Union Hills Golf & Country Club
About
The golf course at the Union Hills Country Club is a championship course with a traditional layout. The course has been named one of the Top Ten Private Courses in Arizona. The design features four lakes and two winding creeks that create water hazards that come into play on a few holes. There are also several sand bunkers present. Some of the golf course's greens are elevated and the fairways are average sized in width. The signature hole is the par-4 14th hole, which requires a carry over water. Union Hills Country Club also has a putting green and full driving range for golfers to use.

Extra $$ for Cart for Single / Female
I've played this course a handful of times and at least 3 times in the last 5 weeks. Always as a single female. So... you'd think maybe they'd get to know me. I guess not. Everytime I have played my green fees include the cart. And event when I am put with a threesome up until yesterday I had my own cart. It slows down play to put a single female player with three gentlemen - THINK TEES.
Honestly, I don't understand why if i'm put with a threesome, I'm expected to share a cart or pay extra if I want my own but if I'm a single and no one is there to tee off with, I get my cart with no extra fee - so... explain please?
Yesterday I had to pay $15 extra to ride in my own cart. I mean THINK!! Why does a woman want to ride in a cart with a MAN she doesn't know. Seriously it's 2023 - get with the program! Besides I had no intention of staying with this group of golfers, nice as they were. On a busy day, I'm happy to join up and hang with the group; but yesterday the course was EMPTY. So I putted out quickly on 1, went to the empty hole 2, played through another group of nice beginners on 4 and then played the rest of the course solo which is my preference. Finished in under 3 hours. Course was in 'so-so' shape. Not sure when they plan on fixing up the place, the course layout is good and in decent shape for the green fees; don't think I'll play here again due to the extra they charged me for the cart.
Nice course
Tee boxes need to be leveled and reseeded, lots of bare spots in the fairway, great layout and fun to play at a great price.
Comprehensive layout
Had a great time. Everything was exactly as expected. I will definitely return. Thank you for having me!
“Country Club”??? NOT!!
They need to rename this course… this is NO Country Club. I saw the CC in the name so I decided to play this as a Hot Deal When I pulled into the parking lot and saw all the broken asphalt and lifted pickup trucks I was like… “Oh no, what did I just do?” Guy in the Pro Shop was super friendly but once I picked up my back firing gas cart and rolled up to the unmarked black tee box which looked like somebody’s front lawn I knew it was gonna be a long day. The fairways were in horrible shape basically same unhealthy grass just like the rough. I left the dink shot Hot Deal pairing to play solo. Group in front was cool and let me play through. Then got stuck behind a foursome of Weekend Wally’s who thought Saturday would be a good time to practice. They were playing 2 and 3 balls from the same spot because they stink. Go to the range and learn how to play or don’t come out. This is one of the worst SC courses out there. Again, NOT a Country Club… change your name!!
Not Bad
10 years ago this course was one of the best maintained facilities in the Valley. Curb appeal as you drive up is quite brutal. If I didn't know better, as I drove by I would appear the course is closed. That being said. the course was open and for $30 it wasn't bad. Course layout is awesome and offers a few challenging par threes and some lengthy par 4's. With a few exceptions, tee boxes were well maintained. Greens used to be really fast and true, but it seems they have raised the mower deck a scooch as they were much slower than in past visits. Pro shop staff were cordial and there is some good merchandise to be had.
Terrible conditions
I have enjoyed playing here in the past. The course layout is great and has a ton of potential. Now, the greens, tee boxes and fairways are all in deplorable condition. I am on a limited golf budget, but even at $45, cart included, it was not worth the money. I won't be playing at this course again until I see much better reviews here
It was closed
Set tee time night before I get there an get kicked out by greenskeepers saying there closed today drove down to palmbrooke an had a great round
Union Hills
This used to be my favorite course to play in the west valley. I don't know if it's the heat or lack of rain or both but the course is not in very good shape right now. I know it's under new ownership so maybe it will be in better condition soon.
Rough fairways
Course conditions need improvements. Some greens have burned out spots and fairways are uneven. I worry this location will be closed by next summer. Make sure you grab extra water because there is only one fountain on the course.
Good course for the money, some of the areas around the greens needed a little help but overall pretty good.
Great course
For the money you can't beat it, $20 a round on a great challenging golf course, greens a little fuzzy but in great shape after aeration, tee boxes a little rough but ok.
Bumpy greens but playable
Nice front office able to pair me up with a threescore earlier than my scheduled time fairways so so. Trees come into play sand in bunkers only found 1 flooded pace was good many as expected beginning golfers in the summer
- WE WERE ALL THERE ONCE-
For the price of $30 recommended for summer golf
course layout
This course is really close to my house, I love playing here because of the open fairways and the course layout. The greens were recently aerated, so the ball wasn’t rolling as good as usual. Which is understandable. Peace of play was good, i’ll always keep going back to this course, it’s a really good course for the money and it helps me get better.

Hi Ken - Since your last experience, new ownership has invested heavily to make Union Hills better. We have a brand new fleet of carts, removed the dead trees on the course, treated all fairways and tee boxes to reduce weeds and bare spots, renovated both the indoor and outdoor eating areas, refreshed the pro shop and the indoor/outdoor bathroom, and redid the parking lot to bring all cars/players closer to the pro shop. Oh...and we agree about the name, so we've changed it to Union Hills Golf Club. Hope you'll come see us again soon.
All the best,
Swing First Golf
