About

Cave Creek Golf Course is Phoenix's most popular municipal course, seeing about 100,000 rounds yearly. In 1983, Cave Creek began as a landfill reclamation project. It's a sort of pioneer in environmental design, proving similar spots can find environmentally friendly uses. It's open dawn to dusk, year-round.

Eighteen holes of par-72 golf take golfers over 6,732 yards on the Cave Creek Golf Course, kicking off on the par-4 first hole, which measures 363 yards from the blue tees, before things get long on the second hole, which measures 510 yards from the blue tees. That's just one of four long holes, with the sixth hole measuring 532 yards from the blue tees, the 11th coming in at 521 yards from the blue tees, and the sixth having a distance of 518 yards from the blue tees. The round concludes after a suggested playing time of four hours and 10 minutes on the 18th hole, a par 4 that measures 388 yards from the blue tees.

The city of Phoenix has contracted with several hotel chains to offer stay-and-play packages for golfers at the Cave Creek Golf Course and other municipal tracks.

Unputtable

Actually I was close to quit after the first 9 holes. Fairways were descent but the greens are built for adventure golf. You never get the chance of a good put, no matter where the flag is. The 2nd nine have a nicer layout and are in much better shape, but still putting is no fun. And I'm saying this, after scoring a 74 on my first round there from the back tees. I will definitely not come back.

Basic, long, fun. Most holes are driver. Food at the turn is good and doesn’t break the bank. Very busy. Overall a good fun course to play. Grip it and rip it!

I thought the course was in good shape. There was some challenging holes for golfers at any level. Some very undulating greens make it a challenge even when getting on in regulation. Staff was very friendly. I thought the course was a good value for the price.

Decent Muni course

Looking for a decent place to swing your clubs. This course fits the bill and the price won't break the bank. We played this course as a warmup to a nicer resort course the following day and other than nicer golf carts, cave creek had better conditions. Pace of play really slowed after the turn, which seems to be the norm around here.

Nice Municipal Course

Overall, we had a great experience. This course unlike many in Phoenix mostly has fairways adjacent to each other so when my shot wasn't perfect it didn't go into the backyard of an adjacent home. The fairways were in good shape but the greens and pin placement was a little frustrating because they placed on slopes requiring "rainbow putts.

I will absolutely play this course again

Tough Greens

Course was in ok shape. Had to find grass to hit off of on occasion. Greens were tough! Slick and undulating! Hard combination. Tough walking course but there were plenty of walkers. I commend them. Rental clubs were a little pricey. Other than that, enjoyed the 4 hours of golf.

Sprinklers

Booked a tee time for 2:40 pace of play was great paid for 18 holes yet on the 13th hole at 5:50 they turned the sprinklers on all the holes so not only could we not finish the round but got soaked.
