Morongo Golf Club at Tukwet Canyon - Legends Course
About
Morongo Golf Club at Tukwet Canyon offers two 18-hole championship courses, the Legends and the Champions. Nestled in the foothills of the San Gorgoncio and San Jacinto Mountains, both courses have a scenic landscape that offers stunning views. The Legends Course is the newer of the two but it provides just as challenging a game as the Champions, which is a PGA Tour favorite. The Legends twists and turns through the winding elevations, demanding accuracy throughout. Like its sister golf course, there are numerous steep-lipped bunkers treacherously placed along the greensides. The rough is also tall, thick, and unforgiving. The tricky par-3 fourth hole is played from the highest point on the property. From the tee, the canyon seems more intimidating but the wildly sloped green is where the challenge begins.

Nice course, disappointing staff/amenities
I have played this course several times. The course itself is in great shape. My issue is with pace of play and they don’t have a Marshall to keep things running smoothly. Twosome after twosome going out with people who are in dire need of a golf and golf etiquette lesson. There is no snacks shop or 19th hole. No cash is accepted. How far will they take this Covid-19 BS. Many courses in the area are over it. I love the course but won’t waste my time or money until they get a few of these things handled.
Best condition
Green is in very good condition. The pace is perfect today.
This is a Fun Course
The legends is a very nice golf course. It has its share of challenging holes, but it also has holes where you can score. The pace of play was excellent and the staff was very accommodating. Play it if you get the chance.
Overall
Fairways, greens, and roughs all in very good condition; green side bunkers are always sketchy @ Tukwet.
course layout is challenging.green and fairway are good condition.for bunker, there is solid dirt and stones, it may hurts golf club.
Tip Top Condition
The Legends is in great shape. They have done a good job over seeding this fall. The greens are running faster than normal and tough to judge speeds. Haven’t seen this track in such pristine condition in years. The fairways and rough are lush and not too soft. As usual the green side bunkers really need work to sift golf ball size stones out. It’s a really beautiful and challenging golf course.
This course has so much potential!
Found Legends to be a scenic but very tough layout.
The greens were in very good shape and very fast!
The condition of the rest of golf course was not great as you really couldn’t play out of the bunkers as they were rocks and dried mud and very little sand. The tee boxes were shabby as well and the fairways were a little patchy in places. So much potential!
Downhill
It use to be a course in great condition. Now its a muni. You guys need to bring it back to its former glory. If I didnt know better I would guess conditions have deteriorated in anticipation of closing it for good.
Great shape. Better service.
The course was in great shape. Greens were slick and true. Refreshment cart came by at least 3 times from start to finish of the round, which was great because it was very hot today. I was pleasantly surprised at the quality of customer service, it was much better than I recalled. Will be back soon.
nice to see a professionally managed property
staff great
course great
food awesome
we spend the last week in Vegas and this tops any course we played there.
challenge yourself and play the blue or black tees you will be amazed with the role outs. Visuals are also better than from the whites. greens rolling very true
Great afternoon round
Great course and Great rate.
Pace moved well for a late Sunday afternoon.
Tukwet Legends is a fun 18 holes.
Great Course
Enjoyed playing the legends course. Great shape. Greens were fantastic at 10.5. Fairways were good. Cool design. Just be ready to play in the wind
Great course, not as challenging but still tough one.
I played this course in the afternoon after playing the Champions in the morning. Since the first round was very very tough, the Legend course felt much easier as there were not many bunkers as the other course and the bunkers were not as tall as well.
The wind did make the play very difficult as it was pretty strong from the first tee to the last putt.
Overall my group had a great experience.
Heard from the started that the course is planning on working on the bunkers to add more sand and take out all the rocks so it would be much better once it is completed.
What happened to this course?
I played the Legend. It use to be a pretty good course. Now, not so much. Sand is terrible. Fairways are bad. They really need to go with cart path only when the ground is wet. They also need a ranger to enforce it. The fairways are not clearly defined either. The rough is unhittable in many cases. Besides the thick grass your ball usually has ground in front of it and behind it. The greens for the most part was the only saving grace. They were good. What happened to this course???
Great layout poorly maintained.
My son and I played the Legends. He is a 14, and I am 20+. I was once an 11. Former member of Industry Hills for 15 years. The course layout is very interesting, fun, and challenging. But the course conditions are poor. Traps don't drain and have grass growing inside them. Very little sand in traps. Way too many soft spots in fairways and around greens. We had several perfect shots plug in center of fairways. Rough is too high for the average golfer. Good shots were lost in rough very close to the fairway. Greens are fun and fair. They were the best quality of this course. We have played the Champions course and found it to be basically the same as this criticism of Legends.
Great layout and greens
The course has a challenging layout and awesome bent grass greens. It was a cool and windy day but after a couple holes you descend in elevation and are protected from the winds. The rough is thick and you can easily lose your ball, so keep an eye on it. The cart barn personnel said they hadn’t mowed it recently due to the overseeding. The bunkers have compacted soil and rocks, so avoid. Some of the tee boxes aren’t very level and have depressions in them. The fairways are in great shape, overall. First time playing and very impressed with the layout and greens. Will definitely be back! We were a foursome and had singles and twosomes behind us. We let some groups play through and were trying not to hold anyone up, but balls going into the rough slowed us down.
