Apache Wells Country Club
About
Located next to several residential areas, the golf course at the Apache Wells Country Club was designed with seniors in mind. With that consideration, the course is mostly flat to make it an easily walkable. The course was originally only a nine-hole course but in 1966, Milt Coggins designed the back nine holes. Trees line many of the fairways and there is also a housing development that runs alongside the fairways. Water hazards also come into play on several holes. Being so close to a residential area, there are many out-of-bounds stakes on both sides. Apache Wells Country Club is open to the public from mid-April to the end of October.

1st time
Old school course, reminds me of the muni courses I grew up on. Fairways and greens in great condition, especially for 110 degrees in the summer. Only saw a few burn spots. I didn't expect much but was pleasantly surprised and enjoyed my time. Played with a buddy and it was about a 2 hr and 45 min round.
Great Rate-Fun Course
This was not my first time playing this short, but tight track; and it certainly won't be my last. Always well kept, as this is closed to the public in the winter for members only, Apache Well G.C. winds through the old and new retirement community nicely, with challenging longer par 3s, and a little water and sand to keep it interesting. And for $10+ tax, on a weekend, it can't be beat! The greens were a little shaggy and we saw the beverage cart one time on number 5, but overall a good fun time in the East Valley. Enjoy!
Not Good Experience
Took over an hour to play two holes. When I got to the third tee box there was three groups waiting. Turned around and went home. Not happy!!!
First and last at Apache
My first time playing on the course's weekend double shot gun start at 8:00 am and 1:00 pm, and probably my last. The course was lush and green, but very flat, with little undulation on the greens and wide open fairways. However, the overall experience was disappointing.
I showed up at 7:30 am to find a 20 min. wait to pay with only 1 person working the desk for a full field shotgun! No surprise, the start was delayed. As the round proceeded, there were 2 and 3 group waits on every par 3. After a 5 hr. + round on a very short course, I went into the restaurant for a beer. I self served my first and when my larger group arrived, I order some food and another drink. The drink came right away, but 40 mins. after ordering most of our groups food had still not arrived and I left hungry at 2:30 pm.
I got a good rate because of our large group but I won't be back.
Really Improved
Played this course 4 years ago and was not impressed. Played November 2014 and what a difference. Went from goat ranch to Country Club. They had just over-seeded and was the course in great shape. Greens rolled terrific and fairways plush. Staff was excellent and what I like most was the morning and afternoon shotgun starts. Played 3 times in 5 days, all in the morning shotgun, and was finished every time in 3 1/2 hours.
apache wells
excellent all around I would recommend it to all my friends
Good for practice round
Wide open.
Flat.
Minimal difficulty. Slope 114.
Slow greens.
Good course for duffers or for better players in need of some live practice.
Course "private" during the high season.
Good. Deal
Good deal for $10. The course is green and a faily straight forward layout. For above average hitters it's not a Driver course. Greens were very fuzzy, uncut, however it has just rained heavily the day before. It's worth playing to practice, but don't expect it to be manicured to your expectation.
Summertime Golf
Course is incredibly green, and well maintained for late in summer. Semi Private, but always a nice course to play.
Hidden gem.
Decided to go check this course out randomly one morning. Didn't know what to expect. But a great surprise was had. Be prepared to be accurate off the tee, or be OB often! Want a challenge? Back nine; 228 yard par 3! Fairways grass are excellent. Bunkers have agreat feel to them. The greens, even though they had been punched a month ago, were pretty decent. I like that they have some decent breaks with higher and lower levels, and sometimes you need to take into account the mountains in the distance...
Played my best round yet, so I'll be going back for sure soon!
good deal for the money
for mid summer courses in pretty good shape good value other new heat I had a fun day
Good Deal
As usual Apache Wells was in good shape. It is a fairly easy layout inside a retirement community. The fairways are wide and there is still plenty of room off the fairways so wayward shots don't hit the residences. Greens were a little bumpy from recent plug/sand but it is summertime so no big complaints. Good summer price including a lite lunch. I will play it again.
First time at Apache Wells
I had an excellent days golfing, the course is relatively straight, and narrow at times. The bunkers are well maintained, will return soon
hidden jewel
This was a great course to play, the groundskeep has got to be one of the best out there, as the course is in GREAT conditions even at 110+ weather. Had a lot of fun and the pace was great, there's some great holes for advanced and intermediate golfers as well as a few for beginners.
Great Balance!!!
Very good conditions and value
This course was in very, very good shape for this time of year. Staff was accommodating. This course isn't long, but does present some challenges. The fairways are very wide. The greens rolled very true. This course is perfect for beginners and seniors. If you are a good player and want good conditions at this time of the year with paying a lot, you will have a fun round. If you are a good player your score on this course will boost your ego! It is summer, so there was no on-course services, you will find water fountains every 6 holes or so. If you are in the area give Apache Wells a try!
great course conditions
For late June, this course was in excellent shape from the tee boxes to the greens. It was in better shape than some of the "higher priced" courses in the valley. The greens rolled true and sometimes it was hard to find a ball mark. It's not super long on the yardage, but perfect for the average golfer--just have fun!.
Apache wells a good deal
Got it for a super low price. Loved the greens and fairways in great shape. No services on the course as this is country club catering to the winter crowd. Not many folks playing mid-morning in summer heat. Enough water and ice on course though so ok.
par 3's get your attention
this is one of my favorite courses to play in the summer
course is being worked on
I played the course on Friday and enjoyed it . went back out today Monday and got to the 10th hole and they were aierting the fairways. so be aware of that . when they finish it will be a nice course to play
Nice course. Well Run
It is a friendly, well maintained, fun course.!! Shotgun start,
