Apache Wells Country Club
About
Located next to several residential areas, the golf course at the Apache Wells Country Club was designed with seniors in mind. With that consideration, the course is mostly flat to make it an easily walkable. The course was originally only a nine-hole course but in 1966, Milt Coggins designed the back nine holes. Trees line many of the fairways and there is also a housing development that runs alongside the fairways. Water hazards also come into play on several holes. Being so close to a residential area, there are many out-of-bounds stakes on both sides. Apache Wells Country Club is open to the public from mid-April to the end of October.

Lazy Sunday
Apache Wells is perfect for beginners or 90% of the rest of the golfing public who need a 200 yard wide margin of error for their tee shots. This course takes "wide open" to a whole new level, but in a good way. The course itself is very well maintained, the greens roll true, and the pin placements are usually challenging with the intent of offering some defense to the short/wide open holes. In order to score you will still need to make shots though.
The lay out is features a couple extra par 3's and a couple extra par 5s which makes for an interesting
round. Apache Wells makes for a unique, quick, and stress free round of golf.
Nice course for senior players
Very nice course especially for seniors. Not very long or many challenges but wonderfully maintained and fun to play
a fun course to play
just after overseed, greens a little slow but very smooth. a nice thatch of new grass fairways were well grassed in. not long but you get to use all your clubs.enjoyable to play.
value golf
Course was in good condition. Greens were slow. Pace of play hasbeen slow and people dont let you play through.
Course in Great Shape
This was the first day of play after reopening from over seed. So the course was cart path only. But the course is fairly flat and an easy walk anyway. The over seed was done on the fairways and greens. The over seed was very successful and complete. The greens, as one might expect., were a little slow on uphill putts but generally readable and eminently playable with a soft to moderately firm quality. I enjoyed the round a great deal. This is not a course that is comparable to many Scottsdale country club facilities. But it is an excellent course that is well maintained.
Apache Wells
Awesome course!!! Great condition too!!! Great buy for the money, will play there Again!!!
Good fun course for the average golfer.
Very flat course. Fairways in great shape. Greens are bumpy. Unless you are having a great round, this course can be very challenging.
Very well kept short course.
Apache Wells is a short course at just over 6000 yds from the tips. It doesn't have too much trouble in play to speak of. a little water and a few bunkers in good spots. It is however a very well kept course that is perfect for beginners, families and anyone who just wants to get a quick round in. Advanced players will probably only find fun in trying to outright wreck the course with scoring. I found the staff and the facilities in general to be very good.
Course was in excellent condition.
Course was in excellent condition, greens were fast, staff was freindly. Very accomidating for non-members.
Nice, open, layout
Played on Labor Day Monday as a 2'some in the morning & was very pleased at the pace of play, and overall layout of the course. Was my first time playing here and knew it runs through a 55+ neighborhood full of manufactured homes, and I liked the way both nines loop out & back, so you really never see a bunch of other golfers. The fairways are wide, there are only a few bunkers, and the water rarely comes into play. The only disappointment was how shaggy the greens were, which made them reallyyyy slow.
ragged condition
The main thing I have to say is that the greens were in pretty bad shape. They were very slow, and slightly bumpy. The tee boxes were rough as well. Maybe it will be better when the snowbirds arrive
Good course for the price
The course was in good shape. Fairways were nice and the rough was mowed. My only complaint was they needed a ranger or somebody to speed up play. There was also a 5-some two holes ahead of us. Not sure how that happened.
2-1/2 hour round of play - No waiting.
We teed off just before 9:30 AM and were done by 11:45 AM. Extremely fast round of golf (which was great on a hot and humid day). Fairways in very good condition. The greens were very slow, but rolled true. We saw the beverage cart 3 times. It was an enjoyable round on a fairly flat and easy course.
Shaggy greens.
Fairways have too many dead areas. Greens are too slow. Plays quick with few hazards. Play Painted Mountain instead.
Course is in perfect shape.
Course was in excellent shape. Fairways you could actually putt from near the greens. I would recommend playing this course to beginners as well as high handicappers. Its a little over 6000 yards from the back tees. Had a good time playing.
Good course, great shape
The greens were in very good condition. The fairways were good. Its not easy to keep them in great condition in Arizona during the summer. The staff was very friendly. Water is available throughout the course through drinking fountains.
Open course with little water
Able to see all obstacles on this short course. Enables faster play and an enjoyable round. No refreshment cart, so bring your own water.
Good value for the money.
Greens a bit fuzzy. Fairways spartan in places. Could have played faster but got behind 5-some.
Fun course to play
A few challenging holes. The course and green are usually in great condition. Well maintained.
