Cypress Knoll Golf & Country Club

First time here and the signs are that there is work being done on the course. The greens were very nice and the fairways were full - especially for this time of year.

Pace was pretty slow through the first 5 holes; hour and a half,. The next par 5 we could see the slow group was 2 groups in front of us. We decided to take a chance and skip 2 holes and although we hated to do it, it made a huge difference! Turned out there were 2 threesomes that kept joining up - playing as a six-some will definitely slow down play.

Tough to blame the course, but nobody has a ranger/marshal anymore. It was a fun course that I plan to go back to.

My wife and I played 18 holes a few weeks ago and were paired with another couple, which was great. We were about to hit our second shot, on hole 11, when I noticed the marshal speaking with the other couple, I hit and pulled my second shot a little left of the green. I dropped another ball to hit a provisional when the marshal said he needed us to skip two holes because he had a league that was about to start on hole 11. I said OK and was about to hit my provisional when the marshal stopped me and said, I need you to pick your ball up now and advance to hole 14, I saw your approach shot so you should be happy! We moved along and were never able to make up the two holes, like he said we could, because the course was crowded and we couldn’t get back to those holes and we weren’t provided any assistance from the staff. We decided to give the course another chance so we played 18 holes yesterday and were joined by to other guys. We waited approximately 20 minutes to tee off and no one else teed off on number one in that 20 minutes. Once we made it to number 11 the marshal tells us that we are two holes behind and need to pick up the pace. I told him about the time gap between us teeing off and the group that teed off ahead of us and said we might be half a hole slower than we should be but we are not two holes behind, like he suggested. His response was, “get back on it and speed up because you are slowing the course down.” He didn’t say another word, he just showed us his rude attitude and total disregard for customer service. Never did anyone that was behind us have to wait on us to move before they hit a shot and our playing time was 4 hours, 15 minutes!

Based on the treatment we received by the Cypress Knoll staff, the last two times we played the course, I can confidently say they don’t care about new customers, only their regulars! Why would anyone want to go to a course where the staff takes your money and doesn’t care about your experience and cares even less if you get to do what you paid for…Like playing every hole on the course that you paid to play!

What a great improvement to this course in the last 3 yrs. Kyle has down a great job bring this course back to life! Of course the new owners have giving him a free hand to get it done! Once the greens come back in from the recent aeration that place will be one of the best public course in the area!

Although the greens were plugged,price was deducted. The course was in great shape! Will play again soon.

Friendly staff and good pace of play. Greens could be better but it was an enjoyable round.

When we arrived at the course and checked in, we found out another group booked on the same app and got the same tee time. It was more than slow. We hit our drive and had to wait at least 5 -10 minutes to be able to hit our next shot and that continues all the way to the hole and it happened on every hole. We decided to quit after 9 holes.

That’s a first for me! My suggestion would be to space out the tee times with 5 mins in between that would keep the flow going. When there are more than 1 group booked at the same time and the course is full, it just keeps backing up.

I will it use the app again.

It just a shame that the restaurant/ bar area doesn’t have more business. Last 2;times there no one was in the place except for the 4 of us. They have all the right things there to have a great venue. Guess they need to have like a 2 for one special on certain beers and mixed drinks at a certain time of the day .

- Greens were dry and damaged

- Tee Boxes in rough shape

- No Beverage Cart

After playing 9 holes in 88°, we didn't see a cart girl once. No water jugs on the course either. At the turn when asked if they had a beverage cart, the Pro Shop said they did but she was nowhere to be found. I highly recommend you bring your own beverages and a cooler.

Not sure what course these other players / reviewers played in May 2022 but this track is in dire need of some serious TLC. Your first clue about the course conditions should be the "practice putting green" adjacent to the parking lot. Brown, worn out, grass that hasn't been mowed in a few days. On the first tee a 6 large patch of 6 inch high crabgrass between the white and blue tees....off to a good start!! Fairways and greens are rock hard. Houdini couldn't stop a sand wedge from 80 yards on these surfaces. Off the fairway looks similar to Cambodia back during the Viet Nam war. Don't even think about looking for a stray tee shot unless you have a snake bite kit, knee high rubber boots and shotgun. The layout if respectable but the course conditions are just horrible. Not worth your time of money. I'm giving it 2 stars only because the people in the pro shop were friendly.
