Pine Lakes Country Club
       About
Elegant and upscale at every turn, the 62-room antebellum clubhouse has been a must for photographers since its completion in 1927. When the azaleas bloom in the spring, it was in this setting that Henry Booth Luce's famed "Sport Illustrated" was founded in 1954.
From the white-gloved caddy master, to the on course chef, everything about Pine Lakes is bathed on old-fashioned class and charm. Although the clubhouse is completely private for the club members, at present, arrangements have been made for guest play through a very select group of member hotels. Should you be fortunate enough to stay at one of these facilities, we suggest you make it a point to visit this classic.

A classic
This is a different type of course for Myrtle Beach. The fairways seem to be a little wider and it’s more of a country club feel at this course. Greens rolled well. It’s definitely worth playing.
Just plain slow play
Started at 1:30. First 9 holes at a good pace. Back nine was terrible. Got behind a walking 4 some that I found out have a noon starting time every day except Friday.. We ended round at 6 pm. Holding up everyone.
Great Course
Overall, the course and staff were fantastic. Tee boxes and fairways were gorgeous but almost every green was in disrepair. Price for guest is a bit steep to be playing on greens like that. Would recommend and go back as this is likely a temporary condition.
Extremely Soggy
There's clearly a drainage issue on the fairways. Some of the fairways were absolutely saturated and it felt like I was standing on a sponge. However the roughs weren't which is what made me think it's a soil type issue on the fairways. I really did enjoy the course though. I would definitely play it again if I'm back in town.
Excitement Turned To Disappointment
I was extremely excited to play “The Grandaddy” while here on vacation. That quickly turned to disappointment from moment I checked in. The Golfpass description says it has a driving range which is inaccurate (not a huge deal but still), the greens were horrendous and the mowers were disrespectful by continuing to mow while you were hitting your shot, it was cart path only not because of rain but due to over watering which wasn’t mentioned, I called the club to make a reservation and one lady said they were giving discounted rates because greens being aerated recently yet the rate was same as it’s been last 2 weeks, and poor guidance on where to go when cart path suddenly ends. I read recent reviews on this course prior to playing and either the course is paying someone to write good reviews or the person selected wrong course because none of the reviews are anywhere close to conditions now. I knew going in the greens had been aerated over a week ago, but the green conditions were terrible not because aeration. I was extremely disappointed and the fact they charge what they do they should be ashamed. As I was making turn I went into clubhouse to use restroom, I heard one of the employees bragging about being on pace to do 103 like they knew they were getting over on people. Save your money and go elsewhere
Overall good
Had issue with payment on this one they charged me wrong tee time and they charged us both on tee times plus what I paid at course they did refund the others and very avg on friendliness of staff but course in good shape and fun to play and they did not get drinks out to us until end of 6 th hole on hot day so be prepared
This course is beautiful
I love the historic nature of this course, being the oldest course at Myrtle Beach. straight forward, yet challenging, course. Very nice facilities, with helpful staff!
Enjoyable experience. Staff was excellent. .
Will play again when we return to the area.
Bad Greens
Greens were horrible mostly dead grass. They should not charge full price for these conditions or at least inform you if greens are like that.
Best in MB area
Great course conditions from tee to green. Layout is inviting and challenging. Some risk / reward holes, this course is a classic !!!
Great Day
The layout is a short course. Par 70 with only 2 par 5’s. Staff was all friendly! Would recommend. A little pricy!
Immaculate
Course was in great shape. A couple holes had the edges around the bunkers burnt out but it didn’t affect play and that’s the only negative I can’t write about course wise. I did have the first tee time of the day at 8am and finished the front in 1:40 and since they use double tees, had to wait 20 mins until the last double tee off group went off the back. Not cool. Great value here. Would play again.

Stay in town and play this course
Pine Lakes was close to my resort and was in excellent shape. The greens were rolling beautifully and fairways and tee boxes were in perfect shape. I truly enjoyed this course and will play here again.
