La Quinta Mountain: #15
#15 on La Quinta's Mountain is laying along the base of the mountains - stay tight to the base and go for this par 5 in two. The green stays snug up against the base and will not be in full view.

Overseeding Season

For $118 per person starting at 9:30 am we were able to play the Mountain Course which was being prepared for overseeding. The course conditions were fairly dry and the greens were brittle. The course is beautiful and layout is appealing. Somewhat difficult especially if you have never played here before. It was unfortunate we were not told of the unfavorable course conditions before booking within the 72 hour cancellation time period. I would recommend this course but only during proper "seasons".

Golfer Beware

Find out the over seed schedule before playing. The layout of the course is very good, however the greens were horrible.

Interesting back 9

I cannot fault anything about this course apart from the price. It is even more expensive than The Classic, which is a truly beautiful course.

We come every few years to play for a few weeks and this is one that we always play and enjoy - the change of holes through the back nine really makes you concentrate.

Some interesting holes

Many of the holes on the mountain course are very interesting. Some run right up next to the mountains and a few have water. Second hole is typical Pete Dye par 3, watch out for the water left, it’s definitely in play. 16 is a beautiful downhill par 3. Hit the green or... I recommend you climb the stair to the back tees, even if it’s just to take a look.

Greens are very small and have a lot of slope/undulation. If you get the slope wrong you will likely 3 putt.

10 and 11 are kind of cannula holes through the townhomes, but aside from those, they are all fun.

Fantastic Views

We played Mountain course in afternoon when much quieter, we got a fantastic rate of $39 and flew round in 3 hours. The course is fun to play and challenging in places off the black tees. I think next time I play I will have much better idea of how to get round the course, especially on the back 9. The two halves are very different, the front 9 being very open but on the back 9 as you head through the mountains the views are quite spectacular and some of the holes are very challenging. I would certainly recommend and will return if I get the opportunity.

Always a pleasure.

Played this course once in June loved it, knew I was back in Palm Springs this week and only course out of the 100s in Palm I really wanted to play, didn’t disappoint, great layout with a fair challenge. One of the best courses around.

A Desert Gem

It was a treat to play this course. The conditions were not ideal which was unfortunate but the views of the mountains made up for it. Greens did not roll true and there were parts of the fairways that seemed a bit under maintained but the clubhouse and the other amenities were incredible. The driving range was the most breathtaking range I have ever had the pleasure to hit off of with the huge mountain in your face. This left a good impression on my first desert golf experience. Anybody coming through the area that loves golf should pay a visit to this impressive venue.

My new favorite low desert golf course

Golf course was spectacular. One you will remember forever and ever. They just punched the whole course, greens, tees and Fairways a week before. So the conditions was bad but we knew it going in and it was no big deal. Course maintenance has to happen and we appreciated the opportunity to play at a highly discounted price.

La Quinta Mountain

Fantastic round on one of the classic area courses. The resort was amazing and virtually all of the staff encountered were super friendly and helpful. Actually looked forward to seeing the Marshall. He was both helpful and friendly.

The course is awesome with many holes hugging the rugged mountains at their base. It punishes mistakes and delivers a truly challenging test of your skills.

Near Perfection

The Mountain Course is one of the best courses in the Palm Springs area and is more affordable than most other nice courses. Beautiful mountain scenery. Several memorable holes. Very nice conditions. Playing in late May on a beautiful day (teed off at about 11:15 and finished at about 2:30), my wife and I had the course nearly to ourselves. No one slowing us down and no one pushing us. Doesn’t get much better than that.

Great track

A tough desert course amidst some of the best golf in the USA. This is one of the best venues in the Coachella Valley and is at arguably the best resort in the desert. You can't go wrong here and you could easily pay twice what I paid and still get a value. Holes 14-16 go through a chasm in the surrounding mountains, hence the name "Mountain Course." Very picturesque and the tee at 16 is certainly a picture spot with La Quinta Valley in the background. Make no mistake though, these are some TOUGH finishing holes with the three hardest holes in the last 5 holes. Well worth playing.

Most challenging course so far

Great day. Course conditions excellent. True greens. Good fairway. Sandy bunkers(not fine). Rough not thick(not overseeded?).

Most interesting/challenging course so far this week.

Very friendly staff. Rangers seen 3-4 times asking how we were, and keeping pace up.

Terrific scenery and views.

Hot deal for $70 a great value for such a good course..

Many ‘mesa’ greens , but ball held.
