Oakcreek Country Club is situated amongst Sedona's red rock mountains, providing unique scenery throughout. Opened over 40 years ago, it is Sedona's first golf course. The course was a collaboration between Robert Trent Jones, Sr. and his son. It is a classic, player-friendly layout that offers plenty of room for error. There are also several opportunities to recover errant shots incorporated into the design. Despite its forgiving nature, the golf course definitely has its challenges. There are tree-lined fairways with bunkers strategically positioned in the landing areas and elevated greens bordered by large, swirling bunkers. Three lakes also come into play on five holes. Oakcreek Country Club requires accuracy as well as length in order to score well. Next to the clubhouse there are extensive practice facilities including a large driving range with target areas, a practice green, putting and chipping greens, and a short game area with a sand bunker.

We Loved Our Golf Day!

The course is in excellent condition. We are used to dried up and patchy California courses. So to play on such an beautiful course was a real treat.

Pace of play was pretty good about 4.75 hours for the full round.

Only suggestion: Have a more regular pass of a beverage cart. We were on the back 9 before we saw a cart.

Beautiful but Slow

The setting for this course is absolutely beautiful. Due to slow pace of play, we were forced to play the front 9 twice. Those holes are well designed and challenging with the greens exceptionally firm and fast. Unfortunately, I can’t comment on the back nine since we couldn’t play them.

Painfully slow

It took 2 hours and 50 minutes to make the turn. Thankfully, the back nine only took 2 hours and 10 minutes. I think that was possible because multiple groups only played nine holes.

Great Course, Bad Experience

I really liked this course. Beautiful views, especially on the back nine. Nice layout. Challenging greens. Great course conditions.

My only complaint was the lack of a Ranger to monitor pace of play. I got stuck behind a bachelor party. Most of the time they were playing as a 7 some and a foursome. They didn’t seem to care that everyone behind them was running out of light because of their slow play. Consequently I didn’t get to finish.

Bad luck. It won’t keep me from coming back though.

Very nice

Enjoyed our round and the gentleman I was paired with. Only bad part was pace of play. The foursome ahead of us was constantly delayed by the foursome in front of them, who would practice putt after they completed the hole. Argument started and offending group told the others if they didn’t like it they should play another course. This is no reflection on the course, it was beautiful and we really didn’t mind waiting. Fully recommended!!!

Beautiful but …

Picturesque and challenging course, but problematic on my one pet peeve. The tee boxes often seemed to undulate badly and some had rough type grass..So on a course where accuracy of the tee mattered, it was unfair to have to deal with that and it would seem easy to fix.

Pace of play

Very slow with no Marshall to help move play along. One foursome was 2 holes behind and didn’t allow our twosomes to play through. Had to skip the 10 hole to get around them.
