Apache Wells Country Club
About
Located next to several residential areas, the golf course at the Apache Wells Country Club was designed with seniors in mind. With that consideration, the course is mostly flat to make it an easily walkable. The course was originally only a nine-hole course but in 1966, Milt Coggins designed the back nine holes. Trees line many of the fairways and there is also a housing development that runs alongside the fairways. Water hazards also come into play on several holes. Being so close to a residential area, there are many out-of-bounds stakes on both sides. Apache Wells Country Club is open to the public from mid-April to the end of October.

Well maintained
Fun course though not very challenging. Greens we great and the course was in great shape
Perfect day for golf
Greens had been sanded and they had started to punch the fairways, but greens rolled well and no issues in the fairways. A foursome held up the pace for the entire day, and no one could move them along any faster. Group ahead of us was much more frustrated than we were.
Relaxing atmosphere
Mix up with tee times had me going off after a tournament. .... long round with some holes backed up with 3 or 4 groups.
Course was in good condition. On the short side but fun. Rates made it a good bargain.
Pleasant day at Apache Wells
Pace of play was excellent, played around under 2.5 hours. Course was wide open. Fairways were in good condition.excellent value!
Nice course
Course was in great shape. Pace was excellent never had to wait. Great staff, looking to play again soon.
Plain
The course was very boring.
Worth the summer price
My tee time was at 720 and they let me go early which was nice. The course was really straight forward. The Staff was friendly and informed me that the cart lady wouldn't be out which is good to know when walking. The pace of play was poor because there was a 4 some of ladies that wouldn't allow anyone to pass them. Other than that the course was pretty good and had only a few dead spots for the summer heat.
Generally a grear course with balanced 3,4 and par 5's. Thanks Hoyt Davis
Generally Great course with balanced 3 4 and par 5's. Thanks , Hoyt Davis
Apache Wells
great value and course was in good condition.
Nice little course
Not a bad course for $20 for 9 holes with cart. Only 2 drinking fountains and they were not cooled at all. Also kitchen is closed during summer so eat before you go. Alice Coopers trophy display is pretty cool though.
Great conditions
Course is in real good condition a natural transition to summer grass. Fairways are wide and greens run true. Somewhat easy layout great for walking. Play was a little slow at 4 hours considering I started out at 6:30 am. Usually the early morning players play faster. Staff at course and restaurant are very friendly even surprised me with a free hot dog meal with round.
Great course
Came out to AZ from Chicago for a wedding and had to play a round of golf on vacation. This course was perfect; very open and forgiving, greens were true to your stroke and had good breaks, sand was a little wet but that's ok because I wasn't in them, my brother was, and the view was amazing too. Definitely will play here again if I'm back in town.
one of the best values in the Phoenix/Scottsdale area
Course is well suited for couples and/or seniors. The course is very forgiving, however it does have some lenght (particularly on the back nine) and water. The staff was extremely friendly and accomondating. We enjoyed playing this course - particluarly given the pace of play ( under 3 1/2 hours).
This course has some of the best greens we have played!
I have played here on and off for years. This course is in the best shape I have ever seen. The whole facility is spotless. Tee boxes, fairways, greens and bunkers are very well maintained. Everyone of the staff from Pro to Bartender were great. We will be back for sure. Thanks
Great round
Apache Wells is an awesome course in excellent condition. And they are very busy just like a great Chinese restaurant is
not a cake walk
this course is not as easy as you would think, a 228 yd
par three from the blues for instance and the pin was back for 235 total yards. fairways excellent condition
Feels longer than Noted
Our foursome was sent off the back nine first, which is a little longer than the front. The course appeared to be in great shape, and most fairways are wide and open, which would indicate the potential for a lower score, but you still have to get some distance out of your drives and second shot. Even the par 3's seemed a little longer than normal running from 136 to 199. But, it is very enjoyable and requires accurate shot placement, especially around the greens.
the Greens
Due to sandy greens, most of the putts on the greens are a straight shot to the hole.
Great Course for summer golf
I would give it a 4 star overall except for he greens being sandy with putts running slow and a little bumpy. In another week, the greens should be in very good shape. The fairways were in very good shape. You can't beat this course in the summertime for the price. All staff are super friendly. A fun course for the average golfer. You won't be disappointed.
