Originally designed by Floyd McFarkland, Pajaro Valley Golf Club has large Monterey Pines lining its generous rolling fairways. Elevated tees provide scenic views of the Pajaro Valley below. Opened in 1922 and redesigned in 1962 by Robert Muir Graves, the course features small bentgrass greens and four ponds with water in play on three holes. The fourth is one of the course's most challenging holes, a 420-yard par 4 with triple-tiered green. The course also was once the home of former U.S. Open champion Olin Dutra, who spent the last part of his career teaching here.

PV course renovation

Pajaro Valley golf course is an underrated beautiful Track but in Mediocre condition. It's my recommendation that PV transitions to a desert style naturalist/minimalist golf course with a Single line targeted irrigation system that can substantially shrink the manicure and irrigation footprint of the golf course. By transitioning to a naturalist/minimalist style golf course, PV will save the City water while simultaneously allowing the maintenance staff to MANICURE a smaller portion of the golf course and bring PV closer to resort quality to compete with Spring Hills, Seascape and Delaveaga on the Central coast

Walked

Exceeded expectations.

Definitely better than the reviews would have you believe; I was hesitant based on what I read but really enjoyed my round. There were some small flowers in the fairways, but it did not limit ability to find balls at all. There were a couple of greens where there were some issues (cost me a birdie on 18!) but only in several places. The bunker sand was perfect. The layout was interesting and entertaining, and the views of the slough were beautiful. Really nice pro shop with welcoming employees. Restaurant for lunch and beers was a great way to end the round. Worth the drive from the Peninsula.

Disappointed

I hear a lot of people calling this place a dump. You can play Del Monte for half the price.

Get investor and redo the golf cart paths

Hi

Your course course could use a facelift on the cart paths get to them professionally converted to concrete.

I’d be more than happy to invest to make this happen.

.

Please mow the fairways and keep clovers downs

Green are great!

Fun course

I remember this course from when I was a kid. Very fun with a good amount of challenge as well. I was worried about all the white flowers on the fairway but it seems to have mellowed out (and was out of their power to control as they were low lying mini flowers about as long as the fairway grass). Everything seemed to be mowed well and the greens played great.

Pajaro Valley Golf Course has the worst reviews of any 18 hole course within 75 miles (75 miles is the maximum allowable distance on the GolfNow app slider). Poor course conditions, avoid this place.

poor maintenance

I couldn't see so many players & fon the reason from the first hole. The green which they had advertised as best/fast one in the bay area became very bumpy & slow with many dead spots. Tee box & fairway were all long enough I can be confused with the first cut, having so much weedes & white grass flowers. I needed to use colored ball from the 3rd, after losing white ball in the 2nd hole's fairway hit.

Good layout with poor maintenance.

Disappointed

I booked PV this past weekend and to my surprise was extremely disappointed with the conditions of the course. It's one on of my favorites to play in the area because it's close to home, is usually in good condition and suits my eye. I usually play pretty decent there. I lost 6 or 7 balls and maybe missed 2 fairways all day. The rough was super thick which isn't too much of a complaint but the fairways were as if they hadn't been mowed in weeks and were covered in dandelions. The greens had drsg spots all over them. It was a real shame and feel like it shouldn't cost $95 to play in it's current state. Staff was friendly as always.

Incompetent management has led to the steady decline of this “business”. If you want to play a real golf course, there are plenty of meticulously kept courses in Monterey.

New owners are improving this operation

Contrary to anonymous poster(s) who repeatedly hit one star. The course is in better shape than it's been in a long time, the proshop is well stocked, and the customer service is excellent. I think some of the "old element" would like things to remain the same, but the new owners are doing a terrific job improving this golf course and the overall experience.

This place is a complete joke. Management completely out of touch with reality, no idea how to run a business.

Needs to dry out a bunch

The course is playable, but some holes a very sloppy. I’m sure the crew is doing what they can. Some of the carts are pretty iffy. The staff is really nice.

Flooded

Got too much rain, still has a lot of sitanding water.

Lots of white weeds out there. Needed orange balls!

Fast play, because no one was out there!

They charge too much for that course!

Regular price $70!

Not worth playing here

The course was not in good conditions. You couldn't tell the rough from the fairway. Flower/weeds every where. Extremely difficult to find your ball even in the fairway. It was also like playing off a sponge. My hike shoes were soaked and the clubs kept getting sucked to the ground.

Exceptional value and local treasure

Pajaro Valley Golf Club is a favorite course of mine and my golfing buddies. Some of my reasons, in no particular order are: both challenging and easier holes; great, wide fairways; never feels overcrowded and perfect rate of play; beautiful landscape plus ocean views; welcoming staff; THE best practice facilities with grass tee boxes AND drivers permitted AND two putting and chipping greens; good food and friendly bar overlooking the first tee; easy to get to with plenty of parking; and a world-class PGA pro too. There are other good, public, local courses that have many of these attributes but none of them have all of these except Pajaro.
