Amazing deal
One of the best courses in Oregon, classic tree lined course, with unique water features and layout. Pace as slow as expected on a rare 60 degree Saturday in February. Off green was very thick on some holes, greens were in winter shape, some lumpy, others firm and fast. Love this course though, always a treat to play here.
Pumpkin Ridge
1st time playing there. Challenging and fun, as long as you were on the fairway. Even walking to the ball from cart path was hazardous! Quite muddy and slippery. Of course. It is February in portland. A bit pricey for the conditions. But would be willing to try again. Late summer.
Bummer
Since i first started playing Pumpkin in the '90s it has been one of my favorites because I like the layout. However, over the past 4 years the course conditions have deteriorated a lot. Granted we had a tough summer last year, and granted we had a rainy Dec & Jan, but the day before I played PR I played the OGA course which was in markedly better condition.
I no longer look for opportunities to play there due to the conditions and pricing, nor do I recommend it. I would have given it one star if I didn't like the layout.
All temp greens
Really disappointed
Expected to play the course but the weather didn't cooperate. It froze the night before. So sadly they didn't allow any access onto the greens on any of the holes.
Not worth full price round
2 temporary greens and very mushy play.with sand on greens.
Cold and wet
They can’t control the weather out there. Fun design. I look forward to getting a tee time when it’s not 39 degrees and raining.
Wrong time of year.
Course itself is a mudhole. Every other aspect of the experience was great.
Disappointed
The layout is great, the staff is professional. The golf course itself is a mudhole. NO APPARENT DRAINAGE, Greens were great but for the money and the prestige, EXTREMELY disappointed.
Great course at a great price!
I visit my stepdaughter in Portland at least once per year and always try to make a Pumpkin Ridge pilgrimage. It is an outstanding layout, interesting with great golf terrain. The par 3's are outstanding!!! The course had been punched and top dressed and was a little muddy this time with slow greens . But for late October, the conditions were excellent. Its about a 30 minute ride from Portland and well worth the trip, especially for $45.
Sand sand sand
They should have disclosed that the course was under maintenance (aerated and sanded) totally felt ripped off for the price.
A Gem
Fairways that feel slightly sponge like to the step and an incredibly even mowing was so impressive and resulted in great lies for every shot.
Quite picturesque on several holes. There is an accordion feeling, going from generous to frighteningly narrow fairways .
Greens were receptive, and putted fast and true.
Beautiful but tough layout
Got afternoon tee time and was really excited to play the course. Met by no outside services, but there were four individuals working behind the front desk when you check in. Could have used some of their man power as there was trash/masks laying on the ground outside the doors. Was told to meet the other three players on the first tee at my reserved time. I assumed there was a starter around, but there was nobody. Players were a bit confused as to who was paired with who and who’s turn it was to assume the first tee box. Course layout is awesome and in good shape. They didn’t allow carts, and it’s a tough walk. They offer a pull cart, but the majority of them have reached their expiration date. So, if you have your own pull cart or light carry bag then bring one of those. Course was great, cleanliness of the clubhouse area, and lack of outside services was disappointing. Maybe I was expecting too much. Nonetheless, would play again.
Lovely course
Second time playing this course. It’s beautiful, well-kept, and had a great first experience. My only complaint is that there was an extremely(!!) slow twosome in front of us. They took multiple tee shots each, spending more than five minutes between the two of them to tee off, never mind their pace of play once in the fairway/rough and on the green. It made for an extremely painful back nine. They didn’t have the etiquette to let us nor the foursome behind us to play through on a couple opportunities. They created quite the bottleneck and I never saw a marshal to help enforce the pace of play.
