Maderas Golf Club

This course was in beautiful condition. The proshop and starter were so informative and helpful! Would play this course again.

Course was totally worth $100. It’s tough to find tee times around that price there though. Would play it more if more were available in that range.

Almost everything was top notch! Course conditions, pace of play, the staff, speed of greens were all great. It's a small thing, but they are the only course we have played that charges an additional service fee on top of what I paid online. This hidden fee was not revealed when I booked and paid online

This golf course is a difficult course to play. The layout is interesting but with a lot of hazards and native areas left and right. Most of the par 4 are longgggggg. We were playing at the white tee, it is 6400 yds and the next tee is 5200 yds. Nothing in between. This golf course also charge an extra $5 bag fee per person. I don’t really know what the fee is for. In 30 year playing golf, this Is the first time I got charged for bring a golf bag. Lol.

The greens were lush but much slower than usual for Maderas. The back nine greens were closer to normal. The deal I found via Teeoff.com (same parent company as GolfNow.com) was the lowest price I’ve ever paid for this course: $70! All around it was a great twilight round during the long days of the year. I hope to return soon.

Teeing grounds, fairways and greens are the best I’ve played anywhere in San Diego county this year.

This is a tough course, do yourself a favor if this is your first visit and play up one tee so you can get to know the course before you try playing back.

This is easily one of the best courses in San Diego. The conditions are great especially now that the previous dormant bermuda grass has started to grow. Greens were incredibly fast and fairways still rolled pretty well. The staff is always been top notch. I've had slow rounds here in the past, however this day we only had one group ahead of us that we could see and our 4-some finished in 4 hours. We played with a couple from Orange County and it was their first time playing Maderas. It just reminded us how much of an advantage it is to have played this course many times previously. There are little tricks that you can pick up where to hit it and where to leave it. In terms of value, it is hard for me to justify paying that much on a regular basis for a local course.

The only gripe is they have moved from their $5/pp mandatory COVID cleaning fee to a $5/pp guest services fee. The cashier gave an incoherent explanation of what it covers. Obviously when you spending $160 - $250 per person the $5 isn't a huge issue, but it still doesn't sit right from an optics perspective for me. I rather the fee just be rolled into the greens fee.

The course is in excellent shape
