About
Located next to several residential areas, the golf course at the Apache Wells Country Club was designed with seniors in mind. With that consideration, the course is mostly flat to make it an easily walkable. The course was originally only a nine-hole course but in 1966, Milt Coggins designed the back nine holes. Trees line many of the fairways and there is also a housing development that runs alongside the fairways. Water hazards also come into play on several holes. Being so close to a residential area, there are many out-of-bounds stakes on both sides. Apache Wells Country Club is open to the public from mid-April to the end of October.

This course has great fairways
course was in great shape The greens were nice and in great shape.. The fairways were also in great shape. Over all it was a great satification playing this course I will not hasitate for one minuete in playing it again. Very satisfied with it.
Really nice course!!
My wife and I had never played this course but since playing it we would play it more often! The staff was friendly and helped us out on the do's and don'ts of the course. The course itself was very nice, the fairways were nice and green. The greens were rolling and had some challenge to them. When we started it was nice to have a refreshment station which you could get ice and water. Lots of fountains and washrooms on the course also. A really good all around course to play. We are definitely coming back!!
Laid back park style. Would have appreciated a heads up that the greens were being aerified.
Course maintenance should be posted with booking info.
First experience with shot gun tee time 8 or 1.
Play was slow due to shot gun tee time. Greens were in fantastic shape. Plenty of room off fairway for errant shots. Couse was in very good condition.
Fun and rewarding course.
I played this course with my wife and daughter and her husband. I liked the open fairways and the shotgun start. The course conditions were good and we all enjoyed the outing.
Very nice value course
I played the 8am shotgun start on Sun Feb 24, 2013. Apache Wells is a very nicely maintained course that serves a primarily retiree clientele. It's a flat track, but has enough bends, trees, water, and traps to keep it interesting.
It's only 6038 yds from the tips, so it's not really a long hitter's course. However, a couple of the par 3s are over 200 yds and none are under 150 yds. Three of the five par 5s are under 500 yds and the others only get as long as 536 yds, which makes for fun attempts at getting on in 2. The par 4s are between 330 yds and 398 yds, so none real short nor real long, which I enjoy.
The grounds and facilities are all very nicely maintained. There are ample bathrooms and water fountains around the course. There wasn't a beverage cart working on the day I played. I don't know if that's the norm.
Nice practice areas, although the range is a little short. They have an especially nice chipping and pitching practice area.
Great bvalue for the dollar.
Course was in good condition, however, greens were being aerated.
Fairly easy course, decent value.
Put together a last minute foursome with some players who have not played in a while. Was looking for something that wouldn't beat them up. Had played here before in a skins game and thought this would do the trick. Course was in decent shape although the greens were a bit slow, I guess that is good for the regular senior players. Fairways were OK and pace of play was good. The course plays pretty easy with the challenge coming on the longer (200+) par 3's. 19th hole was good and nice lunch choices. The other guys, who haven't played in a while, enjoyed the course. I would say it is best suited for higher handicap golfers and those just starting to play longer courses. For the better player, play it from the "tips" which isn't all that long. Keep the ball in play and you can do just fine there as there isn't much trouble.
Wonderful fun, perfect greens
Forgiving layout.
Greens fast, true, perfectly grassed.
Greens held shots.
User friendly golf at a wonderful price.
The course is a little on the short side but....you will find yourself chuckling with satisfaction on the ride home.
A somewhat simple course in great condition
From the new clubhouse, a shotgun start
To the eighteenth tee, in a brand new cart
The grass was green, the fairways weeded
It was cart path only, off the newly reseeded
The layout mere basic, mostly open and flat
But trees lined the sides, a hindrance at that
There is some water, two lakes, maybe three
Even one there to carry, on a tricky par three
The sand traps are present, but not overly done
Mostly around greens, usually two or just one
For a retirement park, it's not a short shoot
Theres par fours a plenty, with par fives to boot
It was a good choice, with both quality and value
I've played it before, and will certainly continue
Easy course but good value for price
Played couple weeks after overseeding so greens very slow and cart paths only.
Nice "traditional" Arizona golf course.
Even though it was the last weekend before overseeding, the course was maintained and playable.
Course is very forgiving.
Great value. Course always in great condition. Pace of play is very good.
A short, straightforward course.
Apache Wells, is a wide open, short course. It is fairly well trapped, and a fun track. Most greens have about a five foot ramp as you approach which makes it important to carry the approach shots to the green.
Outstanding Course
The staff is excellent and very friendly and helpful. The course is very well maintained and is a pleasure to golf at this course.
I highly recommend it to anyone that wants a superb golf experience.
Course is well maintained.
The course is challenging for an average golfer. It is well laid out and "bad" lies are not very common. Great course for someone who hits the ball straight. The back nine has four par 5s which requires a strong finish.
Good Course, Enjoyable.
The course was well maintained and there was no bunching up of groups. The restaurant was also very enjoyable and reasonable.
Right pace of play, right price. Conditions good.
We enjoyed the pace of play. Greens is good condition. Staff was friendly and helpful.
