Wekiva Golf Club
About
A solid course design and immaculate course conditions make Wekiva a favored golf destination. Crafted out of a wooded setting, it features many doglegs bordered by large stands of trees and no parallel fairways. Most holes are well bunkered with water coming into play on three holes.
A semi-private club that welcomes outside play, this 18-hole, 6,849 yard par 72 course has mature oaks, pines and palms; equitable undulating fairways; strategic bunkers and gentle mounding that highlights both the fairway and greens.
Wekiva, only 4 miles from I-4's exit 48, is a golf club in the truest sense.

#16 from Tee Photo submitted by Steve8905914 on 10/20/2014
Solid Course
Overall the course was nice. Not too difficult and the layout was decent too. Staff was super cool. Only complaint would be the old guys that are hitting off the women's tees but wanna complain about the group in front of them not playing fast enough for them to finish their round and get to their all you can eat applesauce and cottage cheese buffet reservations they made. Hit off the men's tees and maybe you wouldn't be so upset.
Coming Back
This place is making a comeback, greens are good, grass on most of the fairways, tee boxes being repaired, new carts. Spring and summer should be great. Thanks Wekiva
Place is on the up for sure. Brand new carts as well arrived a few days before Christmas. Course was in great shape the greens were pure. So much better since the summer days.
All par 3 tee boxes are getting new sod as well.
Decent
All the par three tee boxes were closed, and my buddy lost a $400 ring that was never turned in. Other than that it was a fun day. Greens were rolling ok, pro shop and cart barn staff were friendly.
Improving, but ...
I live on the 14 fairway. This course is improving but they don't have green or tee areas roped off properly. People drive their carts right up to the tees and greens. For God's sake, please rope off all the tees and greens and there will be a huge improvement. This is a very inexpensive fix.
nice course
Interesting layout. Conditions were good. A few bare spots in fairways but not many. Greens rolled well. Moderate speed. Traps in good condition. The only real water hazzard is 17, a par 3. Tee box was closed so you chipped on from 30 yards away. Number 12 also had a temporary tee box for a 110 yd shot for everyone. While it was not a big deal, in the interest of honesty, these changes should be known before you play. Nice that they're working to make the course better.
Poor Pace of Play and Disappointed with Employee Response
I would like to preface this review that I am the type of individual that rarely leaves a review or complains about service.
My buddy and I had a tee time at 8:38am on 11/4/23. We arrived at the course right before 8am and checked in. Upon check in we learned that there was a 2 man scramble that was before us (flyer said max 40 players starting at 8am). I made a comment at the front desk while paying that it was going to be a slow round and the response I received from the male employee at the counter was “they are all good players and shouldn’t slow anything down”. I was skeptical, but was excited to get out and play as the weather was wonderful. We went and hit a few balls at the range and practice green and then headed over to the putting green adjacent to the first tee 10 minutes before our tee time. There were 4 groups in the area. I asked around to try and figure out the tee times and where we fit in since we were only a twosome. Found out that the course was behind sending people off from the groups waiting. There was no employee in sight, so I walked inside the clubhouse and found the same employee that checked us in and asked him what the deal was and if we got paired up with anyone. He looked around and saw the man he was looking for at the bar talking with the bartender at the counter and said, “Todd, do your job.” Todd (the starter) turned around and came over. He asked our time and told us that we weren’t paired with anyone. He then said for us to get get in line. I voiced that there were several groups out there waiting in front of us. Todd said, “we are 30 minutes behind, what would you like me to do?” I was disappointed in his response and walked outside rather than invest the time to explain to a man that’s old enough to be my father that I expected for the course to enforce their pace of play policy. I get that courses can run behind schedule, but 30 minutes behind at 8:30 am is unreasonable and there should be some effort by the course to push the groups to not cause an issue for the groups the rest of the day. We teed off around 9am. Waited on every hole for the first 5 holes with 2 groups each time. Started getting better after that. It took us over 2.5 hours to play 9 holes (plus the late start). We left the course after playing hole 10 because it started getting backed up again. We didn’t got inside and say anything because of the poor response from the staff before we started. We never saw anyone other than the beverage cart (saw her 4 times on the front 9).
Greens were rolling well. Grass in the fairways was good, but off the fairway was hit or miss. Tee boxes in decent shape. Bunkers rough.
I won’t be coming back based on my experience today. It’s unfortunate because this could be a solid course in my rotation to play. I hope that others today that experienced the slow play do the same so that the course management understands that there are repercussions for poor customer service.
The course has greatly improved since the last time I played here. All but 2 greens were fine. Tee boxes were pretty flat and had real decent grass. If you stayed in the fairway the turf was fine . But if you weren't the grass was scarce. There was also alot of bare ground patches green adjacent on several of the greens. Not all but some. Improved for sure.
What a shame
Can’t be the first negative review for this course . I remember when when Kayo and family owned/ran this course. It was beautiful, well maintained, and managed. The last several years it appears no one cares. Surprisingly, the parking lot is pretty full. I’ll chalk that up to a convenient location and relatively cheap greens fees. But, I’ll tell you, I paid $29 on a hot deal and that was too much. I’ve never seen the course in such terrible condition in my 30 years of visits to the area. What a shame.
It’s what you make it. Needs work
You can have fun here, even if it’s not perfectly manicured. The course is on the ups but it’s not an overnight process. My family lives on the course so it’s very convenient to play. Not too challenging for beginners either but still tough for anyone. .
The courses needs a ranger to actually police the pace of play. A bev car would be nice and presumably help the overall goal of improving the facility.
Greens are decent and generally roll true, even for that Florida Bermuda! Some pockets of the course are nice while others are destroyed.
I’d recommend management do the following:
1. Ranger to police play
2. Bev cart to boost revenue
3. Properly rope off greens and tee boxes to avoid driving near them
4. Work on tee boxes and greens
5. Put bunker rakes in the bunkers not on the cart. I’ve found this promotes unraked bunkers bc usually golfers forget the rake.
