About
Located next to several residential areas, the golf course at the Apache Wells Country Club was designed with seniors in mind. With that consideration, the course is mostly flat to make it an easily walkable. The course was originally only a nine-hole course but in 1966, Milt Coggins designed the back nine holes. Trees line many of the fairways and there is also a housing development that runs alongside the fairways. Water hazards also come into play on several holes. Being so close to a residential area, there are many out-of-bounds stakes on both sides. Apache Wells Country Club is open to the public from mid-April to the end of October.

Nice, open, layout
Played on Labor Day Monday as a 2'some in the morning & was very pleased at the pace of play, and overall layout of the course. Was my first time playing here and knew it runs through a 55+ neighborhood full of manufactured homes, and I liked the way both nines loop out & back, so you really never see a bunch of other golfers. The fairways are wide, there are only a few bunkers, and the water rarely comes into play. The only disappointment was how shaggy the greens were, which made them reallyyyy slow.
ragged condition
The main thing I have to say is that the greens were in pretty bad shape. They were very slow, and slightly bumpy. The tee boxes were rough as well. Maybe it will be better when the snowbirds arrive
Good course for the price
The course was in good shape. Fairways were nice and the rough was mowed. My only complaint was they needed a ranger or somebody to speed up play. There was also a 5-some two holes ahead of us. Not sure how that happened.
2-1/2 hour round of play - No waiting.
We teed off just before 9:30 AM and were done by 11:45 AM. Extremely fast round of golf (which was great on a hot and humid day). Fairways in very good condition. The greens were very slow, but rolled true. We saw the beverage cart 3 times. It was an enjoyable round on a fairly flat and easy course.
Shaggy greens.
Fairways have too many dead areas. Greens are too slow. Plays quick with few hazards. Play Painted Mountain instead.
Course is in perfect shape.
Course was in excellent shape. Fairways you could actually putt from near the greens. I would recommend playing this course to beginners as well as high handicappers. Its a little over 6000 yards from the back tees. Had a good time playing.
Good course, great shape
The greens were in very good condition. The fairways were good. Its not easy to keep them in great condition in Arizona during the summer. The staff was very friendly. Water is available throughout the course through drinking fountains.
Open course with little water
Able to see all obstacles on this short course. Enables faster play and an enjoyable round. No refreshment cart, so bring your own water.
Course was in very good condition, plays great.
Although it is a flat course, it plays in such a way that you must hit your shots straight and accurately. Conditions of the course were very good, Greens were just that, and fairways were in very good condition as well. Very happy with the conditions, well maintained.
Will return again
Booked a 3 some for 12.00 each..great open course, nice fairways, and yes as other reviewed greens are soft and slow.. not a bad thing as approach shots will hold but it took about 4-5 holes to get the speed down. I'm a 15+ HC so this course fits me great as its open but still challening with the bunker placements and water. Great battery-powered carts, good facilites, we'll be back and with hot deals you cant beat it.
fairways & greens in excellent condition
The course was in excellent condition. Pace of play was a little slow because a tournement was going on. This will occur every wed. Will book tee times either mon. tues. or thurs.
This course is in great condition!
We love playing Apache
Wells because it is always so well maintained. Year around we know it will be green and fun to place. The staff is always nice and friendly. We would definitely recommend this course. Give it a try,
course in great shape
The course is fun to play. not overly difficult but wide enough to absorb errors, etc.
Staff is friendly and I like the fact that the course provides cups, water and ice. That is a nice perk.
Good retirement community course
It was a nice second round for our trip to AZ. We enjoyed the company of a resident who showed us the way around the course.
It's flat and wide open, which my wife liked after a tougher first round on our trip. Many of the holes offer a challenge for mid-to-high handicappers like us.
The wait staff in the restaurant was super friendly and helpful. The food was good and well priced. The staff in the pro shop were helpful to the visitors.
Overall, a good experience.
short but fun
the course was in great shape..greens slow but smooth and true...fairway good....enjoyed the round very much due to conditions and fast pace of play
