River Falls Plantation

About
River Falls Golf Plantation in Duncan is a Gary Player Signature Course. Its location makes it convenient for meeting up with people coming from Asheville, Columbia, Atlanta, or Charlotte. The golf course is also just minutes away from downtown Greenville. The narrow layout will test the accuracy and shot making abilities of even the best golfers. Rolling hills provide a variety of elevation changes that range from subtle to dramatic. Water hazards come into play frequently and there are also strategically placed bunkers framing the greens and fairways. Player crafted a golf course that is both formidable and scenic. The abundance of mature trees helped him achieve this. He carefully wove River Falls Golf Plantation through the mature forests, allowing the trees to surround the holes, giving each a secluded and peaceful feel.

Great course
Even in winter golf this course never disappoints one of my favorite courses in the upstate.
Very nice course!
Only complaint was there are no visible arrows to 8th hole, it’s a tight intersection and easy to get on wrong path if your new to course (as we ended on 17 and had to turn around) otherwise excellent!
Thinking man’s course
Enjoyed the layout! A course that requires you to evaluate from many tees, “should I hit driver?” Greens were fast and rolled true
Winter Conditions at River Falls
The course conditions are what you would expect for winter conditions (dormant grass etc…). The greens were invert good shape and rolled true. They were very fast but consistent. The course itself is a lot of fun. So many challenging holes and several with very drastic elevation changes.
I would love to play this course again. The club house and restaurant were great as well.
A lot of fun!!
Great local course
Really enjoy RF. Course is in great shape and there isn’t a hole that I don’t really enjoy to play.
Pace of play
Course is to backed up, there was 12 people on one hole. I had to leave early because it was so backed up and I wouldn’t have had time to finish and it was only 1:30.
Slow torturous round
Had to change the cart at the turn, ragged. Poor Poor golf card, zero layout info on it. Poor signs to next hole. Unbelievable slow round, no marshaling. The only redeeming feature was that greens were fast and true.
River falls
Loved it as usual. Staff are nice. Pace of play is not the best but it is as good as anywhere else in the area. Losing a few greens but they still rolled out well and were fast. Paired up with some locals who were super nice. Great place
Fun course
Course is not long. Greens are excellent. Tees and fairways good. Winds through a nice neighborhood. Passed two nice young fellas on 3 and never saw another player so caught it on a good day. If you don’t keep it in play it’ll be a long day. Great layout.
Nice course, friendly staff.
Course was in good shape, especially the greens. Everyone working there was very friendly! Challenging course!
Mixed Bag
Course is beautiful and in great shape. Holes are challenging - bring extra balls.
Pace of play is terrible. Have played there several times this year and there’s always an issue with pace. Starts to pick up around the 6th and then gets ridiculous on the back nine. 2-3 groups deep at each hole, just waiting. Forget having any rhythm to your game. Have not seen a ranger any time I’ve been there.
Challenging Course, Solid Rates, Poor Pace of Play
Overall, we really enjoyed playing this course. Being a Gary Player course is going to challenge all skill levels of play, especially not knowing the course for the first time.
Overall, all of the tee boxes and greens were in great shape overall. The fairways were well kept and the rough was well manicured (and pretty thick and challenging if you ask me).
The greens were fairly hard and rolled fairly fast, especially after the morning dew dried off.
Our biggest complaint was the pace of play. It took us over 5 hours on a Monday with a 1040 tee time.
This won't deter me from playing here a second time, but I hope the next time the pace of play is much better!
