Angeles National Golf Club
About
Angeles National Golf Club is the only Nicklaus Design course in Los Angeles County. It is tucked away in the Angeles National Forest. This championship course is known for being one of the area's most challenging with tough greens that are lightning fast and more than 50 strategically placed bunkers. There are also two lakes and a creek that come into play. Golfers should be prepared for long par 4s and demanding carries over ravines and barrancas. Not only is it a golf course that requires length, you'll also need accuracy. Angeles National Golf Club finishes with a par 4 that plays from an elevated tee alongside the rushing creek that edges the left of the fairway and to the right of the landing area there's a deep bunker. To the right, the green is bordered by deep grass hollows and bunkers and there is a lake to the left.

Play elsewhere - too expensive for what it is.
Go play elsewhere.
Played on recommendation from a friend who played here a few years back(good golfer).
He was shocked to hear my feedback. Guess this place has fallen off badly - staff was perfect representation
Course was mediocre at best for $170. Would not want to play here during summer.
The staff was confrontational when asked about the range balls including in the booking… we were told to prove it(it’s on their website as an fyi).
Angeles National
Very convenient to Hollywood downtown only about 20 to 30 minutes. Definitely a California desert course greens were really good shape, fairways were good but a little dry and hard. Very challenging as they suck up blind shots off the tea and the greens. Would’ve been nice to have a starter or a beverage cart.
Good course
Angeles National is a good course that could be better. The layout is fun. Some areas are a bit confusing, but nothing bad.
My biggest gripe is the fairways. Most of them are yellowing and many areas around the green are very tight due to a lack of healthy grass. Most bunkers were fine, although a few fairway bunkers were a little rocky and played as “Ground Under Repair”.
The best aspect of this course is that it is close to Los Angeles. Ojai Valley Inn and Oak Quarry are much better courses and usually cheaper to play, but they are about twice as far from LA.
Overall, ANGC is worth playing for about $100 on the weekdays, but $165 for a round is definitely not worth the money.
Perfect
Golf pass deal and perfect weather = great pleasure.
not worth the price
this course's regular price of $160 for a friday-sun rate is not worth it. fairways had dead spots, sandtraps filled with rocks. pace of play was great but i think it was an unusually slow day. some memorable holes but overall there are better courses for less money
Dont waste your money!!!
Played here for years. They raised rates during Covid so I only come back on a Golf Now rate. Its normally $100.00 on Tuesday and gets more expensive as the week goes on. The course is noticeably in trouble. The fairways were burnt out. The greens are rock hard. We had 12 players on multiple holes at tee box, fairway and greens. 12 people!! No marshall. It use to be a very nice course but its dying out. Spend your money elsewhere.
One of the best Los Angeles golf courses
Great course, conditions were amazing, price is a bit steep, but pace of play is quick.
So fun and unique!
Super nice course! I was hesitant to play for a while as I saw some negative reviews but I had such a great experience. Pro staff was nice, food shack was solid, layout was extremely challenging but fun, course conditions were great, and every green is fun but quite hard. I can see average golfers or worse having a bad time on the course as it truly is challenging and that’s probably a reason for the long rounds on the weekend. Monday was 4.5 hours with no waiting, and for the Golfnow deal time it’s an absolute can’t miss. 190 on weekends might be a bit pricey but it’s a fun one forsure. I’ll definitely be coming back.
Slowest round of my life (and I play 50+ rounds a year)
We had a 12:24 tee time. With 5 groups waiting on the first tee, we started 40 minutes late. Never took a shot without waiting at least a few minutes. No starter, marshal or staff making any attempt to keep the course on schedule or speed play. We barely finished before it started getting dark (sunset was 7:10pm).
Beautiful Property But Thin Turf
Angeles National is in a beautiful mountainous area that is quite scenic. But turf conditions were very thin despite recent rains. That said, the course plays hard and fast and greens were in good condition. As a public course, the bunkers were rarely raked and full of footprints. Hate that.
Course Needs a Marshall
You would expect the pace of play to be enforced for the price of playing, But since they don't have a marshall, it gets backed up.
Booked a time to play with two others. Person running the pro shop had know idea what he was doing. Sent me out by myself. Told him I didn't want to play by myself. Basically said too bad. The round was pre-paid. No other choice but to get stuck behind other groups. Ended up skipping some holes to avoid waiting on foursomes.
Over rated
It is described online as having the tightest lies of any course around the Los Angeles area and that’s because there’s no grass. I don’t even know what that stuff is, but it’s not grass in my opinion. I am a scratch golfer, and have played all around the world so I have an educated opinion of golf courses in general. Also, the greens the way they are constructed with undulation and the speed of the greens doesn’t meet USGA rules as far as where you can cut the pins. Also, it took 5 1/2 hours to play on Saturday and no Marshall ever came on the course . There were high handicap players playing from the back and it took forever. Never going back. Thank you.
NOT WORTH THE MONEY
STAY AWAY! This course is not worth the money. The staff are surley, arrogant and unfriendly. The pro shop closed at 2:30pm; no one was there, and it was locked up tight. If your cart died on the course at 3:00 pm, you were you of luck. The condition of the golf course is mediocre at best. I cannot, in good conscience, recommend to anyone that they come play here.
Great track. Need to reopen bar/restaurant
Green fees on the high side. Facility has never re-opened after COVID shut down. Paid $30 for a Bloody Mary (well vodka) which was ridiculous! There doesn't seem to be much customer consideration in the running of the facility. Too bad. The potential is there.
