About
Located next to several residential areas, the golf course at the Apache Wells Country Club was designed with seniors in mind. With that consideration, the course is mostly flat to make it an easily walkable. The course was originally only a nine-hole course but in 1966, Milt Coggins designed the back nine holes. Trees line many of the fairways and there is also a housing development that runs alongside the fairways. Water hazards also come into play on several holes. Being so close to a residential area, there are many out-of-bounds stakes on both sides. Apache Wells Country Club is open to the public from mid-April to the end of October.

Beautiful course
Really a hidden gem. A beautiful course and its it's only going to get better. I would recommend this course to anyone who loves beautiful green grass.
Great end-of-summer value
We've played the course many times and have never been disappointed. The $23 on-line rate including a meal voucher is hard to pass up ! Conditions are above average compared to other courses at this (overseeding) time of year.
NICE COURSE , GOOD VALUE
THE COURSE WAS IN GOOD CONDITION , RATE WAS VERY GOOD FOR SUMMER PLAY .
Coming out of aeration
Course is generally in pretty good shape for this time of year. Not a lot of golfers after about 11 am, nobody to hold you up. Flat course with four par 5's on the back. Blue tees are just over 6000 yards. pretty open and accommodating.
I owned the course today
I was probably the only person on the course today, as temps were forecast to reach 111°. I had a 10:10 tee time, arrived at 9:30 and went right out. Made for a great practice round, as nobody was in front, or behind me. Greens were recently aerated and sanded, so putting was dicey at best. Fairways were decent, some burnout as is the case on the majority of courses in the Phoenix area right now. This is an open course, not much trouble to deal with. For $10, better practice than a driving range. Staff at the pro shop was awesome!
Late to open
I like this course. Got there early by 5:40 AM for a 6:03 tee time. The door to the pro shop did not open until 6 AM. We were knocking on the door and someone was inside but did not open the door. It seems like they should open earlier to give you time to get your cart, and prepare to play.
Then, we went to the tee and there were some guys from the neighborhood that must play everyday who just went ahead of us. When I asked if they had checked in, they said no and that they just play when they want.
It is a nice course but should open up on time.
Slow play
We decided to play here again because the pace was great under 4:30 with CPO in November. This time again staff in pro shop were not very friendly or fast checking us in. They had a tournament on the course that was extremely slow and didn’t seem anyone cared about that. First twelve holes was great pace. We quit then because there were people quitting in front of us because there were 3 groups on the next tee and we were going to be the 4th. Would not play here again. Fairways and greens in great shape but no upkeep along walls and boundaries by homes.
Nice course though the staff was rude and would not honor rate booked through GolfNow.
This was our first time playing this course and we found it to be in excellent shape, though the greens tended to be on the slow side. The round was booked as a 9:00 am tee time through GolfNow, however, the day before we were called and informed that there are no 9 am tee times and that our booking should have been for an 8 am shotgun. The tee time booked was supposed to include a $5 lunch voucher, however, when we checked in we were told they would not give us the $5 voucher, and we would have to talk to GolfNow and file a complaint with them.. According to the staff member in the pro shop, “we do not give away free food!” Our booking also indicated we had a remaining charge of $29.00 due at the course. We were taxed an additional $2.33 for each player even though taxes had already been paid. Bottom-line, the course was good to excellent, the booking and staff not so much so.
Excellent conditions....nice layout.....short course
This is a short course in a residential area that caters more to the senior golfer. Conditions were great as we were Day 2 of opening after reseeding. Not much trouble to get into. Zero on course amenities - no ball washers, beverage service, club cleaners at end, etc. Shotgun start 2x a day was a bit odd but we didn't wait on a single hole so pace was great....although not busy at all.
Boring course
Greens and tee box had long grass after seeding, which is understandable, but the course layout was really flat and boring. I was very surprised the course gets away with charging even $30. I won’t be back there again. Staff was rude.
