Tierra Rejada Golf Club
About
Nestled in the foothills of eastern Ventura County, Tierra Rejada Golf Club is known for its picturesque setting and stunning views. The club overlooks the Reagan Presidential Library. Tierra Rejada is unique in that it offers a formidable test for low handicappers from the championship tees but it is also accessible to mid and high handicappers thanks to the Players Course. The 5,600-yard Players Course is a "course within a course" that was designed to keep the game fun for golfers who may not be looking for a tough test. Even though it may be shorter, both golf courses still provide a challenge. There are plenty of ups and downs throughout thanks to the rolling hills and there are a variety of hazards coming into play including water and strategically placed bunkers.

Good course
Greens just punched and sanded, Pace of play was great for Sunday afternoon.
A++ course
Decent green, friendly staff and challenging. but super fun course. Highly recommanded!!
Great expereince, Good value, Beautiful course.
Since we were approaching a holiday weekend and were concerned with traffic, we arrived early for our tee time. The excellent pro shop staff was able to get us out on the course within 1/2 hour. A beautiful course in the Simi Valley hills with both elevated tees and greens. Very scenic, well maintained. A bit more sand in those bunkers would be ideal!. Pace of play was excellent and the course was a good challenge for us. Thanks to all involved!
Great Value
Overall, a great experience. The GPS on the carts were a little sketchy, and the cart we had almost ran out of juice, but otherwise, it was very fun.
Length & Accuracy Required!
I've played all of the "well known" courses in this area and this is THE most challenging one of the bunch. I loved it.
About 70% of the holes have massive elevation changes, blind corners, super-narrow fairways and greens, or a combination of everything. Some of the greens on the front nine are nestled so tightly inside a small canyon that you can't even see the flag when you are 100 yards away.
There were probably more holes than not in which I stood on the tee and said "you've got to be kidding me!" I'm a pretty good golfer (handicap <10) and I just had to stop thinking about the balls I was losing. I figured this is a course I will come back to A LOT because it's such a great challenge.
The course is pristine. The greens were a little bouncy, but nothing too bad, the fairways were in great condition, and the rough was thick enough to do its job.
Highly recommend. This is my favorite course in the area.
CHallenging course
THe course really challenges the average golfer. The course was in pretty good shape and the greens ran true.
Tierra Rejeda Revisited
Recently returned to this area & found a good value via golf now. The front 9 is still very challenging with blind shots. The courses bunkers were horrible. Hard as rock w/ little sand. The carts are neing replaced shortly which is greatly needed. With the steep cart paths, the carts brake pads are in bad shape. Given the diifficulty of this course, you can see that revenue is hurting & certain expenses have been cut. The views are still great.
great course to play
the day we played was very Hot, so the green were little fast, fairways were partially yellow, and lucky having some breeze come from Venture county. we would definitely come back here whenever the temperature drop below 80. that'll be perfect.
Good Value
If you can get a deal for this course, you won't be disappointed. We played at the 12:16 time for $38 with cart, which is a great value. This is a challenging course where every hole is unique. Most T-shots are to angled fairways that often change in elevation. The greens are on the fast side, but not overly so. Fairways, rough, and greens are all in good shape with few GUR areas. The views are spectacular and despite the challenged level, birdies are there to be had, even by a 20 HCP like myself.
All Around Great Experience
Course was excellent plus at the end of the round the bar had free nachos and veggie dip !
Super slow play
Play was so slow I repeatedly saw groups being hit into and witnessed 3 fights almost break out. Did not see a Marshall in the 5 :15 it took to play this round weekday with a 12:15 tee time. We did see the cart beverage lady about every 3 holes! I had not played this course in 2 years and now I remember why. They build up their "players course" to speed up the game....but this was the slowest and most uncomfortable round of golf I have ever played. Does anybody really care about course conditions when a fight is going to break out on next tee box? By the way...GPS on carts worked about 25% of the time.
Good times for experienced players
This is a good course. It isn't easy and isn't expected that a novice or occasional golfer would have a good time of it, but for a weekend / experienced golfer such as myself and my group, it works just fine. It's important to keep an eye on your ball flight. While you may think it looks as if it's headed towards the middle of the fairway, it could very well hit and roll right into the barranca. That's no fun... especially when it comes to documenting your score for that hole.
The pace of play was great. It was a beautiful day and we were done in less than the typical 4.5 hours that you might encounter elsewhere.
Great time had by all!
Play it forward was a great experience. Course was in great shape. Fair test.
Fun course but missing some of the benefits they claim to provide.
Great course, challenging and well kept. However, the GPS did not work in the cart and curbside bag service or letting you drive the cart to your car would be nice.
Nice views tough course
Tierra Rejada is a well layed out course than has challenges for any level golfer. some fairways are narrow so you have little choice but to be in the fairway. The greens are fast but true. Some holes have great views of the valley and hills. If you want to see if you are a good golfer try Tierra Rejada.
Bring Balls
If you aren't a straight hitter you have the distinct possibility of losing balls, and BRING YOUR OWN TOO as 'sleeves' of the balls there ARE NOT CHEAP! ($13/sleeve for Titleist) Some, actually A LOT of the chaparral should be removed and then maybe the errant balls could 'trickle' back down into the fairway making the course that much funner, (possibly, lol), but I'm sure as the spring arrives into summer the vegetation will fill in anyway. The fairways are just a little "spotty" brown in places (coming out of winter) but otherwise in excellent shape, the greens are in TERRIFIC shape, albeit a little firm and don't hold all that much, but fun to putt on and really undulating on certain ones! I dropped on really high shots from about 70-80yds out, well struck, and the ball would STILL go off the back, much to my amazement...AND disappointment I might add! The greens really are great though once you realize that your target should be in front of the hole. The scenery is ABSOLUTELY FANTASTIC and you will be quite pleased that you chose this course to play on this day, be sure to pay 'homage' to SoCal native and one of our GREATEST presidents, Ron Reagan, on the 11th too!
It wasn't too windy and when it's at your back, give it a "rip", just keep it straight! There really is everything, 3's, (some long), challenging 4's (some long), and LOT'S of 5's! (five). I really had a great time out there, it's a REALLY FUN course, we didn't have to wait but on 1 hole, and that's because the twosome (later stated) were just "dicking" around hitting 2 balls on that latter hole because they didn't see anyone behind them, which was fine! PLAY THIS COURSE, you'll be happy that you did, not too expensive and money well spent, I can't wait to play it again! Enjoy!
Tough on a windy day, but worth it if you are up for a challenge.
Not my favorite layout in VC (the other two in the area I like better are listed below), but for the discounted online rate of $49 to ride on a Friday morning, I will not complain. The course in winter was a bit hard-packed, but I imagine the dry, windy conditions didn't help. The greens were in great shape, and held up just fine, though not soft. I certainly took a few opportunities to land it short and have it run onto the green. Certainly, you will need accuracy here, and although driver will not be necessary on every driving hole, you will face a high risk/high reward scenarion on nearly every hole. From blind teeshots, to narrow landing zones, elevated teeboxes, large ravines to carry, and sharp doglegs, Tierra offers it all for the low handicapper. I'd suggest a handicap of 10 or lower for this course unless you plan to play a forward teebox.
Good and challenging course, especially from the tips. Good restaurant and pro shop, needs marshall for pace of play
Will play here again but pace of play has been slow lately. Course in in decent shape. Challenging mountain style course on front 9 with great views from the top
Front nine is a real test for any golfer.
Patches in the fairways and along rough that will definately need attention as spring moves forward. I've seen rates at this course exceed $100 in season and this is no $100 course at any time of the year. The price through GolfNow was fair.. No starter or ranger on the course......the ranger could have been helpful in moving things along. Cart girl efficient and friendly.
our favorite local course
Good condition, great greens, front 9 is tough, mistakes are gone.
