Slow play
Tournament that day and after 40 minutes behind schedule. Played the back nine first and stopped. 4 groups waiting to tee off on #1. Horrible pace of play!
fun day
beautiful course, would like to play it once a week if i could
So much waiting
GET A STARTER ON THE FIRST TEE. There were like 8 twosomes down there and we had to talk amongst ourselves to figure out who's teeing off when. We (12:30) ended up pairing up with a single (12:22) because apparently the other people in our groups never showed?
Also, why are we going back to 8 minute gaps in tee times instead of 10 minutes?? It took us almost SIX HOURS to get around this place. Literally every single tee box was stacked up. We saw a marshal once and he brushed off our complaints about how insanely slow it was.
The layout of the course is fine. Greens were somehow both slow and not receptive. Fairways needed to be cut. Didn't have much of an issue with dirt patches like I've seen in other reviews.
Overall, horrible experience; not playing here again. If I'm driving all the way out to Corona, I'll play Eagle Glen or make the trek to Oak Quarry.
Great layout
Loved the course staff was friendly pace was great and layout was fun and challenging. Greens slow and pretty beat up only complaint here but knew it going into based on the other reviews. Would recommend and come back for another round.
Share carts
They charge extra $15 for individual cart, otherwise you have to share with a stranger, which is very unreasonable under current pandemic situation. Plus they only tell you this when check in...
Great Course!
I live in the Menifee/Temecula area and work right on Torrey Pines South in La Jolla...and I’ve played nearly every course within the 70 mile stretch from San Diego County to Riverside County. So I know a thing or two about great golf. Glen Ivey is one of those fun courses I’d surely recommend golfers that look for a good time with family or friends on the course. Most par 4 holes are shorter and possibly drivable for the long ballers, but yet it’s more entertaining like target golf. In fact, If you’re ever in the mood for couples golf...this is definitely the place. You and your significant other will not be disappointed.
What happened to Glen Ivy?
The story I heard was that there have been a couple different owners as of late. The current one has his hands full with challenges but is making progress. I've played this course about 20 times in the past, its been probably 4 years since the last time. I would probably give it til 2021 for some of the conditions to change. The course needs some TLC, hopefully there's a good maintenance superintendent involved. You need to move the tee box markers every day,, especially on the par 3's. Good Luck
Going downhill
Thought the over priced green fees were due to spacing out to keep golfers safe. Sadly was wrong and they dont care about safety. The course itself is beat down and seems the workers are lacking. Management has not been able to keep up with restrictions and pretty deters gofers from want to play. Pace is bad and carts do not seemed sanitized. What a shame.
Fun golf course to play. Great mix of golf holes!!
Course conditions are improving. Still needs work around the greens. Addition of new white sand in the bunkers really gives the course a stunning look!
Not what it once was
I am a gold club member and have enjoyed playing here for many years, but the last two times out will make me think twice about playing here for awhile. The tee boxes were in fair to good shape, but many were muddy or lacking grass. The bunkers have new sand, but no rakes availed to smooth the new deep footprints left by inconsiderate golfers. For the life of me, I don’t understand under current conditions, why golf courses can’t add a clean rake to each cart so that we can take better care of the areas that we can help with. The fairways have many dead spots, probably due to the heat, but more likely due to not wanting to water over their new bunker sand. The real problems are with the greens. Totally neglected. Dry and bare spots around each and every green, that are so dry, the dirt that is there is cracked like a dry lake bed. Several greens have severe dead areas, plain dirt and it doesn’t look like they are taking the time in the morning to move the pin positions or repair the marks and divots from the day before. Pace of play was over 5 hours, with no Marshall or Glen Ivy personnel in sight. And all this for near $80 dollars per person. So no golf here until they decide to rectify these situations or lower the price to reflect the cow pasture the maintenance people have left this course to deteriorate too.
Need some work
Several bare patches in the fringe areas. Greens are slow because hot weather! Slow round no marshal.
Not COVID-19 friendly
They make you pay $15 to ride alone. I don’t have a problem riding with my buddies. There are covid restrictions everywhere, so as a single it’s nice to ride alone when you don’t know the people your plying with. Not at Glen Ivy though, if you want to play it safe, it will cost you $15 extra dollars. Won’t be playing here as a single anymore. I thought course had to allow us to ride alone due to state rules? Guess not, Maybe Glen Ivy just don’t care about the people who spend money there.
Agree this is unreasonable during a pandemic and a money grab over a customer's health.
Mr. Fang, Thank you for the comment. This is a new development in response to the heat and the decreasing daylight. In the recent past, to assure carts are available for morning and afternoon tee times we had to block tee times in the morning. Many golfers were trying to book earlier times, so we responded by making those tee times available. Single riders fees are a necessity to providing more service to the higher demand for golf. Our current online registration is powered by Golf Now and the additional fee information is listed. Before choosing a fee, we did compare to other courses operating under similar guidelines for single riders, including one in our area which is much higher. You are not required to share a cart it is still an optional choice. We will accommodate you request, but at this time is does require an additional fee based on cart availability.
