Tierra Rejada Golf Club
About
Nestled in the foothills of eastern Ventura County, Tierra Rejada Golf Club is known for its picturesque setting and stunning views. The club overlooks the Reagan Presidential Library. Tierra Rejada is unique in that it offers a formidable test for low handicappers from the championship tees but it is also accessible to mid and high handicappers thanks to the Players Course. The 5,600-yard Players Course is a "course within a course" that was designed to keep the game fun for golfers who may not be looking for a tough test. Even though it may be shorter, both golf courses still provide a challenge. There are plenty of ups and downs throughout thanks to the rolling hills and there are a variety of hazards coming into play including water and strategically placed bunkers.

Want a challenge play Tierra Rejada .
Very good course. Well maintained especially the greens. There are four holes that are very demanding and require a high degree of accuracy. Hole 3 is a par 4 with a blind tee show needing a accurate shot just right of center to be successful leaving a shot to a downhill large green.. Holes 4 is a par 5 dogleg right all up hill that requires a well placed drive up the left side. The green slopes back to front protected with bunkering that requires a well placed shot to have a chance to score well .Hole 8 is a par 4 down to a fairway requiring a well placed shot to stay in play. Driver is not recommended. The green is well protected with bunkering with undulation. Hole 18 is par 4 which requires an accurate tee shot over the right edge of a dogleg right.. Approach shot to a narrow green with water front and bunker back.. Overall course caters to Intermediate to advanced golfer.
Challenging but fair
This course has a lot of elevation changes and other quirks. I was a bit worried that it would be a "circus" course, tricked up for no reason. But,even though the course was a bit of a challenge, it was a very fair course. The designers used the terrain to good effect, offering nice views and a fun experience. On a really windy day, this course could potentially get pretty chasllenging!
My Favorite SoCal Course
I always love playing this course. The wet winter has given a nice pop of green to everything up in the canyon. The greens are perfectly manicured and the course design is terrific. Lots of blind shots. Very tough to go low if you are not driving the ball well. My best driving days have me getting about 245 off the tee and I'm often left with very long approaches to well guarded greens. Bunkers are great, few rocks, kind of a dirt/sand combination, but certainly not the worst bunkers in a 50 mile radius. The course is quite challenging not just because of its length, but especially its design. Prime example is the par 4 10th hole. It takes a solid drive straight uphill to leave you a short iron approach continuing up the hill to an elevated green with a significant false front. The landing area is small and if you are short you will roll off the green and if you are long you'll be chipping into the direction of a steep down hill slope. Miss left or right, or better yet, don't miss! Great scorecard with 5 par 5s, 5 par 3s and 8 par 4s. My favorite feature of the course has to be the tee shots over the gorges. There's like 5 or 6 of them! Take extra balls, have fun, and watch out for rattlesnakes!
Gorgeous Spring Day at Tierra Rejada
Could not have been a more spectacular day to play this course. Course was in excellent shape. Tee boxes are challenging, but fair, to all skill levels. The course design, especially on about 4 holes are unique from the standpoint of extremely elevated tee boxes. This adds to the challenge and fun of this course. Well placed tee shots are rewarded.
Perfect California Course
We moved to California from the East Coast and we were used to playing on one of the top private courses in Connecticut. It is a parkland course with wide fairways and lots of trees. What a pleasant surprise to have such a fun, challenging course 15 minutes from our house here! Even last summer in the drought the course was in very good shape and the greens excellent. It's challenging but not too arduous with beautiful vistas. Enjoy playing every time.
My favorite course in the area
This is my favorite course to play hands down. Great prices too, this is a steal! Wouldn't recommend walking this course as its pretty tough and hilly. Very nice facilities with a great staff to match. Bring your A game.
Terrible Design
As a fan of golf course architecture, this course is not something I will ever play again. The views are nice, the elevation changes and conditions are both nice. However, the narrow fairways are borderline unplayable. Multiple blind tee shots to extremely tight corridors make holes less than fun. I understand the difference between challenging and ridiculous and this is more on the ridiculous side. Tons of forced carries make it difficult for high handicappers. Holes that run next to each other with little to know strategy. Shots are predetermined for you which makes it boring. Also throw in a fake waterfall, stream and lake and you have yourself the gimmick trifecta. Staff was friendly, food was good, price waa fair but the course design was not.
Perfect Golf Course with friends!
It was really good experience with my favorite friends!
Perfect course conditions with good weather!
Bring your hiking shoes!
Tierra Rejada is the hilly-est--nay, the most mountainous--course I have ever played. But then, it is a canyon course in California! I found the inclines and declines pretty severe--usually two to three clubs worth. Add to this the stiff breezes and you have a challenge on your hands. The greens were fast but fair and the fairways and tee boxes in good shape. The best part for an 80's-90's golfer like me, tho, is the great vistas from on high. Just beautiful!
Staff was terrific, breakfast burrito was awesome, and the round clocked in at just over 4 hours (we were behind a large shotgun group, so four hours was actually good). I played as a single paired with a couple locals who told me that the brush and fauna that capture wayward shots here are home to rattlesnakes, so hit em straight if you play this course! That said, this course has fairly broad fairways--I hit most of them, which is kinda remarkable. All in all, a very nice outing.
First time at Tiera Rejada
Nice staff and grill personnel.
Played w/ four others and carts /gps worked flawlessly.
Nice elevation changes and enough hazards.
Narrow fairways adds to challenge.
Great vistas and course well maintained.
First time playing here, but going to schedule in far more often.
Tierra Rejada
The course was in good shape.
it would have been better if the Foursome in front of us had used the White or Purple tees. They were about 30+ Handicap. They were playing from the Blues.
Everything else was great.
great experience
I played for the first time. Reminded me of course I played in northen MI.
I would love to play again only If I can get a deal from Golf Now.
I played several courses (in Calif) with most expensive to the least. Tierra Rejada's price is commensurate to what I expected with price paid. Only draw back: I received Tierra Rejada ad tregardung senior discount but my friends where not able to get it.
"My boss said, not today" is the comment given by the pro shop staff.
I got mine through GolfNow.com
Beautiful and Challenging Golf Course
If you're ready to be challenged, TR is the course for you. You need to be precise and bring your A game. Layout is great and greens were in great shape after the rain.
Food is very good as well.
