About
Editor's Note: Course closed for business in 01/2020.
This course, designed by Jeff Brauer and opened in 1991, offers one of the more enjoyable experiences for the average golfer. The par 72 layout is only 6,500 yards and is void of trees, making it more of a links-style course. Mounding is prominent around the multi-tiered greens, making it difficult for ups and downs after approach miscues.
Two holes stand out, both on the back nine. The par 5 No. 12 is reachable in two at only 488 yards, but water guards the landing area off the tee and the green has three levels. No. 17 is a fun par 3 playing 195 yards over a lake.
Remember that the trick to Bluebonnet is the greens. Pay attention to the pin placements and try to find the right level of the green.
Getting there : From I-290 going west get off at the Decker Ln. exit, and drive about 1.5 miles to the course.

Great Value
Bluebonnet is one of the best deals around. The fairways and greens were in very good shape, especially for the middle of winter. The staff is always very friendly, and I enjoy the changes in elevation on many holes. It's not a terribly difficult course, but there are some good challenges. I definitely recommend this course.
Good greens and normally good pace
I like this course. Always one of the less expensive courses and for the price kept in very good shape. The greens are tricky but always in good shape. Not the most challenging course but has some good holes and the windy conditions can increase the difficulty.
farm course with country club greens
bluebonnet is a nice place to play a round of golf. they are committed to a good pace of play, so even when it gets a little crowded things tend to move along.
no review of this course would be complete without including the well known fact that it has some of the best greens in town (including top dollar courses). i always think this fact is overstated until i go out and play again. this round the whole course was a wet sloppy mess, and the greens were still pretty dry and rolled true.
overall this is a fun course that anyone can play. better players won't find too much challenge, but there are some good holes out there (especially on the back 9).
Bluebonnet Hill Golf Course
It's always a good experience. Greens are in very good shape.
Well maintained course.
It is a good course and we had an enjoyable round of golf. My two sons and I played on my birthday. Must be 50 characters.
Bluebonnet
One of my go to courses for the weekend. Not a lot of people most of the time and the course is in good shape most of the time. Very good greens this time out. I would like to see one or two restrooms on the course and not the only one at the turn. Played here several times and will again.
Going downhill
This course used to be half decent for the price, but lately they have been going downhill! Very slow play, with NO course marshals to help out! When we called the clubhouse they said they couldn't send anybody out to speed up slow groups. This is at a course that bills itself as "the home of the 4 hour round"! Give me a break! The only thing good on the course are the greens, the fairways have very little grass and are not kept in good shape. The staff does not seem to be invested in the club, they don't care.
great greens
The course was in good shape for late November. This course will give you a chance to score low with its wide fairways.
Good play, good course
Greens and fairways were in very good shape. Due to rain the traps were wet but raked. Very few golfers out and played as a 3some in 3 1/2 hrs.
Great
The course was in great conditon. Freindly staff unlike the C.O.A munis. Only complaint would be the cart paths. They were atrocious, but I know that adding thee inches to each side of the paths would cost a fortune, so I don't see this changing anytime soon, or ever. This is the only thing that keeps me from coming back because at the end of the round, my lower back feels like I got hit several times with a Louisville slugger baseball bat. I would recomment the course because it is a great place to play, but I would also caution people aobut the cart paths. Did't buy anything at the snack bar so that's the reason for the average score.
The course is in good shape
I enjoyed playing this course. The greens were in good shape and the fairways too. Some of the cart paths are bumpy.
Fun fun fun course
Course was in great condition for fall. Greens were soft and a touch slow, but very good. Fairways were firm but still held plenty of turf. Best part... 3.5 hour round for our foursome. We're pretty average and had to search for a few balls, but not only was this round fun and varied, but really quick. Ready to go again!
Great Way to Spend Time With Friends
Nice wide-open fairways with very playable greens.
Looking forward to playing there again.
Only issue is that yardgage markers need to be more visible.
A course truly a great value.
Consistent, Great Value
I've grown to really like Bluebonnet because it is a course where you know what you're going to get. Very nice greens, good fairways, and a <4 hour round, even on a Sunday morning.
Only portion of the course I saw an issue with were the bunkers, as I thought they could use more sand. But that's a minor complaint.
Not a very tough course (very open, little trouble), but for the value and a nice day out, I'll always recommend this place.
Course in great shape
Course was in great shape and really played well for the conditions (wind & dry) in Austin this time of year.
Best game
Love this course, greens were awesome and fast. Shot my best legit no molly 86 here the last time sweet.
Great price. Great course
Staff was fantastic from pro shop to the kitchen. Pace was good and great overall experience
Good value
Course always in good shape. Very open and challenging for all handicaps.
Maintenance
Greens being over seeded this day with greens completely covered with sand and back 9 closed
Good fun, nothing extraordindary but very enjoyable
I enjoy playing here. The conditions have always been more playable than a lot of the municipal courses around the area. The greens rolled true and I had very few poor lies. A few narrow fairways force you to keep drives straight. Hole 17 is a lot of fun to end on, just get it over the water.
