Cheval Golf and Athletic Club

About
Designed by Steve Smyers, Cheval Golf and Athletic Club's (previously known as Cheval Country Club) mature and meticulously maintained course meanders through 860 acres of elegantly designed development property. Cypress trees abound on this course along with native Florida wildlife including deer, alligators, otters, eagles, wading birds and more. Cheval is one of the area's most prestigious semi-private clubs and offers 18 holes of championship golf. Precise shot placement is required to avoid the 108 bunkers and water hazards that lurk on every hole. A large practice facility includes target greens, distance markings, a practice greens-side bunker, a practice fairway bunker, large putting green and separate pitching green.

Excellent experience
Played in the middle of the day on a Monday and had the course pretty much to myself. The course was in excellent condition with very minor wet areas, great fairways and great greens. The course is very penalizing if your not accurate off the tee. Will play again in future
Nice shape
Course in really good shape considering the rain. Back 9 was a little wet, but overall very good. Challenging course so watch your placements off the tee - easy to go long and into trouble.
Rain Rain Rain
I only played 3 holes. Had to leave in the middle of hole #4 because of torrential rain
Bucket List
I booked this course based on an online review and was not disappointed,. This course has been private for most of its existence. The course is in great shape. It should be a must play while available. And the discounted rate is probably the best value on Golf Now.
If you can't afford TPC, do not succomb to here
This course really irks me as the houses themsleves are pretty as well as the scenery but that's all the course has going for it.
The course is about 60% doglegs and requires shots with perfect accuracy and distance which requires perfect play unlike it's relative TPC. The conditions are quite poor for the price as the greens were unpredictable and extremely slow even though there wasn't rain for a week. Also the fairways were quite spotty and the lies which should have been favorable were not.
This course has no concept of either a "fun" hole or signature hole and is just terribly designed.
Also their carts utilize cart control in the most grotesque manner as if you're within 150 yrds of the green, it'll force you to move backwards at 1 MPH on top of the most obnoxious pop-ops on the GPS screen. It was so infurating I genuinely wanted to drive to cart on the greens out of fustration of the poor implmeneted cart limitions (don't worry I did not).
Overall if you cannot afford TPC, do not play here and choose anywhere else to have a remotely enjoyable experience.
Great course
Course was in great shape and they were very safe. I will return.
Great Value!
First time playing this course! Great value for the money! Greens excellent, fairways plush, tee boxes great shape and mostly flat, bunkers looked great, only had to play out of one thank goodness. LOL Amenities low only a 4 do to renovations. Cart girl seen often!
Best shape in area
I’ve played at least 12 courses locally since Covid 19, and Cheval is in the best condition. Definitely worth the price on Golf Now.
great golf
the course was excellent, the staff was excellent, we had a problem on the back 9 when a foursome had never played golf before and showed no courtesy. it took about 3 hours (?) to play the back. that was awful. but the golf was great, the course was great, had a really good time. enjoyed the course and would definitely play again.
Nice course
Played TPC and your course and I would tell friends to come play at your course.
SLOW greens
On the bad side the greens are very slow & the traps are more like waste areas. The layout is fun & the rest of the course is in good shape. That said it was worth the $25 we paid, but I would never pay the $55 or more they normally charge for greens this slow.
The GPS in the cart is helpful, but gets confused at times & the cart won't move. Twice while I was on the cart path the cart stopped & would not move until I put it in reverse / back in forward.
Green immaculate but on slow side
The course was in great shape. Plenty of grass, more than one likes if not in fairway. The greens rolled very true but were unusually slow, probably due to heavy rain over previous few days. Always a fun course to play.
Overall: Great Course
Everything about this course is great even with the recent rain besides the tee boxes, sheesh those need some work to be on the level of the rest of the course. 2nd time playing in the last week.
Great course
From tee to green, course was in great shape. Pace of play was good
