Cave Creek Golf Course
About
Cave Creek Golf Course is Phoenix's most popular municipal course, seeing about 100,000 rounds yearly. In 1983, Cave Creek began as a landfill reclamation project. It's a sort of pioneer in environmental design, proving similar spots can find environmentally friendly uses. It's open dawn to dusk, year-round.
Eighteen holes of par-72 golf take golfers over 6,732 yards on the Cave Creek Golf Course, kicking off on the par-4 first hole, which measures 363 yards from the blue tees, before things get long on the second hole, which measures 510 yards from the blue tees. That's just one of four long holes, with the sixth hole measuring 532 yards from the blue tees, the 11th coming in at 521 yards from the blue tees, and the sixth having a distance of 518 yards from the blue tees. The round concludes after a suggested playing time of four hours and 10 minutes on the 18th hole, a par 4 that measures 388 yards from the blue tees.
The city of Phoenix has contracted with several hotel chains to offer stay-and-play packages for golfers at the Cave Creek Golf Course and other municipal tracks.

Sprinklers
Booked a tee time for 2:40 pace of play was great paid for 18 holes yet on the 13th hole at 5:50 they turned the sprinklers on all the holes so not only could we not finish the round but got soaked.
Round shortened
Beautiful afternoon to play. Tee time was 2:56. Course was in a disappointing condition. Cart paths have potential holes! Not sure why they even have them. Unusable to say the least. Tee boxes and greens in good condition. With 40 minutes left of daylight, we were starting hole 16 and they turned the sprinklers on without warning forcing us to end our round early. When returning the cart, there was an armed guard clearly showing he had a gun. NOT NECESSARY! Clearly they’ve had problems. As a city course, it needs to be reviewed. We will not be returning.
Phoenix value!
Considering that TPC Scottsdale is about six times as expensive, Cave Creek is a bargain; even compare to many other area courses, it's quite reasonable.
I enjoyed the layout, the greens were fast and in good shape; there's a few that are sloped to a degree where there's no fair hole locations (4-putted #18!), but they rolled true.
Some spotty conditions in the fairways, but overall very playable. I'll definitely return!

Great round , pace of play was great, front nine was tough
Gets a bit backed up on hole 7 all the time, otherwise I’ll be back
Great Value
I’m not from Phoenix, but I’ve played several courses here. Cave Creek GC is among the best for the money, for sure.
Pasture
Fairways and greens were good. Cart paths were dry, rough or non existent. Made rest of course seems like pasture pool.
Course needs some TLC
I had not played there in 3 years and will maybe never play there again. The course is in terrible shape and lots of patches of brown grass and dirt. Dirt bunkers, with no sand in sight. Cart paths are mostly dirt. The city has failed this course.
Marshall
Front 9 was great until hole 7, then things backed up and got slow. By hole 10 there was quite a wait so I just played the front 9 again
Someone on the course to move things along at 7 would be great
Your cart paths need work
You should get better signage especially for your back nine
More bathroom s
More irrigation on your fairways
Pace of play too slow
Course needs tlc
GOAT Ranch
No grass, cart paths non existent with people driving right up to greens, definitely a muni
Good public course
I love playing cavecreek even though after 10am pace if play is slow. Early morning pace of play is better.
Good value and day
Not as good condition as expected but acceptable. Played in under 4 hours.
Nice course
This is the third course I've played during my trip to Phoenix. Price is reasonable. Has the best condition of the three. Greens are fast with slope and undulations. Some pin placements were unfair where the ball would not stop around the pin but roll off some distance. Rough is hardpan as are most courses here. Would recommend.
A hidden jewel
I had the pleasure to play this GC for a first time and would return to play it again in the future.
