This course has lost some of its luster as they no longer have a snack bar or bar.
The course as usual was in pretty good shape with the exception of the driving range. It looked like there had been no ball retrieval for some time, The bar, snack bar, outpost snack wagon and bar was not in operation.
This course has beautiful greens
There is plenty of room to drive the ball. The greens rolls true. The guy at check in (Bert) did not want to honor Golf Now rate. He said that he will give us the rate this time.
The course has something for everyone.
We played yesterday and had a great time. I had not played in 4 months and was a bit worried I might slow other golfers down but the course was quite friendly and we played the 18 holes in just under 4 hours. The course is nice and flat but still offers challenges for most golfers.
Upwind, downwind, with a good mix of hole lengths. Good par 3's.
Fun course, nice facility, great short game practice area.
Slow pace and very noisy (aircraft)
Flat, open course. Allow extra time to get thru proper security gate if not military.
nice course fo begginers
fun course the greens are in great shape but very slow play.
Great greens!
The fairways are generous and in reasonably good condition. Greens were lush and true rolling. Pace of play was good due to groups allowing people to play through. Enjoyed playing and would play again.
Twilight round
Got off work early, booked a 4:15 tee time for $22 incl cart. Got there at 3:55 and went out at 4:05 solo. Played the entire 18 by myself in 3.5 hrs. This includes hitting several practice shots on multiple holes. The greens are always great at Miramar, tee boxes are good, fairways vary from very nice to barely acceptable.
Really a great value if you score a Golfnow deal.
Flat course
Good place play, not to busy, easy to hit greens in two shots
I would like to have golf let us players know when the coures have plugged greensThis the second time I have shown up and left after nine holes
you need to let people know that they are plugging the greens
Greens make the course.
The greens at Miramar are excellent and make the course fun to play.
Fast play, good condition and great location.
Miramar has put in a lot of work to bring the course up to great condition. The greens, fairways and bunkers are outstanding. The rough and trees are challenging if you stray off the fairway. The greens are tricky. The staff and facilities are very good. And they have a good range.
Make sure you bring your picture ID, car registration and proof of insurance to get on base. Signing in is a fast process.
This was the second time we played since the course was opened to the public. Two great rounds.
excellent for play around noon time
flat course lots of trees wide fairways tough rough.
A very nice course which lends itself to walking if desired.
Great greens, although pin placement was difficult today making the course challenging.
Convenient and low stress
We've got plenty of courses in San Diego if we want stress and drama, so it's nice to have a straightforward course and you're not heavily penalized for an astray shot. The greens are excellent, so there's no breaks there.
Not set up for golfnow
We got there with a prepaid golfnow reservation which they acknowledged. But they said since it was the weekend, they could not honor the t time but would try to squeeze us in. They blamed the problem on golfnow. We got on about 15 minutes later but they are clearly not set up for golfnow. This is a military course, trying to make money off of civilians.
Non-descript course. Plays longer than rated. Chance to play longest par 5 in So. Cal.
Course plays longer than rated. Par 5 of 625 yds. Played more like 700 yds in the wind. Hit driver and two 3 woods to get to green. Course needs work. Cool to watch Navy and Marine aircraft take off and land during your round.Easily accessible from freeway.
Long, so very long!
This is a great course, particularly if you want to practice your driving. Wide open holes, rough that does not swallow the ball and not too many trees to get in the way of your recovery shot.
The course was in reasonable condition. Just a few bare patches on the fairways. The greens rolled pretty true and the break was what you expected.
If you play off the blue tees this is a long, long course. One par five was 640 yards! Many of the par 4's were 400-450 yards.
The course is completely flat, so it's very easy to walk. There are many more scenic courses in San Diego but this one's great for an afternoon with the boys.
Long and flat
The greens are very good. While sometimes sloped they are moderate in speed and difficulty. The course is flat and rather featureless. There is some water and some sand, but except for a couple of holes they were not a factor and easy to advoid. To make up for the relative flatness the course is moderately long from the white tees. While the first couple of holes were approximately 380 yds par 4s, the last two were 430 yds par 4s and there was one par 5 that was approximately 550 yards. Even with good ball roll it would take my best shots to reach these greens in regulation.
The marshalls did work with the group that was having difficulty in order to keep the pace reasonable.
Overall friendly, average value that was interesting to play, but does not beg one to come back time and again.
Wide-open fairways, Speedy greens
First off, you need DL, Registration & proof of insurance to drive on the base. My wife switched the new insurance cards for our two cars and I got a fix-it ticket and was turned away at the gate. Drove home, switched cards, drove back and they voided my citation, but I was an hour late for my 11:00AM tee time. Thankfully, they got me right out, no problem. The course is pretty flat, with the holes running parallel and no real out of bounds until you make the turn at 14. At 14, a duck hook will put you on Miramar Road. I was out of position a few times on the front nine and still managed to reach the greens playing shots through the sparse trees. The course protects par with elevated, undulating, and very fast greens. They are in great shape, roll true and putt fast. You need to keep your ball below the hole to score well. The fairways are a little sketchy in areas, tree roots, inconsistent rough, sparse or no grass, like your typical municipal course. The sand traps have very soft sand and it took some time to adjust. At $27 with a cart for a mid-morning round, this was a sweet deal.
