Great golf with friends at Shoreline Golf Links
Making lifelong memories with my golf buddies, this time at Shoreline. We tee’d up right before twilight rate so it was wide open. Finished in 4 hours, 10 minutes. There weren’t too many bald spots, the bunkers did seem fluffy but 1 inch under was packed mud, and all the greens were small and turtlebacked. Seems like the wind blows a consistent 2 clubs from the north in the afternoon. But it was worth the $37 we paid for. I missed a 20 foot eagle putt by one cup on the 9th hole which got my heart pumpin for a second. Didn’t leave it short tho. I shot a 93 for a first timer. I’ll be playing here again for sure. Fun times. My golf buddies can get ridiculously funny sometimes.
fun course
Shoreline golf links is a fun course with many interesting holes. Not too long but challenging. Greens have a lot of slope but are in good condition
Shoreline
Fairways barren in some spots, greens were a bit soft and bumpy. No group ahead of us until we caught up with a single and foursome on the back. Not sure why they allowed a single?
Peter in Golf shop classic guy ..friendly -knowledgeable
A 7000 yard, Robert T Jones track in smack dab middle of Silicon Valley
Where else can you play a 7000ish yard, Robert T Jones track for $23in the bay? That’s what I thought.. sure there are squirrels and they make holes and there are geese that sometimes are a bit annoying. Yes the fairways in places are less than ideal ( mostly in areas where a good tee shot would not end up) but if your a true die hard golfer you respect the challenge of this course and frankly it has made me such a better golfer and person having shoreline as my home course. The greens are absolutely amazing for a muni rolling at a real good clip .. lots of undulating greens and bunkers that for the
Most part are a joy to hit out of. Shoreline is on the rise and grounds crew are making steady progress giving this fantastic design some new shine .. come out and play if you can look past imperfections and want a true test of posting a number
Enjoyable But Not Perfect Links Golf
Would I recommend Shoreline to other golfers. I would give that question an emphatic yes. I have read many of the criticisms of Shoreline and many of the negative reviewers have a point, especially if you are looking at the negative. I prefer to take that information and look at it concentrating on the positives of the course. What people don't understand is that Shoreline is a links course and it is a Municipal Course. It is located in an area close to the ocean and salt air. People don't realize what this does to golf turf. The salt in the air makes it difficult to grow consistent grass on the fairways and greens. Yes, the fairways were hard and the lies were tight, but that is to be expected given the location of the course. Besides, tight lies and hard fairways are to be expected in links style golf. You only need to take a look at the courses they play in the British Open ROTA. The areas around the greens were mostly consistent and I was very happy with the greens. They putted well and were very consistent and quick.
The course was challenging and fair with the greens being receptive. A couple of the greens were hard, but again that is to be expected with a links course. The round was just under 43/4 hours, but given that Shoreline is a busy course and we played it on a Saturday afternoon you have to take that into consideration. Honestly, It wasn't that bad. Would I recommend the course to others. I would give that question an enthusiastic yes, but keep in mind the style of the golf course and its location in a major metropolitan area. I enjoyed the course and hope to be back soon.
Ridiculous six hours round due to a tournament. Actually left the course at the end of hole 10 at 3 hours 15min. Not informed of that prior to the start. Not happy at all
Marshall
I like shoreline but I had terrible experience. Took us 5.5 hours to play, teed off at 12:50pm. Marshall told us there were some drinks ahead of us on hole 9 but he never did anything about it so it was horrible. Good luck. Hope Marshall does his job next time. Anybody can just drive around but it’s your job to make sure pace is normal.
Fairways in bad shape
Greens were in good shape, tee boxes were ok. The fairways were in bad shape. This course has a nice layout and potential to be a great course just needs much better up keep and maintenance. Very slow play and never saw one marshal.
Awful. I need to stop playing here.
Awful. I will stop playing here. First of all, they do jot enforce pace of play. This past weekend, I was subject to a 6 hour round. On one hole, there were 5 - FIVE - groups waiting to tee off. The Marshall drove around once and didn’t even talk to anyone. What’s the point of having one when he doesn’t even do his job? Also - the drink cart only went around once. Seems like a necessary service when you’re waiting around forever on each hole. The course of course is in horrendous shape. There are gopher holes everywhere! Watch out as you could easily lose your golf ball or or worse - roll an ankle. There’s geese droppings EVERYWHERE. It smells like a zoo. The tee boxes are in terrible shape and uneven and the greens are not repaired. I’ve only played this course because it’s near my home but I will no longer patronize it because of this. “COVID” is no longer an excuse. Get some new management.
Not impressed as a first timer
Fairways are dry and geese droppings are all over the course. I needed to tip tie to get to the ball. Some Sand traps are hard, clubs can’t dig under the ball. Need to break down the sand on bunkers. There are a few T-boxes so far away from the last hole played.
