Pajaro Valley Golf Club
About
Originally designed by Floyd McFarkland, Pajaro Valley Golf Club has large Monterey Pines lining its generous rolling fairways. Elevated tees provide scenic views of the Pajaro Valley below. Opened in 1922 and redesigned in 1962 by Robert Muir Graves, the course features small bentgrass greens and four ponds with water in play on three holes. The fourth is one of the course's most challenging holes, a 420-yard par 4 with triple-tiered green. The course also was once the home of former U.S. Open champion Olin Dutra, who spent the last part of his career teaching here.

Greens are firm. Looked a bit dry but you get a lot of roll.
I got a great price but had no idea here was two tournaments going on so it made for a really long round. Still like the course just would have been nice to have been notified of that.
nice older well established course
very beautiful setting with views toward moss landing slew
See below
Course has great potential. it's challenging, with better than average greens and a decent layout. it could be greatly improved with three major adjustments:1) the Fairways need to be better managed in terms of grass and watering.2) the greens are mostly very good but are inconsistent with some rolling very differently than others in terms of smoothness and speed and some being in noticeably better shape than others.3) the tee boxes are in generally poor shape and could be improved through leveling and repairing Grass damage.
proshop staff..best ever
I use golfnow.com exclusively..retired senior..when checking into the proshop..staff is always so nice and accomodating..Course is always so fun to play..over all great experience..wish you had more discounted tee times
Open fairways
Great course to golf at. Weekend afternoons can a bit backed up. They don't have marshalls so you have to wait it out. Well kept greens, and fairways. If you are solo and riding you will usually have to share a cart.
Course has great greens
The course has nice layout and although it is not particularly long and does not have a very high slope rating it can be deceptive as it has some very challenging holes due to the greens. The greens really make the course. They are generally on the faster side (i'm guessing ~10) and some have a lot of slope. If they get quick it is best to keep your approach shot below the hole.
Bring Food
Most days there snack shack is not open and trying to get food in the clubhouse takes to long if you are going from 9 to 10. No way to pre order so if you don't bring lunch or a snack you might get pretty hunger before you finish
Very good greens
The course plays more difficult than the rating because of the fast sloped greens. Must keep the ball below the flag! Lots of hills, can be windy, but a fun course.
It isn't a bad course BUT
The problem here is it took 5hrs and 15 min to play do to slow play and no Marshall to watch over the players. I am in no ways a fast player but this made for a bad day. I sent in an email to the owner and manager with no reply to the email. Needless to say I like the course but I won't play there again and the 3 friends I took for their first time playing this course said they will not play it again.
Long fairways and fast greens.
I play here often. It is a good place to have a straight drive with the long fairways. Pajaro is a big, bounding course overlooking the Elkhorn slough and estuary, with lots of tall trees lining the course. The back 9 holes are particularly beautiful and remote feeling. There is a regular crowd that plays here but they are friendly and fast playing. At my 23 handicap, I am mostly hitting a driver, a 3 wood and a pitching wedge onto the green. The greens here are some of the fastest I play on but none of the holes feels like an unfair design penalizing the higher handicapper. You just really need to think about whether you can really get that wood stopped on that green, or not- will you will heed the quiet voice of prudence? Beautiful course and setting, cool ocean air, grass range, good lunch stop and great staff.
Fast Greens
Tee to green really friendly, get to the greens and you had better be on your your best form. These greens can really be fast

Fun course all around. Has plenty of wide fairways which are forgiving.

Average course, excellent greens.
I've played at Pajaro Valley Golf course in Watsonville, CA. I really enjoy the well maintain greens but some fairways might need a bit of attention. Overall, I think is a great price for what to get and I would definitely play there again.
