Panther Lake at Orange County National
About
Two 18-hole courses rest on the 900-acre retreat that is all about golf -- not condos or summer homes. Panther Lakes is the flashier of the two designs at Orange County National, most say, because no two holes are the same. The playing surfaces are lush and the topography is so varied in some areas, some have a hard time believing they're in Florida. The architect made good use of the rolling meadows, grasslands, wetlands and lakes. Visually rich elements saturate the 7,295-yard design.

May 2025
Everything was very nice. The staff all very plesant. The range eas in good shape. I used the practice sand trap. The course was in nice shape. The greens about a 9-10 for speed and rolled true.
Ugh!
Fist ball was in the air at 12:03pm. We hit hole #13 at 4:18pm. We left at that point, but probably should have left after 9 holes. The ranger came by a few times and was very cordial, letting us know that he was doing his best. As we were driving from 13 to the clubhouse, I became skeptical of his response due to a foursome that had 2 open holes in front of them, and a twosome with the same. I understand it was a holiday weekend, but when there are 3 groups on one hole and a total of 4 open holes in front, I’m speculating that not everything was being done to monitor pace of play. To add salt on the wounds, the fairways were in atrocious condition. Now I understand why the LIV Tour goes there! Lol!
The course has a very good layout, but the conditions were a 2 out of ten and pace of play was a zero out of 10. Unfortunately, it will be a very long time before I play there again. I’m not suggesting that the course should be avoided, but if you feel like wasting 6 hours on a poorly conditioned course…by all means, go play it. I personally would rather stay home and do yard work.
Nice Course Needing TLC
OCN Panther Trace is an interesting layout. It can play to any level of difficulty depending on the tees you choose. The course was in decent shape. The tees, greens and fairways had some turf issues probably due to the heavy play it receives. Overall it was in good shape. Pace of play was a bit slow which might have been due to the other course being closed causing this one to be heavily booked. I would play here again.
Very good, but not excellent.
Free range balls, great people, awesome pro shop and clubhouse. I played on a hot deal. I wouldn't pay more. Nice, but far from excellent.
The fairways and greens were great. The rest of the course was a bit torn up. Lots of yellow spots where they're killing weeds. Large areas off the course and in between holes that were being cleared out. I know, you don't play there, but it just looked like a construction zone. Lakes and ponds are now grass and brush.
Average, could be so much
Layout is great.
Fairways were poor, lots of burnt areas and generally not well maintained. Bunkers and tees were good and greens, despite having been worked on, were also good.
Fairways and Tee Boxes Struggling
I’ve played OCN a number of times and this is the first opportunity I’ve had something negative to say about the courses.
The grass on Panther Lakes fairway and tee boxes patchy, or burned out. With it being mid-May in Florida, the Bermuda grass should be thriving. Don’t know what they did or didn’t do, but I would hold off on playing there till they figure it out. Disappointing for what use to be an exceptional course.
Amazing course, staff and facilities!!!
From the minute you leave your vehicle, everything is TOP NOTCH!!! Unlimited range balls, MASSIVE putting green, great food and service. Course was in impeccable shape!! I almost felt like I was Stealing for the price that it costs us to play.. there’s no better Valur in all of Florida! 5 stars all day.. cannot wait to be back!
Pure
Great course with superb fairways and large fast greens !! Top quality for the money 👌🏻
Challenging course
Course was in superb condition. Many undulations in fairways and greens greens were faster than mostwe played excellent practice facilities
Orange County National Panther Lake - A Challenging Test
Played Panther Lake yesterday and it was in great shape. I played the Green tees, ~6500 yards. I hit it fairly well for my age (69) and I found the course challenging. The greens rolled very well and I putted out of my mind which saved the round. The course has lots of fairway bunkers everywhere and greens which funnel mishits into the bunkers. I visited the bunkers 6-7 times and they were all in excellent shape. I found them to be fair. The course is home to the PGA Q school, Korn Ferry events and Liv events. I would recommend it to any golfer who wants to test where their golf game stands. Par 3's are long and par 5's are also long. A great test of golf, which is not for beginner golfers.
