About
Editor's Note: Course closed for business in 01/2020.
This course, designed by Jeff Brauer and opened in 1991, offers one of the more enjoyable experiences for the average golfer. The par 72 layout is only 6,500 yards and is void of trees, making it more of a links-style course. Mounding is prominent around the multi-tiered greens, making it difficult for ups and downs after approach miscues.
Two holes stand out, both on the back nine. The par 5 No. 12 is reachable in two at only 488 yards, but water guards the landing area off the tee and the green has three levels. No. 17 is a fun par 3 playing 195 yards over a lake.
Remember that the trick to Bluebonnet is the greens. Pay attention to the pin placements and try to find the right level of the green.
Getting there : From I-290 going west get off at the Decker Ln. exit, and drive about 1.5 miles to the course.

The greens role very true!
I had a nice time until the rain came. I will play again soon. The course is interesting and fun to play.
A surprisingly good course
This course is a bit "off the radar" (not on Skydroid for download) but is in good shape, challenging enough and a quick trip. Plus at ~$45 via GolfNow it is quite the bargain. Overall, a very positive day and I'll be back.
A very good bargain
Course, specially greens, in excellent shape. Too bad the pro shop and rest rooms are so old and shabby.
Not bad
We were one of the first groups out in the morning and played in under 3 1/2 hours. the majority of the holes were straight with little hazards. I would highly recommend this to someone who hasn't been out in a while and not looking to lose many balls.
Excellent value for the money
Good value for money course in good shape green excellent.
Prepare to play fast
Good crowd, with a quick pace of play. If you like a more leisurely round, this ain't the place.
Great shape
Some of the smoothest greens anywhere in Austin this season. I have played and/or caddied at a dozen courses around town this year, and these greens might be the best combo of speed and true role. Probably the best condition I have seen Bluebonnet in the three years I have played there. Will def be back in the coming weeks.
Poor pace, everything else great
I teed off as a single at 4:30 and by 5:30 had yet to tee off on hole #4. I played hole #2 four times to kill some time/wait for a marshal to get things moving but never heppened. I didn't have my phone on me so I just called it a day and went home.
Playing as a single I was prepared for a good amount of down time but 20 minutes per hole just takes the fun out. Understand that at twilight most courses don't have a marshal but would have been nice if the course had some way to monitor the pace.
The course was in great condition and the price was fair, and the staff was very friendly so I will try them again sometime.
They have the greens in great condition.
This has always been a good affordable course. Greens are rolling great. A Saturday afternoon tee time took 4:05. The tollway opened today so getting there is that much faster. All is good st Bluebonnet.
nice course
Considering the weather in Austin is above 90 for most of the year, this course is very well maintained compared to others in the area. If you hit your ball into the deep rough be prepared to sacrifice it to the golf gods because it is a lost cause to try to find it. High scrub on the borders. I walked this course and it is definitely doable if is how you like to golf.
Great time
Excellent first time experience. Wiil be back and well worth the drive from College Station
Highly recommended.
Great conditions, great value. Have played it several times in 2014 and will again.
Solid shape for 2014
Course is in solid shape right now. It's better than I've seen in years, actually. Only complaint is the awful inconsistency in bunkers. Some are standard fluffy and full of sand, others have about a 1/4 inch of sand on top of hard pan. The latter caused me to go from "up and down birdie attempt" to bogey when my wedge couldn't bounce under the ball in the sand and the hard ground a 1/4 under ten sand forced me to skull my ball across the green on 12.
Nice course
Nice looking course and the greens were in great condition. Play was a little slow, but it was a Sunday and busy, so I understand. Very little shade, which can be rough for a summer in Texas. But enjoyed the course and range.
Excellent Greens!
Very happy with this course. We got a deal for having a super early tee time, but it was definitely worth it. Greens were probably the best I've seen in Austin.
Course in great shape
I play four to five days a week. This course by far is the best course for the price
Thank you gentlemen I enjoyed my round.
Course is great value and a good challenge
Greens in great shape and pace of play is very good.
Good Views Great Greens
I played this course on a recent trip to Austin and was very satisfied with my experience. It isn't up to par with the resort level courses in the Austin area but for a quarter of the price it's a great bargain.
The greens were in great shape and the course offers a variety of challenges. I strongly recommend this course.
Great course
Excellent course for the dollar amount, wide open holes and great greens! I heard they even do student discounts!!! Play here twice a month.
Windy Hilltop
The greens rolled nice for a muni.... not a 5-star course but it was still fun... helps the ego to score even on a windy day... I found the staff exceptionally friendly and would probably go back just because they made it fun...
