Very Challenging
Very interesting course. The first 9 holes are fairly easy except for the creek running through or next to every hole. We stopped and got a burger and beer before the 10th hole and the women at the grill told us 1 beer would probably not be enough for the back nine!! She was right!! Narrow, doglegs, water, layup shots, cliff shots from elevated greens, etc. It was a great course to play and very scenic. We will definately come back and play again.
Great scenery and some challenging holes
We have played this course several times when we visit Gatlinburg and love the scenery and interesting holes on the back nine. Quite a bit of water, and the 40 step climb to the tee box on #14 is different and fun. Only negative comment we have is that sometimes you have to watch out for geese droppings on the front nine. The staff is very friendly too. Our favorite Gatlinburg golf course for sure!
Loved the Challenge
I play every day and I am a low handicap golfer. When I read the reviews for this course and everyone said it was challenging I figured it was people who hadn't played much. I found this course challenging, you have to be able to hit it straight, not a good course for beginners. It was an absolutely beautiful course and a fun challenge! I will definitely come back many times!
less than expected
the course has too many doglegs. I had to hit several irons from the tee. The greens were good but that is where it ends. Course is short of room so it is all pushed together. We stayed at the resort but will play the rest of our golf elsewhere.
Poor direction of course layout
To much work to find direction u are hitting in and which flag are u suppose to hit at
Winter time golf
Played five rounds this week while here on vacation. It is still winter time here and the fairways are brown and the greens not to green. There was snow on some of the fairways early on the week but soon melted. Still even with that this course is awesome and I look forward to playing it in September when we return. The staff is friendly and helpful.
Bent Creek was a great course. I will certainly play it again in the future.
We played Bent Creek November 21. The fairway grass of course was dormant but still in great shape. I can't imagine how good the course must look in the summer months. Greens were in fair shape with a few bear spots. Bunkers were well maintained. There was a mix of challenging hole along with several rather easy holes. Overall I loved the course and I definately play the course again when I am in Gatlinburg.
Very different layout surrounded by great mountain views.
challenging course requires some good shot making, especially on the back 9. Difficult, but fun, to play 1st time around. Hope to play again soon.
This course was very challenging.
The course required you to think about the shots you had to make. It was very challenging and was in very good shape and we'll maintained.
fun and challenging course
Although it was very cold that morning (32) I enjoyed the course very well. Fairways and greens were in great shape, Bermuda grass made rough very challenging. Overall, I will be excited to come back to this course when my hands aren't frozen :) Staff was terrific and very accommodating, rental clubs were tops.
Scenic and challenging
One of my favorite courses. Front nine are in the valley and faily flat. Back nine are more challenging with several blind tee shoots. Better be near the directional markers or you will need to layup on multiple holes. Water comes into play on most holes. 3 creeks to navigate on hole #9.
A must play course
If your in town you need to play this course. This course is laid out with the front building your confidence for the back nine which will take everything you got to keep your score low.
Nice layout on back nine
The front nine is a little boring but the back nine makes up for it. Although there were a lot of flies. Wow. More than I have ever seen attacking you on the front nine. Staff was nice. It was overpriced I think.
Course was in great condition.
Have played tiis course 5 or 6 times and it is all ways a challenage, also greens were in great condition.
Not that great of a golf experience. Definite challenge
The pro shop staff member did not offer any course info. Back 9 Several holes looked like after thoughts or fill-in. Not laid out very well. I won't return. The bridges look unsafe. Spotted several articles of junk laying about. Problem with geese digging up greens. Some holes difficult some OK.
Nice scenery
Several holes around the creek are challenging. Interesting climb to par 3 14th
Course good, gnats bad
We had an early tee time and the gnats on the front nine were awful. When we played the back nine, the course was dry, and the gnats were not as bad. The course is nice and unique.
Imaginative layout
I was playing solo the day I played and was one of the first to go out. Sun was just rising and the first couple of holes were facing east, so it was tough see. Also, course was wet due to the previous day's rain, so It was cart paths only. The front nine is pretty basic, except for the river and ponds making club selection and accuracy important or you will lose a few balls, as I did. The greens were newly fertilized and almost an unnatural green compared to the rest of the course. They were very receptive...balls held well, but putting speed was especially slow first thing in the a.m. The view at number nine was especially lovely, with creek around and flowers inviting to the eye. The back nine is much more interesting, and a bit non-traditional in the layout, but I really enjoyed doing the math and figuring out which club I needed to get to the hole without ending up in a ravine or water. There is one par three with a long trek up to the tee and some pretty scary switchback turns on the cart path. The tee here had artificial grass which was kind of tacky, but I imagine the shaded area is hard to maintain, and it would also be hard to get mowing equipment up to the elevated tee. The cart path took me by some lovely settings along the creek, and later opened up into the valley looking up to the homes nestled on the hills above...lovely views. If I had had time, I would have given the back nine a second try. There were a few "buggy" areas, but not too bothersome on this particular day. Give this course a try if you want a nice easy warm-up nine followed by an almost whimsical second nine. Bring your imagination along!
A Good Value
Bent Creek for the most part was in good shape. The fairways were well covered with a mix of Bermuda and other local grasses. They were cut and the ball sat up nicely. The greens were in good shape, although putts were slow. Most ball marks were fixed, but there will always be people who will not fix their marks, so you can usually find one or two that need attention.
The layout consists of two different nines. The front nine is open, with creeks and ponds that will make you pay attention. The back nine moves through the woods, with that ever present water, to make shot placement critical.
If there is any negative, it is the ever present bugs that are all around you. Be prepared with some spray if you go.
Challenging and fun
Front 9 was great to play in that you can shoot some low scores. However, the back 9 is very challenging and not very forgiving. Lost several balls.....but didn't mind. Bent Creek, an actual creek, runs throughout the course and there are water hazards on almost every hole - the creek. It you can book this course for $30, you're getting a good deal.
