Encanto Golf Course

My observations are from the perspective of a Visitor who has only played Encanto once. However, if you want a course with 'trainer-wheels' this is it. It's a very good for practicing your swing mechanics without penalizing you excessively for errant shots. In fact, if you are planning on staying and playing a few rounds in the Phoenix area at different courses, it's a perfect course to warm-up on. Fairly wide-open fairways, almost all flat lies , minimal amount of trees, and average bunker layout.. We played from the White Tee Boxes which is recommended for players that average 200-220 yrds. on their drives (like me). Tee time was about 10:05am and it took about 3-hours to finish. Of course, it was the end of August with temperatures in the 100+ range. So, keeping a wet towel around your neck is also a good idea (drink PLENTY of water too). With drought-like conditions, the turf is not exactly lush & verdant making the greens a bit difficult to read/putt-on. The upside is that you get a little extra 'roll out' in the fairways on your drives (who doesn't like that?!). I imagine if I play it again in the winter-time, I might have a very different view of the turf conditions. Otherwise, it was a memorable experience since I shot my lowest score ever...an 80 (albeit a Par-70 course). Naturally, I'm lamenting missing ONE of those several putts that could have put me in the 70's-Club. Oh well, another reason for a return visit.

I was able to play comfortably. The fairways and greens were nicely maintained for this green fee.

I'll preface this by saying that I'm not the best golfer, but I've played more than a few courses so far this summer. The round I played today finally compelled me to set up an account on golf now, and the reason why is simple: The Greens at Encanto. They are fast (in a good way) and puts roll true. Of the dozen courses I have played so far this summer, these greens were by far the best. The tee boxes were fine, and the fairways were more than adequate, especially for this time of year. Water from all the fountains was EXTREMELY cold, another must for a phoenix summer. I rode as a single in the late afternoon and finished 18 holes in exactly two hours. The course was basically empty...
Though the course is flat and relatively short, my advice is to play this course now because these greens really are the best around. Beginners can enjoy a pleasant round on an easy course and scratch players can really go after those wonderful putting surfaces!

Encanto is a decent municipal course for Phoenix. The fairways were green and the sand was soft. Overall its what you'd expect for a city course.

I've been a Phoenix resident for just about 4 years and this was the first time I had played this course,. It was exactly what I was hoping it would be. It's extremely flat with hard fairways and average paced greens, the typical ego booster course. I would recommend this place to anyone from a beginner to a scratch player. great track, great food and great people.

It's enjoyable in playing with friends & family at Encanto course

I played Encanto on a Friday morning at 1030. GN rate was $25. Summer is coming for Encanto and you can tell. The course is thin in some places but still a fun place to play. The greens were firm and not accepting of shots but once you adjust it's fine. Fairways were thin but still playable. The rough is nonexistent but still playable.
The course isn't overly challenging but can bite you. The five finishing holes are difficult and four of them are long if playing from the tips. Par on #15 is a great score.
Not many people were playing with a lot of singles out. Encanto is a fun place and I enjoy the old school, good old golf vibe it has.

Golf course in heart of Phoenix. No long trips to the outlying areas for good, quality golf. Great course for beginners and hacks like me. Little water some sand but mostly wide open fairways.

The course was in fairly good condition. The only blemish would be that the bunkers were a bit firm. For a Sunday afternoon, the pace of play was reasonable even with a group of high handicap players teeing it up from the tips.

The afternoon breeze added a little challenge and kept it interesting.

The greens were in great shape overall a flat and easy course to work on your game. Really close to the city and convenient to any part of the valley

Course in great shape and has great practice facilities. Would play again.

This is a flat track in very good shape, greens are fast, don't always look good but track well, fairways were
also in very good shape, not much rough, a great course to play as your first day after a long flight, great views of Phoenix, lots of native palms and various trees, fun place to play, we got stuck behind a slow moving poor etiquette 4 some on backside and still played in 3hrs 40 min, but should have been 3hrs.

Gonna play this course a lot this summer. The staff is friendly and very cool, nice relaxed atmosphere for an intermediate player wanting to get better. The burgers are awesome too.

A couple of things that could be better. They wanted you to fill divots, but no sand in the holders on the cart. Also, no beer cart ever came around.

Got off to a rocky start, had a 6:30 am tee time and the shop didn't open until after 6. But, the course was a lot of fun and the 3 guys I joined up with made it a great round. I'll be back when I'm in the area!

Have not played here in a few years, some of the trees that increased the difficulty have been removed.The course itself was in good condition, if your in the fairways very flat, greens are elevated so they have some slopes and contours to them and they roll well, Good value and pace of play was great 3 people 3 1/2 hours

On a busy Saturday morning and golfing in a foursome we got done in 4 and a half hours. The course was in good shape, the layout is forgiving as it was my first round of the year. The course is flat but all of the greens have slope to them so there aren't any straight putts. The only negative is that the traps aren't in good shape,too hard. Otherwise it is a course I would recommend.

Enjoyed the length and open fairways but still tough because of doglegs and trees.

Basic muni that is in good to great shape with excellent smooth and semi fast greens. Pace of play was great even without a Marshall present. Ball washers are the best I have seen at a golf course in the Phoenix metro area. Will definitely play again but one warning ; the last 5 holes are long and very tough (1 par 3 and 4 par 4's).
