About
The Club at Crazy Horse Ranch (previously known as Salinas Golf & Country Club) in Monterey boasts a reputation as "the friendliest club in the area." Opened in 1925, it's also known as one of the area's oldest clubs though they are loathe to label themselves as "traditional". The golf course sprawls across rolling countryside dotted with mature trees and the occasional water hazard. Originally opened as a nine-hole layout, the golf course may appear somewhat short at just over 6,200 yards from the back tees but don't underestimate its level of difficulty. It's a tight layout that demands accuracy, especially when navigating the small greens. There is plenty of variety at The Club at Crazy Horse Ranch, you may even find yourself using all the clubs in your bag. The golf course finishes with a stunning view of Salinas Valley from an elevated tee. The fairway slopes downhill to a well protected green guarded on the left with trees and on the right with bunkers.

Reliable greatness
Every time I play here I can’t wait to come back. I drive forty miles and it’s worth it. Beautiful course. Great layout. Superb condition. Rarely have to wait for groups ahead.

Great track!
Friendly staff great food and a course that is well taken care of! Greens are in great shape and very challenging due to size. Fairways are in good condition the slight down side are some of the bunkers lacking sand. Will def play here again to challenge myself to hitting more greens in reg! Found an awful lot of fringes just off the green.
Pace of play was bad
The other couple I played was slow and don’t know the etiquette. That was worst round.

Some of the best greens, if not THE best, that I've ever putted on. Very scenic course too. Enjoyable and recommended.
Must play course
We were looking for a new course to play.. to celebrate my buddy’s 53 bday .so I got on my golf now app and searched for a good HOT deal. And we found one for $70. .it’s tucked away amongst the strawberry fields . we loved the layout , with its many elevation changes .although we were worried about the playing conditions After raining for so many days in a row .the course held up very well . It was very well maintained . Our 4 some had handicaps between 8-20 . This course was challenging for the 8 but not overwhelming for the 20.. the greens were a little fast, but very playable .when the round was finished . We all were looking forward to playing it again . This course has now become one of my favorites .if it were in Monterey they could easily get $250 per round . Thank you crazy horse !
Good shape, perfect greens
Course was in good condition, greens were in fantastic shape, pretty fast. Pace of play was great for a Friday 12:30 tee time, foursome in less than 4 hours

The course is fun to play. The staff in the clubhouse and restaurant are always very friendly. Can’t beat the price for such a great course.
Good test
Finally got a chance to play this course. Perfect yardage for me. Course layout requires accuracy off the tee and into the greens. Greens were in great shape with consistent speeds. Will definitely be back!!
Riding through the Club at Crazy Horse Ranch
It’s a good course that gets a lot of play. I thought one hole had an unfair layout extremely sloped left-right and the greens were very fast, with extreme edges were the ball would fall off if you’re above the hole. Can’t imagine how fast this course gets in mid-summer. I understand the course defensive setup. I enjoyed the round with my newly acquainted playing partners. You definitely need course knowledge to navigate this track. Luckily, one of them has played the course a few times. Thanks for the enjoyable day!!
