary Player design had a great layout. Greens weren’t in the best shape due to the heat but that is to be expected in the south.

Only the Front side was open - AERATING back
Front side was All that was open. Aerating the back today.. Did the front side yesterday. It would have been nice to have known aerating was going on before booking a round. That said - the pro shop was extremely friendly. Got me right out and told me if I had any issues when turning ( going back to first tee ) let him know. First time playing here in like 5 years. I remembered a couple of interesting holes here but they are on the back and did not play them today. Give it a couple weeks and give them a try.

Two courses in one great track
Front nine felt like playing in Charlotte back nine felt like I was in the mountains great layout fairways very good some greens were a little burnt but putted very well layout keeps u interested they the whole round. Well worth the hour drive for me

Course was a lot of fun played from the tips fused almost every club in the bag the only negative thing is the greens looked beautiful but they were really slow where I come from the running out of 12 or 13 but really nice golf course

Ain’t worth a penny
Price is to high for a course that looks and feels like a goat track. Carts kept messing up and wouldn’t go. Starter had a huge attitude that groups in front were even complaining about. The pace of play was unbelievably slow. Definitely needs a different land maintenance team.
