Angeles National Golf Club is the only Nicklaus Design course in Los Angeles County. It is tucked away in the Angeles National Forest. This championship course is known for being one of the area's most challenging with tough greens that are lightning fast and more than 50 strategically placed bunkers. There are also two lakes and a creek that come into play. Golfers should be prepared for long par 4s and demanding carries over ravines and barrancas. Not only is it a golf course that requires length, you'll also need accuracy. Angeles National Golf Club finishes with a par 4 that plays from an elevated tee alongside the rushing creek that edges the left of the fairway and to the right of the landing area there's a deep bunker. To the right, the green is bordered by deep grass hollows and bunkers and there is a lake to the left.

Pace of Play

Great layout, good challenge. However, no starter, no marshal and zero focus on pace of play. It took five hours to complete our round.

The entire back nine the GPS was threatening to make us skip a hole because we were so far behind. Completely absurd because we waited on every shot behind the two in the front of us.

No one at the golf course fixes a pitch mark on the greens. It’s a shame because they were great. A little more attention to detail on pace of play and actually having a marshal to move people along with make this a better experience.

Pro shop person was disinterested. Great layout experience could be way better.

Course is extremely dry, barely any grass on fairways

fairways are sooo tight you can't even take a divot. rock hard. pace of play was at a snail's pace. waited on EVERY shot and EVERY hole. no marshals anywhere. extremely overpriced!!! rustic canyon is 10000x better!!!!!!!!

Good

Excellent course, difficult. Typically, good pace of play. This past round a little slower, which was unusual.

Bad customer service

They said they would refund my round, but they never did and now do not respond to follow up emails. When you call them, you are diverted to a call center. Just an odd experience overall, and would recommend avoiding this course.

not worth the money

It was just barely OK. First, no customer service or starter available. The group in front were extremely slow. We tried to get the ranger to help, but we were never able to reach anybody! This made our round one hour longer. Practice range was far away and very poorly set up, incorrect distances marked. Practice balls not included in the (expensive) green fee. The course... nothing too exciting in the design. On the fairways the grass was often too short, making it uncomfortable to hit 3 or 5 woods. Mediocre/bad experience overall. $185? Not worth even $70.

5.5hr round

I love the course layout, conditions were awesome and the staff was friendly..

However the pace of play here is atrocious. Our tee time was 11:50 and we didn’t finish until almost 6pm. The course feels as if they have 3 employees that work here (starter, greenskeeper, bar lady).

If the pace of play were “normal”, I’d be a regular but until that’s fixed, there are far better options for the $$.

Overpriced for what you get

1) Starter wasn’t friendly

2) The driving range for warm up in the morning is facing the sun, so you literally blind yourself with each shot on the warm up.

3) This is priced at the higher end of public nearby, but the condition of the tee boxes and greens was not great. Definitely needs better management and ongoing cleanup.

4) There was a group four groups in front of us that was moving too slow and it ruined the pace of play all day. The marshalls came and checked in multiple times, but they caught it far too late. It ruined the pace of the round. Would highly suggest a longer interval to tee off rate. It’s currently 10 minutes and should be 12-15.

5) The food is horrible. I walked up to the restaurant at the turn and another player told me NOT to order the chicken sandwich as it was gross microwaveable and horrible tasting. The guy behind the counter was rude.

This course has great potential, but sadly the management must really suck. I would fire the head of this place and put someone else in there that hires better people that care more.

Lacking Service

No knock against the course as its scenic, well maintained, and beautiful. I thoroughly enjoyed the course, the layout and the beauty.

The issue I have was with the service. Pro shop guy was less than welcoming and friendly, cart girl was not friendly what so ever, and then by 3pm on a Saturday, they shut the beverage car down, the cafe was shut and we were left thirsty on a very hot day. I don't get it.

Ehh

Very well kept course, but definitely not worth the price! The restaurant was closed until 11, and the snack bar that opened at 730 was barren and staffed by a short and rude employee. We asked for a breakfast burrito, which was on the menu, and he said very rudely "no breakfast, the machine is down". Um ok, what machine? There was a gas stove with a pan, and a microwave that worked. So is there some kind of burrito making machine I'm not aware of? Lol. He gave no explanation, and not even a quick "sorry bout that". Then there was no cart person with snacks or refreshments, which would be fine on a cheaper course, but it was almost $200. They need to resolve these issues, or lower their price quite a bit. Definitely won't be coming back unless they rectify these simple issues.

First and Last

For the $200 they charge it’s a bit much imo. Can’t buy food past 4pm on a Saturday? Crazy!

Course was in good condition.

Just the amenities and course condition does t warrant $200.

Disappointing .. and a Rattler!

Been playing here since it opened.

Many changes since then.

None good!

First time there since pre-Covid,

I played as a single, first tee in front of me was a twosome- with a camera crew! They were over a hole behind just teeing off #1,!

I finally played through but poor call by the prison letting them out at all.

Conditions were pretty good even with the overseeding, except for the big gopher mounds on several greens.

To the left of #9 green there lives a big, black rattler with 8 rattles!

Being a local Angeleno and Ca native I knew what to (not ) do but if I was from somewhere else?

Could be disastrous.

Won’t play there again soon.
