Moon Valley Country Club's Championship course features excellent conditions and a spot in Arizona's long golf tradition on a par-72 18-hole course first designed by Dick Wilson and redesigned by Bob Cupp and Associates. This golf course challenges all levels, playing 5,285-7,216 yards.

Moon Valley Country Club's Championship course begins on a par-4 371-yarder, requiring a drive left to see the green: bunkers guard front and left. The fourth is a par-5 511-yarder. Shoot a birdie. Keep the tee shot away from the right fairway bunker. Close on the 411-yard, par-4 18th, which requires an accurate drive to miss bunkers right and trees and water left. You'll face the course's most intimidating shot: a two-tiered green, featuring a left side four feet higher than the right, 15 yards deep. It's guarded front back by bunkers. The hole location on the right is difficult.

Bunkers block a green sloping front to back, making it tough to stop the ball on the surface.

A great time!

Staff was quick to getting us out. Driving range was great, and we were at the tee in no time. Literally ran into one group the entire round and went through them. The course is challenging with a fantastic layout, but the greens were recently overseeded and hadn't reached anywhere near their potential yet. When the greens have healed, I'll definitely be going back.

Extraordinarily overpriced

That rack rate I was quoted in late spring was $119. The golf now price for mid morning play was $89.99. I figured this must be a pretty nice place, so when I saw a fire deal for $39 I figured I'd give it a shot. What a mistake. I arrived and made my way to the pro shop to check in and pay. I had to wait a couple minutes for someone to come into the shop. The price said it included range balls so I asked where I could acquire them and was told that they were already placed on the range. I loaded up an drove over to the range only to discover that there were no balls. I went back over to the pro shop where there again was no one to be found. I waited a couple minutes again and finally gave up and just drove up to the first tee. I noticed as I was driving around that the course did not seem to be in very good shape nor very manicured. I played 7 flat, boring holes and putted on 7 uncut and recently punched greens before I had enough. The one bunker I played out of had standing water in the middle and the sand had turned into a clay substance. This is probably one of the worst courses I have played in the Phoenix area. I will not be returning.

Great opportunity to play a high quality private course for a very reasonable rate.

Pro Shop Service was excellent, offered junior rate for my son without my having to ask. One of the best values I have seen on GolfNow. Pace was quick on an early Saturday afternoon.

MoonValley

Fairways and greens were in very good shape. Paid about $80, which was a great deal here in PHX this time of year. FYI, never saw a drink cart the whole round in the afternoon .

Not a very challenging course

The course was in very nice shape, but it wasn't very challenging. There wasn't much trouble to avoid. It was kind of boring. Greens were rolling great though.
