Golf Club At Terra Lago - South Course
About
Formerly known as Landmark Golf Club, the Golf Club at Terra Lago was the host of the PGA Tour Skins Game from 1999 to 2002. The club's impressive guest list includes Greg Norman, Phil Mickelson, and Tiger Woods. There are two 18-hole courses available called the North and the South. At 7,044 yards, Terra Lago's South Course is just barely shorter than the 7,060-yard North Course but they are equally challenging. The South is known for having one of the club's most unique and memorable holes, the par-4 second. This narrow hole runs alongside a wide canal that makes anything hit to the right impossible to play. The unique part of the hole comes as you approach the green. To cross the creek, rather than having a traditional wood bridge, the course designer crafted a bridge from an old rail car, which explains its nickname as the "Boxcar" hole.

Fourth hole on the South Course Photo submitted by William4478124 on 02/22/2014
Beautiful golf course nice lay out
Some very nice holes with great scenery course was in pretty good shape greens a little slow as the just reseeded. We had to stay cart path only because of reseeding but they gave us a discount before we started which good of them.
We golfed Tahquitz creek resort lendgen course no compair to Terra. Terra 9/10 Tahquitz 6/10
Was great until -
It was a beautiful setting and the course was very nice.
The staff/groundskeepers on the course were very friendly and helpful. The grumpy cashiers in the club house, not so much. L
A couple of things:
1). We did not know until we checked in that carts were cart path only (maybe due to re- seeding) but that makes for an entirely different play on wide and hilly elevations especially for older people, and especially in the heat. So that is a question we will ask before booking again.
2). We needed to stop after 9 holes due to exertion and heat of an older person. No big deal on our end, BUT WE COULD NOT EVEN LEAVE THE COURSE WITH THE CART TO GET BACK TO THE CLUB HOUSE! Were we supposed to drive through everyone else’s game on the back 9 to get off the course?! We finally left the cart on the side of the road, went and got our car and u loaded the cart into it.
3). My wife went in to inform them of the situation as to where the cart was because I was too pisswd off and she wouldn’t let me go in, She reports that they were irritated and not helpful despite the fact that their cart programming is terrible.
4). Their cart programming IS terrible. The alarms went off several times while traveling on the cart path. Go figure.
It would have otherwise been a wonderful experience.
Course Needs Attention
Fairway bunkers full of overgrown grass and weeds. Burnt spots on the greens. Fairways not in good shape. Won’t come back here to play.
Free for All
Very unorganized and pace of play was horrible for late summer. Played behind various groups of 5 and 6 golfers. Seems like it’s become a super casual municipal course now with no cart service, Marshall or anything. Bummer.
Hot summer good price
I play this in the summer. It's adorable rates if you start early is well worth it.
Abysmal staff.
The check-in staff were unprofessional and rude. Brian treated us like we weren't welcome there, so we won't be back. Whomever owns this facility should hire better qualified employees for the pro shop.
Better than ratings suggest
Golfed Terra Lago South twice in a four day. This was my first time playing here. Based on some of the reviews. I was pleasantly surprised that the course was in pretty good shape. Fairways were excellent. Most of the greens were excellent although a couple did have some bare spots, The only problem is some of the sand traps do not have much sand, but the course does rake them.
Staff was friendly and pace of play was very good.
Played south course. Scenery not as nice as other courses. Greens were the best we’ve played. Fairways in good shape. Staff very friendly
unique, atypical, very good fun - golf in Indio Badlands
Fairways, Greens, Tee Boxes in excellent condition. Each hole truly felt like a new adventure into uninhabited lands. Hit from the black tees on par 3 Hole 4 - if you can find them (*hint* mini paved pathway winding up the grassy hill) - this would be a 231 yard shot from atop prominence in the hills, true lookout spot, 360° views of valleys below, ~30 yd elevation relative to green; wind may be blowing strong in one or more directions (recommend having some sort of sunglasses or protective goggles handy for this tee & others) - used mini driver & smacked it clean: went so high & far to the right thought for sure it was landing way out in desert moonscape below, heart was in my throat for about second & a half, until realizing ball had a big draw painted on it, proceeded to watch her hook so beautifully & land on green hole high with a roll that stopped 6' left. That right there made the round. And there was much more fun, exciting, (with a dash of the quirky) play to come after that. All staff was SUPER friendly & helpful. Didn't see another soul on course the entire round. Front or Behind.
** very HOT - need proper attire for sun protection & plenty of water/Gatorade & you'll be good
North course is supposed to be more prestigious & prettier.....I thoroughly enjoyed playing round on South Course.
Course needs attention
Played the South course because it was close to the resort where we were staying. The tee boxes and greens were nice. The bunkers were not maintained. The greens were slow. For the most part, the staff was nice. There is no cart person and the clubhouse bar was not open for business. We played in the middle of the week and we were told that it is staffed on the weekend. They drive you down to the carts with your golf clubs and I thought that was nice since you can't drive the carts to your car. Played another course in Indio and it was like night and day. Pay $10 more and play a much better track.
Ok course
South course was not in very good shape. North course was better
