Nestled in the foothills of eastern Ventura County, Tierra Rejada Golf Club is known for its picturesque setting and stunning views. The club overlooks the Reagan Presidential Library. Tierra Rejada is unique in that it offers a formidable test for low handicappers from the championship tees but it is also accessible to mid and high handicappers thanks to the Players Course. The 5,600-yard Players Course is a "course within a course" that was designed to keep the game fun for golfers who may not be looking for a tough test. Even though it may be shorter, both golf courses still provide a challenge. There are plenty of ups and downs throughout thanks to the rolling hills and there are a variety of hazards coming into play including water and strategically placed bunkers.

Good conditions for winter golf.

The front 9 plays more challenging than the back, particularly as pertains to course knowledge; there are ravines to carry, elevation changes to deal with vis-a-vis winds, and some blind tee shots that require accuracy/shaped-shots to avoid OB and lateral hazard penalties. However, the greens are in good condition, undulating in places, and roll true. Once you reach the back 9, the course is pretty much in front of you; not to say it gets easier... just less guess-work compared to the front.

Course in good condition, nice layout. Very hilly and windy.

While the course was in good shape the pace of play was slow. The main reason for this was greed and poor course management by the operating staff.

Additional foursomes were inserted causing tee times to be delayed by over 40 minutes. This added to the slow pace of play allowed my group to complete only 14 holes before dark. There was absolutely no concern nor offer of compensation by the staff regarding this. In addition there was a shortage of carts and the GPS functions were not working.

Challenging course with great views of the valley

One of the best 'mountain courses' in the area. Greens and fairways are in good shape. Challenging play for us as it was a windy day so getting across some of the gulches was problematic. Spectacular views of the valleys from several holes. The eighth was a monster, as always.

Great course! Challenging! Lots of terrain & hole variations!

Wonderful course! Great views. A lot of tricky terrain. Variety of vistas & wind conditions. Feels more like a private club than a public course, largely because of the great members who help maintain the high standards, like a player's course.

Decent track but sloooooooow

Played in January so I had low expectations about the condition of the course. Pace of play was brutal. We started 20 minutes after our 12:20pm tee time and still weren't able to get 18 in before the sun went down at 545pm.

Willing to give it another shot this summer but expected a bit better experience for $55 greens.

Slow pace

Course is in decent shape. Tee time was 10:54 and we didnt tee it up until 11:30. Watched the groups turn and saw lots of gaps. No marshalls. Talked to club house staff and she said the pace was slow because of the groups going off the first tee!!!????!!!.
Some people's logic is amazing!
Until golf courses address pace of play and make golfers either hit off the proper tees or keep pace with the group in front of them, we are stuck with this situation.

Beautiful Course

This course has great views on each hole. And at only 20 miles from home it's a good place to get away from L.A.'s muni courses. It could have played a lot faster but the foursome ahead of us was slow. Almost a 5 hour round... Be sure to bring a lot of extra balls if you can't hit it straight.

Check your Cart!

The carts the gave us died on us twice during 18 holes and the third cart they gave us had sketchy brakes. The pace of play was slow and the course was in average condition. The greens are fast so watch out for that. When we reported the cart problems to the pro shop we were told that the carts are just like that. Never played there before so not sure if this happens often.

Very nice track-- Maroon tees were plenty challenging at 6000 yards. Would be extremely difficult to walk.

Well worth the trip from Santa Monica to play -- nice challenge for all the clubs in your bag. Lots of nice scenery too.

Fun and very challenging golf course

This is one of my favorite courses in the area. It can definitely be a bit challenging for the below average golfer (90s+). They had the green rolling very true. This is a course that plays much easier after you've played it a couple of times. There are a few blind tee shots, blind approaches, good areas to miss, and areas that you just can't be. So playing the course for the first time can be a bit frustrating. The only reason I didn't give this course a 5 is because of the men in the pro shop. A couple, but not all, were very short and rude. I watched a few very slow 4somes go out in front of my 2some and asked if we could tee off on the back or if we didn't finish maybe get a rain check. (although we really just wanted to tee off on the back so that we could finish) They said we couldn't tee off on the back even though the only group coming was in 9 fairway. Usually I wouldn't mind too much, but it was my friends Bday (which I told them), we payed almost 100 bucks, and I felt that they not only didn't help, they didn't even make the effort to. All in all, I would go back, but I think that for what they charge you to play a round of golf, they could hire people that can handle interacting with customers in a much more pleasant manner.

Good fairway condition but slow play

Good value for the price, fairway kept in great condition, need Marshall to be out there to push the very slow groups in front.

Must hit straight

Even though the course has long holes, it is smart to play a shorter shot and layup. Especially on the front 9.

Had a nice day considering the elements.

My first experience with golfnow.com. Was able to get out on a great course for a great price!!
The course was in great shape. Have only played the course a couple times. It helps to know the course because there are couple of blind shots. The landing areas seemed a bit tight, although it could be my game that need improvement.

This course is a bit difficult from the blue tees for the above average golfer.

Some holes are too difficult for the average player. They require a challenging tee shot or an expert short iron.

almost like two different courses

Front nine is just incredible. Elevated tee boxes and great views, then there is the back nine. I thought I had left the course and accidently was playing a different place. Front nine maintained very well, the back nine had a couple of holes that can only be described as a dog track. Overall, I enjoyed my round, but wondering, what happened on the back nine?
