Avery Ranch Golf Club
About
Avery Ranch Golf Club is a part of the Avery Ranch residential community, 20 minutes northwest of town, that was carved and blasted out of the rocky ranchlands along Brushy Creek. This historically significant area was once home to Indians and robbers, who were drawn to this beautiful setting thick with dense oaks, meandering creeks and abundant wildlife.
The golf course was designed by former Jack Nicklaus designer Andy Raugust, who literally had to use dynamite to blast rock out of the landscape for five holes. His design features two potential signature holes on each nine.
No. 7 doglegs left, and features two scenic carries -- one off the tee and another on the approach. The hole is rather short, providing the chance to be in good position for this most spectacular approach shot on the golf course. Staring at the multi-level green, you’ll notice the huge rock wall fronting the green, the large bunker to the right, and the native cacti to the rear.
Avery Ranch Golf Club's 13th is sure to be considered one of the best par 3s in the Austin area. The 161-yard par 3 features water on the right side, impressive, towering oaks in the back, and a unique ridge of rocks to the right of the green. The reasonable distance makes it a fun challenge, and the hole features a bail out area in case of a miss

Avery Ranch
Awesome course. Play on it for the first time. Totally worth the $59
great shape Avery
fantastic condition, fairways are asgood as I have ever seen on public course.
the greens are very slick yet very true and smooth. $3 beers on the course is a bit pricey with no bargain for six pack or volume purchases.
if I had to complain about something, it would be you that a few of the holes have cart path only. And I am a bit disabled and makes The Long Walk a bit difficult, but if you hit it in the middle of their way that wouldn't be a word
Alway a pleasant surprise
I probably get out to Avery Ranch once a year. Each time I'm reminded....what an enjoyable test. Just the right amount of: room in the driving areas, undulation on the greens, challenge/difficulty in general. If I had to nitpick...the traps could use a little "sprucing up".
Avery Ranch
Course in in great shape. We would definitely come back again.
Great layout just enough water good mix of right and left doglegs a challenge for all handicaps
Love to play this couse. Having said that the pace of play by the members is a huge negative for me , they don't allow anyone to play thru and think they are the only ones on the course . If you can get a early tee time you can get out ahead of them and will enjoy your round.
Again great course and you will love to play it
Great hill country course
Great course - if you like a up & down course with fast greens, you will love this course. Great value
Nice but unfriendly
If it had not been for the starter we would rate the course unfriendly. We were told of $1 draft at the 19th hole, only to find it closed well before dark...
Layout was fun but greens were a little slow.
Really accommodating staff
Got lost on the way. Staff was accommodating and slotted us in. Got a warning from course Marshall about bad weather approaching. He was spot in the money. People were very nice and accommodating. Course was in good shape and will only improve now that Spring is here.
All around greatness
My first day back from winter was amazing!! Course was nice, grass a little dry but was to be expected so early in season! Greens were rolling really consistent! Staff was excellent on a sort of slow morning!! Had an overall great experience!!
Good Course
Avery is a very nice course and always friendly staff. can play very long but has several tees for all players. The greens had been punched a couple of weeks ago and wished they would tell you that on Golfnow but rolled pretty good. A little expensive, but every once and awhile its nice to play.
Usually better
I have played this course a number of times and usually things go well. On my round this time the pace of play was very slow and there were no marshals out on the course to address. I love the course and chalk this up to just a bad day where they had more golfers than expected but was disappointed to only be able to play 9 holes even after paying for 18 because I didn't have 6 hours available to play a round of golf.
BAD EXPERIENCE
Played the 8:06 teetime and got to the first green that might as well have been a beach. Yes aerification is neccessary but there was no word of this when we booked the teetime and when we checked in the proshop. There was no aerification alert on golfnow nor on the website. We paid $70 and was told absolutelty to how horrible the greens were. Not possible to putt from any distance. "Richard" in the proshop was extremely rude and when we quit after 9 holes he wasnt surprised but didnt mind charging us the $70 when we checked in. I will never go back to Avery Ranch again becuase of the staff and management. The course is nice but cannot help the fact that management does not care about the daily fee customer.
Good Course…but...
Avery is a great course, but when they sand all the greens and it lasts for two weeks, they should lower there rates. The greens were in pretty bad shape and will be that way for a week or so…..great facility, great staff, but this time of year it's pretty expensive to play on a course where all the greens are in bad shape.
course conditions
If Golf Now is gonna pair up with golf courses, they should get some feed back from those golf courses. I.e. reseeding greens & tee boxes, or aerating the greens. Avery Ranch is one the top courses in my area and when I booked it for a 815 tee time on a weekend ($49), I thought I had an awesome deal. Well needless to say on the first green sand was dumped onto the greens so much that you can write your name in it.
Avery Ranch
Greens had been punched and sanded three days prior, but there were still heavy amounts of sand on all the greens.
bad information
I had no idea that they had just sanded the greens. didn't know until the first hole. Wish I had of known and I would have not played.
Bad greens
I booked this course through GolfNow, so their wasn't a way of knowing, but the greens were reminiscent of a beach. Their was around 1/4" of sand on the greens, which was not enjoyable at all. I understand this has to be done, but I wish it would be relayed through GolfNow.
Friday pm
Very challenging course for the average golfer. Teed off at 3:30 so was not expecting to finish but course was open and able to finish by 6:45 so pace was terrific. Combination of twilight fee and pace of play made this very enjoyable.
Good Time
I enjoy this course. Beautiful day but was probably a better day to be sailing than playing golf due to the winds. Course was in good condition and greens rolled well for me. Pace was great.
Enjoyable and challenging
First warm day in a week and found the course in great shape. Very nice amenities, courteous staff and challenging yet fun track.Greens in great shape. More than met my expectations.
