About
Located next to several residential areas, the golf course at the Apache Wells Country Club was designed with seniors in mind. With that consideration, the course is mostly flat to make it an easily walkable. The course was originally only a nine-hole course but in 1966, Milt Coggins designed the back nine holes. Trees line many of the fairways and there is also a housing development that runs alongside the fairways. Water hazards also come into play on several holes. Being so close to a residential area, there are many out-of-bounds stakes on both sides. Apache Wells Country Club is open to the public from mid-April to the end of October.

Hidden gem.
Decided to go check this course out randomly one morning. Didn't know what to expect. But a great surprise was had. Be prepared to be accurate off the tee, or be OB often! Want a challenge? Back nine; 228 yard par 3! Fairways grass are excellent. Bunkers have agreat feel to them. The greens, even though they had been punched a month ago, were pretty decent. I like that they have some decent breaks with higher and lower levels, and sometimes you need to take into account the mountains in the distance...
Played my best round yet, so I'll be going back for sure soon!
good deal for the money
for mid summer courses in pretty good shape good value other new heat I had a fun day
Good Deal
As usual Apache Wells was in good shape. It is a fairly easy layout inside a retirement community. The fairways are wide and there is still plenty of room off the fairways so wayward shots don't hit the residences. Greens were a little bumpy from recent plug/sand but it is summertime so no big complaints. Good summer price including a lite lunch. I will play it again.
First time at Apache Wells
I had an excellent days golfing, the course is relatively straight, and narrow at times. The bunkers are well maintained, will return soon
hidden jewel
This was a great course to play, the groundskeep has got to be one of the best out there, as the course is in GREAT conditions even at 110+ weather. Had a lot of fun and the pace was great, there's some great holes for advanced and intermediate golfers as well as a few for beginners.
Great Balance!!!
Very good conditions and value
This course was in very, very good shape for this time of year. Staff was accommodating. This course isn't long, but does present some challenges. The fairways are very wide. The greens rolled very true. This course is perfect for beginners and seniors. If you are a good player and want good conditions at this time of the year with paying a lot, you will have a fun round. If you are a good player your score on this course will boost your ego! It is summer, so there was no on-course services, you will find water fountains every 6 holes or so. If you are in the area give Apache Wells a try!
great course conditions
For late June, this course was in excellent shape from the tee boxes to the greens. It was in better shape than some of the "higher priced" courses in the valley. The greens rolled true and sometimes it was hard to find a ball mark. It's not super long on the yardage, but perfect for the average golfer--just have fun!.
Apache wells a good deal
Got it for a super low price. Loved the greens and fairways in great shape. No services on the course as this is country club catering to the winter crowd. Not many folks playing mid-morning in summer heat. Enough water and ice on course though so ok.
par 3's get your attention
this is one of my favorite courses to play in the summer
course is being worked on
I played the course on Friday and enjoyed it . went back out today Monday and got to the 10th hole and they were aierting the fairways. so be aware of that . when they finish it will be a nice course to play
Lazy Sunday
Apache Wells is perfect for beginners or 90% of the rest of the golfing public who need a 200 yard wide margin of error for their tee shots. This course takes "wide open" to a whole new level, but in a good way. The course itself is very well maintained, the greens roll true, and the pin placements are usually challenging with the intent of offering some defense to the short/wide open holes. In order to score you will still need to make shots though.
The lay out is features a couple extra par 3's and a couple extra par 5s which makes for an interesting
round. Apache Wells makes for a unique, quick, and stress free round of golf.
Nice course for senior players
Very nice course especially for seniors. Not very long or many challenges but wonderfully maintained and fun to play
a fun course to play
just after overseed, greens a little slow but very smooth. a nice thatch of new grass fairways were well grassed in. not long but you get to use all your clubs.enjoyable to play.
Course in Great Shape
This was the first day of play after reopening from over seed. So the course was cart path only. But the course is fairly flat and an easy walk anyway. The over seed was done on the fairways and greens. The over seed was very successful and complete. The greens, as one might expect., were a little slow on uphill putts but generally readable and eminently playable with a soft to moderately firm quality. I enjoyed the round a great deal. This is not a course that is comparable to many Scottsdale country club facilities. But it is an excellent course that is well maintained.
Good fun course for the average golfer.
Very flat course. Fairways in great shape. Greens are bumpy. Unless you are having a great round, this course can be very challenging.
Very well kept short course.
Apache Wells is a short course at just over 6000 yds from the tips. It doesn't have too much trouble in play to speak of. a little water and a few bunkers in good spots. It is however a very well kept course that is perfect for beginners, families and anyone who just wants to get a quick round in. Advanced players will probably only find fun in trying to outright wreck the course with scoring. I found the staff and the facilities in general to be very good.
