About
Editor's Note: Course closed for business in 01/2020.
This course, designed by Jeff Brauer and opened in 1991, offers one of the more enjoyable experiences for the average golfer. The par 72 layout is only 6,500 yards and is void of trees, making it more of a links-style course. Mounding is prominent around the multi-tiered greens, making it difficult for ups and downs after approach miscues.
Two holes stand out, both on the back nine. The par 5 No. 12 is reachable in two at only 488 yards, but water guards the landing area off the tee and the green has three levels. No. 17 is a fun par 3 playing 195 yards over a lake.
Remember that the trick to Bluebonnet is the greens. Pay attention to the pin placements and try to find the right level of the green.
Getting there : From I-290 going west get off at the Decker Ln. exit, and drive about 1.5 miles to the course.

Great
Great course for the money, would go back again, especially since we only got to finish nine becuase of the hail storm that pelted us !
Speedy Round
I have played this track at least a dozen times during the past year and a half and haven't spent more than 3:40 on a round yet. Yes, that includes weekends.
Look for the bobcat that occasionally makes an appearance alongside #10 tee.
Pretty good this time out.
Course was in ok shape. You don't play here for lush fairways. Green looked nice, but can get mowed really thin, where approach shots might not always hold. Still, friendly staff and pace of play are always awesome here. Got around in under 3hr with a stop at the turn.
Good experience
Very windy day at Bluebonnet, but on a hill, that is expected. Greens are better than most muni's and the course is in good shape overall. Great staff and friendly players.
great links course
one of my favorite links courses
greens are always in top shape
great value for the money
great layout
beautiful rolling hills and layout was challenging. greens excellent and roll fast and true even for winter conditions. although fairways dormant, was still able to hit shots to green with some spin, enough to make ball stop when hit properly. i will be back. i made trip from san antonio just to play something different and was not disappointed.
Great Value
This course is truly a hidden gem for the casual playing golfer. If you play in the morning and want to play in less than 4 hours then Bluebonnet is the place to go.
great course
like the course
only played 15 holes, had a 2;08 tee time
ran thru the first 10 holes in 2 hours, then got bogged down terrible one group was playing extremely slow and was backed up from 11 -14
We skipped & went to 15 & finished before dark , there was still daylight but did not go back
Greens well above average
The greens were great, rolled very true. Fairways were a little to firm, but it's the winter. Range was nice. Gets windy out there in that's course. Very good value
A great alternative to the Austin munis
Bluebonnet isn't a muni but it's priced like one and delivers a very different experience. It's also a rare privately owned, Austin-area course void of any real estate. The layout is really unique especially for the price, and conditions (particularly of the greens) generally exceed that of other courses in its class in the area. I'd play it a lot more if Highway 290 wasn't such a mess with construction right now.
good value
first course we played in Texas so hard to compare
Great condition, Greens were perfect
Enjoyed my round. Had a 9:28 tee time on Friday. Never pushed, never waited. Finished in 3 hrs 45 min. Course is set up for fast play. Walk off the green and your on the next tee box. Fairways were nice with ample roll, Greens were very consistant. Staff was very friendly
thanks golf now for this awesome deal.
Great deal at a great course. Choose is always in good shape, enjoy playing here whenever I can.
Good value for the money
Scheduled this tee time after rain stopped, so it was a last minute thing. Course was in good condition, and pace of play was truly good.
Great Greens
Great greens, great pricing, great value. Sand traps are always less than ideal in condition & maintenance. A couple hours of tractor work could fix the several areas of standing water that's been a problem for quite some time now.
Wide open with nice fairways
I had forgotten how much I enjoyed playing Bluebonnet. It's wide open with enough doglegs and water hazards to keep the experienced challenged and the beginners happy.
The price is fine, but I know with GolfNow there are hot deals elsewhere in the Austin area where you'll get a much higher quality course for less money.
Wide fairways and great greens
First time I have played Bluebonnet Hills. Treated right from the moment we walked in. If Golf Now tee time, they strictly adhere to the time you purchased. Do NOT go early thinking you will automatically be sent off early.
Great course. Lots of downhill and uphill and wind. Wide fairways and fast play.
good price for the course.
cart paths could be larger but price was right and the course was in good condition.
Good Value, fun course
Hadnt played this track in over 2 years, let me say we had great weather and I feel the course was in decent condition. The greens were in pretty good shape medium speed, the fairways were spotty on some holes but that's to be expected at this price point, not a long course but makes you think about club selection on some holes, I will say the Tee boxes were in bad shape - very long grass and very uneven, I believe they are working on them. Small snack shop - a free beverage with the round, great for tuning the game and having a fun afternoon. (Must be time of year after the rain - Mosquito's were on the prowl - wear bug spray)
Good course
Great value, but kind of far from town, very good course for the value.
