Stunning views
A very beautiful setting , every hole has great views of the surrounding San jacinto moutains shooting out of the ground to frame the course and valley perfectly.
The course itself was in good shape a few of the fairways on the back nine were not as lush as the other holes so I gave the condition rating a good only. That's the only criticism I can offer. The greens were true and like glass.
I highly recommend this course.
Gone downhill
This used to be one of my favorite courses down in Palm Springs....not as pretty as the south course but I think the layout is more interesting. When I played here two years ago the Greens/fairways were immaculate.... This year even some shots that found fairway there wasn't grass to speak of. I'd recommend to a friend if they start taking care of it, not sure if the south course is seeing similar issues or not as we didn't want to chance another round in poor conditions. It was to the point the fairways were nearly unplayable....no fringe cut around the Greens, though the Greens themselves were in great shape and ran true.
Disappointing
Although we knew this course was not the same caliber as the South course we were very disappointed. The "special rate" due to the poor conditions still didn't compare to other courses for the same money. The restaurant wasn't open. No carts were allowed to return to the parking lot.
Nice challenging course
Nice course. Generous fairways. Challenging greens. Greens rolled great. Bunkers could use a little more sand
course conditions
excellent greens
fairways quite patchy
So sad!!
Sad!! Staff was great...both of them!! It's like the course is shutting down, and they don't want to spend anytime or money on the course. So disappointed!! I hope the City Of Palm Springs steps in and does something, there's too much history here to let it go like they are.
Best round of the week
This was a very established and well managed course. Though there were obviously members playing we did not feel like outsiders. Nice fair layout, but could be tough if you spray the ball, duh. Enough water and rough to keep your attention. The course was seeded for winter and in good shape.
it should not have opened yet
The course had no ball washers,no yardage markers that you could find,as you were not allowed on the fairways. It was not advertised as c.p.o. on golfnow. It just opened 2 days before we played. The fairways were not in playing condition & no cart paths to drive on,just rough that was 6 inches of grass. Hard to find a ball in that mess.It was WORTHABOUT 25.00 FOR THE ROUND,NOT WHAT GOLFNOW CHARGED FOR A HOT DEAL.
i WILL NEVER PLAY IT AGAIN.
Worst shape ever
This used to be won of my favorite courses in the desert. What happened?
Decent value
A little rough around the edges but overall decent value
Fun course
Very old course with some history. Greens in great shape; fairways, not so much. Cart path only at this time.
Worth Playing
We were 1st off the tee, played under 3 hours. Fairway's need work, very thin with grass, greens were excellent, generous fairways, but houses very close to edges of rough so they could be in play on some holes. Bunkers need more sand, rough was fairly long. Beautiful views.
rumors must be true
word locally is that the course will be converted to houses. based on the dreadful condition this might be true as all the other courses in the valley have reseeded and look immaculate. can only assume the money is going into the south course. pace of play was as usual slow as the out of shape boomer couples plod around.
Great Staff
All of the people working at this course are friendly and respectful. We were greeted by everyone and it was fun hearing about the Hollywood stars who used to play here . Loved the photos along the hallway.
The most amazing staff person, though, is the marshal. Frances kept the play moving, switched groups around so that everyone on the course played at a good pace. It made such a difference not to have to wait on every hole. She came around a couple of times to make sure all was well.
We have played several courses around the valley and have never even seen a marshal and when we did, they did nothing to control the pace of play. France's is excellent at her job and as a result we enjoyed our round of golf much more.
The course is not in the best shape yet and there are quite a few bare spots on the fairways. The cart paths are muddy and have lots of ruts. When the fairways / cart paths improve this will be a great place to enjoy a round of golf.
Fairways poor
I was surprised how poor the fairways were. Greens were slow but true. Course and club house are 60s like and in need of a renovation. Much better selection don't waste your money.
Over-seeding is hard on a golfer!
We golfed the North - Indian Canyon course for a "Hot Deal". Thank goodness I called the course and cancelled my initial $69.00 direct booking. This course opened on November 1st and has a lot of nostalgia linked to it via celebrity players like Frank Sinatra and Walt Disney that were regulars. Unfortunately both would have been spitting upset that they did not clean up the piles of grass clippings in and around the fairways and greens. The course still indicated water on holes where it had been replaced by sand. Not a big deal, but another update that needs to considered. The staff was very nice and assisted us with "some" course information before starting. Overall, not the worst but too soon to book after the grass over-seeding. Should have been discounted another $10.00 until it is more mature.
